We need more European cars! 80% of the cars in the game are Japanese!! I love JDM, but come on..

It's 60%.

There are plenty of European cars in the game, the main place the game falls short is the lack of American cars.

Holy geez! I knew it was a lot, but I didn't think it was that much.

 They are all from a time when people really cared which model of Skyline or Miata they were driving.

I love Japanese cars (proud AW11 MR2 owner), but this is another case of a bad approach on PD's part. The amount of S2Ks with no differences at all is astounding. The vast array of Skylines is understandable, as there are numerous tweaks and different technologies between trim levels/editions. A better allocation of resources is needed; even Kaz admitted there was too heavy of a focus on the JDM.

Nothing, however, frustrates me as much as the Toyota 2000GT being a standard car. Probably the first actually collectible Japanese car, revolutionized Toyota's image, and the interior... unreal. A rosewood-veneer dashboard hand made by Yamaha, known for their craftsmanship with high end instruments? How did they even entertain the idea of it NOT being premium?

That interior is absolutely beautiful. Imagine doing the photomode glitch with that.

I wouldn't necessary say "sick of Japanese cars", but I'm definitely sick of the over-abundance of them in GT4/5 and I really hate that PD went to the trouble to render stark-raving-boring Japanese daily-drivers and econo-boxes and left so many truly interesting and historic cars as "standards". The end result is that I have, IIRC, 2 Japanese cars in my entire garage, the Dome Zero and the Subaru 360. I just don't want to see them, or race them, or race against them.

You mean like the Skyline's that are claimed a separate model only because of they're "special color midnight purple"? :p

That is gorgeous for a brand new car, let alone back in the 60's.

To a point this has happened to me as well.
I love quite a few Japanese cars, but they're what I've been driving in GT for over a decade, and frankly, I'm tired of their faces.
I think PD's overboard antics with Japanese cars dominating the game has caused ill feelings for quite a few people towards these cars that aren't really deserved. (Deserved towards PD, not the cars, the cars are innocent)
But one can't help but get sick of seeing ever more Japanese cars taking precedence over other cars much more important to them in the motor sport world.

Yes they bore me . Keep the sweet ones and replace all the 4 cylinder hatch backs with something interesting . Such as Chinese , Indian automobile companies.

Too many duplicate Japanese cars. Yup.

They need to either 1. focus on the best of each manufacturer (a la GT3) or 2. provide more variations of everything. 20-30 each Skylines and RX-7s, 3-5 each Mustangs and Camaros. If you want to find a European example, I'm sure there are plenty of those too (M3 comes to mind). That kind of bias is inexcusable in a game sold internationally.

South Korean too... now that Hyundai is getting serious in the performance department (Genesis Coupe R-Spec is beastly). The new Veloster also showed up a few weeks ago at the dealership I work at:

I didn't even know what the hell it was when it pulled in, but after driving it I fell in love

Too bad they went for the futuristic look. They should have kept it simple enough with a little bit of elegance because it kinda looks like they were going for that part. Chop that fat ass off, first of all. Then change the entire bullet train look of it.

It's impressive power wise (that's all I know about it), but it's too flashy. It's like what Citroen did with the GT, but not as impressive and not as scary looking.

I would think this Hyundai actually has a nice interior.

The Genesis R-Spec, now that car they did a great job on visually. It kind of resembles the Silvia Spec-R Aero.

It's ugly from some angles, but the Citroen GT is far worse looking (so is the Lamborghini Reventon, for about the same reason).

I'm still astounded that there are 20 versions of the MX5/Miata and 1 premium Aston Martin. And you can't even race mod it. :(

^^^^ 20 versions of Miatas (a car model) that are standard. 3 premium Miatas. Something like 6 (4 actually, I was off by two) DIFFERENT models of Aston Martins that are standard. 1 premium Aston.

I don't think it looks pretty, per se, but I think it looks a lot better than that Veloster. It should be more accepted, the GT by Citroen, for looking like that because it's a lot more of a "weapon" than the Veloster.

I mostly use Japanese cars whenever I play. Its one of the main reasons why I've been a Granturismo fan all these years, but it really is an overkill with the 5-10 different types of r32s-34s, considering the majority of them have the same power after being modified..Instead of making more than one of the same type of car with a slight difference in the name, they should have just did what they did back in GT2 and just made tuned versions of them.

I like Japanese Cars.

(Accidentally press Yes in the poll lol)

um its a japanese game of course there are gonna be more japanese cars than anything else i just want different ones

The ratio should really be more fare like 33.333% for each area, not one side taking up more than half. I don't care where the studio hails from. Also that ratio is for North America, Europe including Russia, and Oceania/Asia.

Kaz would love to add the G-Wiz after seeing your post:nervous:

And considering PD's healthy relationship with car manufacturers, I don't think adding Chinese cars in the near future is possible...

YES. Way too many senseless variations of them. They are never as fun to drive (to me) either.

Yes. because they need to have more dodge and ford cars

SimonK
How so? The only totally new car they added was a Nissan and the DLC is pretty much all Japanese.

Earlier you said that our opinions won't change what PD do. Obviously with Spec 2.0 PD has shown that they do listen to the community, maybe not perfect, but they're listening and making changes. Look at how different GT5 was at launch. But I do agree, DLC has too many Japanese cars. :)

I think this is a very luxurious problem. "There are too many..."
I think the selection of Japanese cars is great, even the Skyline range. It's Japan's answer to the Ford Mustang so it's a bit of a legend. So no, I'm not sick of Japanese cars. And if you look at the Premium range of cars you will find that there's a pretty good balance between Japanese cars and European and American. If we're gonna start talking about what is really missing then it's Chinese cars and Indian cars, those are huge Automotive industries.

Now, if the question was: Do you want more European cars? Then the answer would be yes. Do you want more American cars? Yes. Do you want more Australian cars? Yes. But do you want fewer Japanese cars? No.

So FM has the bulk of it's cars from America, correct? I fixed your J's, I'm big on getting names right, it's a respect thing.:sly:

GT5 car list from GTP
TOTAL :
1045 cars + 15 Special + 15 [DLC] = 1075 cars + 3 pending
- 266 Premium
- 812 Standard
- 198 [NEW]
- 17 [RM] cars

Stats :
24% Premium
76% Standard
18% [NEW] to the series

62% are Japanese cars
10% are American cars
27% are European cars
0.7% are Korean cars
0.3% are Australian cars

27 are S2000s (2.53%)
31 are NSXs (2.90%)
67 are Skyline GT-Rs (6.00%)
27 are Lancers (2.43%)
35 are MX-5s (3.18%)
33 are RX-7s (3.09%)

These 6 cars total roughly 20% of the game's cars.
In case anyone is wondering.:)

So why only 4 Mustangs?
Mustang: .00372%
Skyline GT-R: 6%

Correct me if i am wrong, but isnt japan responsible for roughly 18% of gt5 sales .
It would be nice if the international consumer was a little more respected.
I guess you have the luxury to make these choices when you have no real competition . ps3=gt5 360=forza

Don't really care much but it's good they put some of the oldest skyline and other mazda.
I didn't see any of that car available in any other game.
