I wouldn't say the FXX K is a dull car.

Wasn't trying to imply it was, I just prefer cars where I do the driving instead of computers and downforce and electronic gizmos. I don't really care for any of the hypercars, they're wonderful bits of technology and wizardry but they're generally the exact opposite of what I want from a car. Not that there's anything wrong with people liking them, they just don't produce any trouser movement for me personally.

I can absolutely relate to the boredom resulting from hyper performance and electronic wizardry, but that's mostly based in a concern with where the automotive industry is heading. I'd still say AC does a good job communicating the fact that cars like the FXX K can be enjoyable to drive despite being detached from classic ideas of the real "driver's car". All this said and done, the FXX K and P1 GTR do interest in a way their road-going counterparts haven't managed. I suspect they vaguely remind of the GT1 class, which I'm beginning to feel slightly nostalgic about.

But we have some GT1 cars now, and I'd much rather drive those! :) I don't have anything against the hypercars and don't hate on them, I just don't have a trouser crisis over them like some people do and I would much rather spend my time driving something I find more engaging (i.e. elbows flying and feet dancing). I pretty much feel the same about GT3 cars, I enjoy racing them but 9 times out of 10 I'd prefer something like the Escort 1600. Different strokes for different folks, and luckily there's a wide enough range of vehicles in the game that everyone should be able to find something they love. :)

Reported!

You'd better report that ^ GT3 comment too. :P

haha we're getting old. We drive the cars which you can fix yourself. Greasy hands, oil leaking, replace the pistons yourself. With all the nowadays technology you have to call a specialized trained engineer who connects the car to a computer. In the old days an analog clock was innovation.

Something like that. Or is this complete nonsense I'm writing?

Spot on, except state laws have been enacted to prevent me from weilding a spanner. :indiff:

I personally like to get to know each car in the game. The majority of them are so different that it feels like playing a lot of mini-games in a way.
That's not to say that every car is exciting of course.

I totally concur. There's just so many that I'm not sure I'll ever get around to all of them! :dopey:

I know what you mean. I'm sure there are some Lotuses and Porsches I haven't driven yet. I'm just not sure which ones. :embarrassed:

I get that it's super complicated and can feel like you're doing nothing compared to a traditional car, but these things are simply wicked. We should all get some trouser movement over the fact that these things can shoot massive blue flames on down shifts and up shifts ;)

And yes I know that second shot is super noisy... I don't have good night lenses yet.

Drive the 3-Eleven ASAP!!

Nope, no movement at all. :P Lovely photos though!

I miss them. Cannot wait to get back into it next week. Always loved the Evo.

Pure porn.

Is it possible that one of the reasons for me getting a better time with the P1, Is due to the fact that the P1 was hitting 223 MPH in the long straight, While the FXXK was only hitting 213 MPH :)

I'm in the same boat here. AC wrecked GT for me, totally wrecked it. The game is an incredible achievement considering the size of the team.

I've made a point to drive every car in the game at least once, maybe haven't gotten around to a few Lotus and some drift specials. It would be great if you could change cars once in a practice session. Would be a lot quicker than leaving, picking new car, coming back. Maybe the PC guys have that already? Probably some mod?

I suppose you've already driven some of the GT1 cars and found them enjoyable? I think you'll enjoy the FXX K too then, at least if you adjust the assist levels. Obvious differences aside, the experience isn't as different as one might think.

Hard to say. I would think you can attack the corners harder in the FXX K, minimizing the impact of any differences in acceleration and top speed. Have you checked the FXX K for adjustable gear ratios?

Nope. We don't have this on the PC either. :grumpy: I literally just saw that exact issue mentioned in the Suggestions forum on Kunos's Official Forums board. I don't think consoles have access to the forum though.

You're right. That would be a huge time saver. I don't have any clue on how long it takes to switch cars/tracks on the console version, but I'm guessing it's a rather lengthy process. It can be on the PC as well. Thank god for fast SSD drives and Content Manager. Somehow the developer of Content Manager has managed to speed up loading times and I'm A-Okay with that. :D

@BrandonW77's opinion doesn't shock me. In a way, I agree with him. There is something about looking at a Countach, Yellowbird, F40 & McLaren F1 that makes it move, for me, even more than the modern super/hypercars. However, if I could only own one - I'd probably take a modern rocket just for the modern driving aids with my real life driving. That FXX-K is sexy though. I keep staring at it as I'm typing this.

Speaking strictly for offline game modes, it doesn't take very long on PS4. You can exit back to the main menu within a second or two. Picking car, track and conditions can be done rather swiftly too. Loading up the track is the worst part, but only if there are several AI drivers thrown into the mix or if the Nordschleife is involved. Of all the console racing games I've played over the years, AC is one of the most seamless to navigate. Online lobbies always take a while to join though, so that's where I think @Fredzy's point about changing car on track becomes particularly valid.

Is this 3:40 @Highlands Short? Kidding I assume its Highlands Long?
When a 4 year old hands you a "drawing" of 6 different colors pretty much just smeared all over the place and says, "I made this for you! It's a dinosaur!" - you accept it and say, "Oh wow! This is beautiful. Thank you, so very much." Right? But we all know what you're really thinking is, "Oh my God...I hope this kid isn't mentally retarded", right? Well, that's kind of what we're doing here with @Chikane. Get it? :P :D  :sly:

Hey...You know how when you move your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen you'll have the available Apps appear running vertically down the right edge of the screen? Well, has everyone noticed those 4 new small boxes underneath the scrollable list of apps (A, B, C & D)? Kunos seems to have taken an idea straight out of Content Manager and allowed us to setup four different Apps Presets. Not only do they remember which apps are enabled, but also their position on the screen. I haven't tried, so I don't know if you can keep different sizes of apps that offer adjustability between different presets.

I love it. My A Preset has all of the apps on screen for typical practice sessions. Track Map, Kunos's Tire App, FFBClip, Sidekick & Delta App. I know Sidekick has the delta red & green arrows, but they're very small and it's much easier to see the Kunos horizontal bar moving back & forth (green & red).

My Preset B is similar but doesn't have FFBClip or Kunos Delta. I have that app that can show you individual lap times, so it's good for races. I still haven't settled on what I want my B Preset (racing) to look like so I've been making changes. My C & D aren't defined yet. I plan on keeping Preset D free of all on-screen apps for the pure sim experience. Preset C will probably be Developer Apps almost exclusively...for times when I'm messing around with modding or just need to see how Kunos's cars behave on a developer level.

Is anyone else using them?

Content Manager just got an update, someone wrote with this update CM and the new sliders AC feels like 2.0, this is how I feel as well, thank you @x4fab .

@ALB123 i am also using those 4 preset, even during a lap sometimes, this one of the great addition of the last update.

I noticed them yesterday. I thought they'd always been there, and I was just too dumb to have noticed until now. :P

Anyway, I drove the Toyota TS040, and it's revived my love of driving LMP cars. I just have no idea how any of the tech-stuff works. Does it have some sort of hybrid boost thing you can use? Or anything like that? I don't know. But driving it amongst GT traffic gave me an idea, which was to make something like the old Gran Turismo 4 missions. So I blindly put this together and it turns out it worked pretty much perfectly, though it may be a little unorthodox. :P

Quick race

Track: Nurburgring Norschleife Endurace (24 hour layout)
Laps: 2 (because the game won't let you do one. Just hotlap the second, or quit out.
Car: Toyota TS040
Driver AIDS:
upload_2017-5-27_13-28-42.png

Because screw doing this without TCS and ABS.
Starting Position: Last

Opponents: (in order of placing in custom grid)
Toyota Supra MKIV
Mazda RX7 Spirit R
Toyota Celica ST185 4WD Turbo
Mazda MX5 ND
Toyota GT86
Mazda Miata NA
Toyota AE86

Race start: Give the other cars a two minute headstart.
AI strength: 98%
AI Variation: 0%
Aggression: 100%

Track settings: I can't imagine it would really matter. But if you want to do the same as me:
Time: 9:30
Weather: Light Fog
Wind: Weak
Wind Direction: SW
Ambient Temp: 16 degrees C
Track Surface: Dusty

Now, a modern LMP car at the Nordschleife is terrifying, yes. But avoid the apexes, and you should be fine. I mean, it's a modern LMP car, you can't see the apexes anyway. In my test runs, the first try I lost by a few tenths of a second, on the second I caught the Celica at the final turn.
