The AC Racers group on steam has hot lap competitions monthly and its really fun. Right now they are running the BMW z4 S1 at Silverstone international. Just thought i'd let everyone know as it makes the lapping a lot more fun when you have a little competition involved. Good way to pass time until MP is released in my opinion.

What is the AC racers group you are talking about? I'm interested to join as I'm getting my pc in 12 days :)

The group is called AC Racers. Its a group on steam. If you have a steam account already you can just search them. GTP has a group also on steam.

Another Lotus? jk.

Still waiting on the Exige S, Evora SR, 2-11 GT4, and the 98T. :D

I'm kinda surprised to see the Evora GTC so soon, since on the website it says it's free bonus content and would be released when finished. I wasn't expecting to see it until 1.0 or later.

Edit:

Just saw this on Facebook.

Back then (0.4 or below before they disabled the damage), you could actually do that kind photo shoot if you wreck the whole field and all of them reset back to pit stop.

Anyway, I do hope multiplayer come soon.

And this is what Marco said about people complaining too many lotus.

P.S: I love lotus! Just realized someone near my house owns a Elise Exige.

I saw that over on the AC forums, kinda reminds me of what has been going on in the GT5/6 forums and probably before then as well with people complaining about GT-Rs and Miatas. Who cares if you'll never use it, I'm sure there are some people playing the game that actually own one of the variants of cars and are thrilled that their car is the game, same with Gran Turismo.

I'm a big fan of Lotus too! I can't wait to drive the 98T and the Evora GTC! On top of that, the Exige 240R is my favorite road car in the game. :)

Yup, sad really. I think GTR's and Miata are fine cars. Maybe PD had overdone the duplicate thing, but their big on Mazda and Nissan anyway, so I can't blame them for that. I'm still a big fan of GT though, even though last gen IMO PD was terribly "slow"..

And Lotus Elise are actually quite fun to drive....but when you're in a race with faster cars on straights, you want to scream at it to get more horse power.

I don't like (modern) Lotuses and I don't bitch about them. But i find this kind of reply from Marco to be rather childish. Noone will argue that more variety is better, and licensing is complicated. So why not come out and say it - we're giving you what we can. Why act unprofessional and insult your audience instead of just being straight with them?
Meh.

Because he has already given the long answer of why it is the way it is. Still it continues with the please give us this please give us that, weres multiplayer? This car sucks etc posts. Hell i get tired of reading the stuff and i'm just a player. I commend him for speaking his mind and basically saying if you don't like it don't play it.

that's not really how you deal with the trolls.

So how do you deal with them? Bow to they're every want or foolish need? Kiss they're ass? I prefer his kick rocks method. Everyone knew they were buying an early access game and would get things at the pace of the development.

generally unless youre capable of dealing with them in some kind of clever or amusing manner you ignore them.
You're not gonna change their mind by being rude, you can only alienate people who are already on your side.

The reason I even say that is because i think AC is the greatest sim available to general public right now. And to see them going Phil Fish at this stage of development is rather unpleasant.

Big update today. 3 cars now have body damage implemented. BMW 1m, Abarth 500, and the Ferrari 458.

Crisper cleaner overall polish and a lot more track detail.

Yeah. It's sad that people have to ruin everything, but it's why most bigger developers won't interact with their audience. And it's not fair to single out gamers, because it's the entire internet. People are rude, mean, and entitled everywhere. I even once rolled with a firefox extension that blocked all webpage comments because I cringe when I accidentally read the first comment on something.

I honestly don't know how anyone could read the comments for projects they're involved with. You need to be super evolved to not snap on occasion.

Sad thing is, a lot of times the hate is a very small percentage. But it's what they fixate on. Which is human nature. It's just a shame that these people have to ruin it for the rest of us.

It's why big companies have someone to filter the signal from the noise of internet discussion.

The developers need access to the information about how their product is being received, but no one involved in actually making the game should be exposed directly to the bile in some of the comments because it's massively demotivating. So you have someone who that's their job, read all the comments, come up with sensible replies, and relay the concerns and praise to the development team in a way that is constructive. An idiot filter, basically.

Yeah. It's also interesting how Valve does things. They talked at Valve Developer Days that it's valuable monitoring forums for good ideas/complaints, but you should never engage for another reason: Once you start talking with them, everyone gets starstruck and starts retracting negative complaints. So even constructive criticism that's actually valuable gets completely compromised if you engage your audience. You monitor for ideas/pulse of your audience, and if it requires, you roll out updates which address the issues. Action >>>>>>> words.

Although lets be honest, there's no constructive criticism occurring on Kunos' Facebook page

It's why social media is really the wrong tool. The ideal thing I feel is a traditional blog with comments disabled. Let fans (or Steam) set up discussion points, there's plenty of sim racing forums and communities in existence, and farm information from there. Again, keeping fans at one remove.

I do agree very much that the dynamic shifts immensely when the developers themselves engage compared to a community discussing amongst themselves. It drives most people to extremes, either they're licking boots or calling for tar and feathers.

0.8.7- Fixed Race weekend output
- Improved AI
- Improved AI Fuel evaluation
- Fixed FF vibration with stationary car (Mclaren GT3)
- Graphics optimizations

0.8.6
- Default launcher theme: fixed lap number for special events not updating
- Default launcher theme: various UI element placement adjustments

Will test out properly tonight.

From Marco Massarutto facebook:

"Meanwhile, somewhere at Kunos Studios.. - Just in pre-pre-alpha stage (and I'm not ironic: interiors, damages, sounds, physics, materials yet to come), any speculation related to this car for next releases is a waste of time. But I can't resist this rear..."
YES YES YES!

The sim that keeps on giving.

God damnit, my life's over. I knew the day would come when Assetto Corsa would release MP, but I was hoping it'd wait till Summer when school's over, I'm so excited/scared.

Welp, looks like it's time to set up the first AC Pure league series.

Nice! Even though im expecting the MP to be not well polished, like lag and ping issue, I would still have a blast for sure. Track day racing, anyone? :)
