Next weekend will be the best 3 days of this year, and even better if the yellowbird is released with 09!
Next week better go by fast :D

Pretty sure Yellowbird is part of the Dream Pack DLC. I'm wondering when we're finally gonna get the Lotus 98T.

Online should be pretty awesome though. Hopefully there are some US servers set up soon, because I can't imagine Italian based servers will be the best for those of us in N.A.

I don't think Kunos will go Forza 5 on us. The Yellowbird is already finished. I think the DLC will contain the GT3 cars and other cars that's been requested.

Ruf was part of the poll when we were voting on cars for the Dream Pack DLC. And since the homepage has always listed what was included in the retail game, I'm not personally offended by this either. The Ring and 10 new cars is just fine with me for DLC. The alternative is they stop producing content when they hit 1.0 and I certainly don't want that.

I also doubt it'll actually be done by 1.0. Creating a character model seems like the easy part. It's modeling accurate physics that takes hard work.

I finally got the game. My overall opinion is:
Road car: some are good, others are bad.
Racecars: Fine.
Open wheel race car: Best in any sim I have tried. They are actually fun to drive.

Updated:

Sounds are not as good as iRacing IMHO. Gear changes with the H pattern box feel smoother than with the paddles and auto blip. I think auto blip is broken.

From Marco Massarutto

Marco MassaruttoLaFerrari will be included in 1.0 version of Assetto Corsa, not before. Graphics has been completed and approved, but we are still working on physics and sounds. Anyway, this special content will not be included in the Early Access program, as well as some other contents and features. We are working to deliver a very special 1.0 version of the full game.

Marco Massaruttowe'll release some browser screens later today or tomorrow, ingame battle pictures wouldn't be different by a AI race, apart for the names on car tops

  • Leonardo Ratafiaand could we get Senna's Lotus for this death anniversary?

  • Marco MassaruttoNo, and frankly it sounds me wrong to release a videogame content in the anniversary of the death of a person to celebrate him, it looks to me more a speculation rather than a right tribute.

Quick question. Actually you can buy the BETA! for 35€ on Steam. It is on version 0.9 and for me the menus and the game in general feels totaly incomplete. Especially the menus are messy. So we only have 0.1 left to the final build? And now I have read that every update after 1.0 will be a DLC?

So we have ~30 cars and 10-15 tracks in AC and thats all? Everything else will cost extra?

^That's not entirely accurate. The dev's have stated that they will continue to develop AC for at least 5 more years. Expect v1.0 to be improved during that time. Also the game is built to be 'moddable' and the modding community is already building cars and tracks that can be imported (after release of the Dev-Tools after v1.0) into the game. Some hybrid / converted tracks are already online to download if you into that (some are not very good quality).

Purchasing the 'Early Release' ensures the customer that all updates (free) will be part of your purchase. The only 'DLC' that has ever been stated that will cost money is the Dream Car Pack with the Nord' to be available sometime around September 2014. Other updates will remain included in the Early-Access purchase.

From my perspective, it soooooooooo worth every penny for the driving experience alone.

Although I will say this for people who are on the fence and haven't jumped in yet: It's kind of brilliant that they're going to have 1.0 released before the Steam summer sale. This way they can have a 50 percent sale during the big sale and, since it'll technically be in a retail release state, people can't whine about breaking any promises.

Ok, they'll still whine, but who cares. They won't have broken any promises.

Added tracks no longer load with build .9. 👎 As someone who isn't all that interested in MP at the moment this is a real bite.

Oh well, guess its back to rfactor until they finally release the modding tools.

Kunos jobbed a setting in the ac_config file. Here is one of the dev's explaining the workaround for now:

Aristotelis said:
just out of curiosity, check the AC intallation folder/system/cfg/assetto_corsa.ini for the following line
WARNINGS_AS_ERRORS=1

try changing it in 0 or 1 can't remember. Maybe we changed it by error

Change it to 0. (it works for modded cars, so it should for tracks as well)

Never had any performance issues till now. Was just doing some Special Cup racing and man, a lot of hitching going on. Hope it's just temporary and they straighten it out.

It's not an FPS issue, it's just a lot of random stuttering.

Does somebody know, is this 10 laps maximum only a placeholder? Will we be able to do longer races on later releases?

Yes, it is just a temporary solution to the 'no-pitstops' problem. The dev's have stated v1.0 will NOT include pit stops (which is tragic IMO) so the 10 laps is all the AI carry for fuel/tyres ATM.

This is moddable by going in the AI_Setup files and changing some parameters. Some have uploaded (below) a new Special Events file(s) that change these settings for us.

Search around the Official AC forums and you can find the info/files needing modification for longer AI races.

Another question. I wonder that there is no breaking temperature in AC.

People say Project Cars is not a good sim like AC but as I know, in Pcars there is breaking heat, water temperature, oil temperature, track temperature, air temperature, wind direction and a few more aspects in Project cars.

Will this come to AC as well? I mean at least the break temperature is an important factor for sims.

Yeah, brake fade is much requested feature by the AC community. Air temp is simulated and adjustable, with track temp stated by dev's (I think) to be +5 of air temp.

Car damage can be enabled and sorta works but is still a WIP (visually only a few cars display it, or did in a previous update; haven't seen damage lately. Non-visual damage still works when enabled; I don't enable it because MP would be a cluster and AI would be only slightly better).

The telemetry for these other things is there (within AC) but is still being developed. The Official AC forums has a bunch of modders working with the share memory to extract these items into display apps.

AC can run full telemetry, in fact that is part of the physics engine, but relaying that info to the driver/HUD/apps is still a definite WIP.

Any way to:

Set up a virtual mirror?
Relative position blackbox? (I hated it at first but now iRacing has me spoiled lol even though this game does have a track map)
Voice chat?

Finding it a little difficult to race online without the first two.

There is a spotter mod that works fairly well that will keep you aware of your surroundings. Its on the racedepartment forums.

I think the virtual mirror is F11.

Yep, I'd also use the words pretty decent to describe it. It's lots of fun online, too.

Just set your expectations straight, I think this was a conversion from rFactor, so don't expect the same level of graphic detail as with Kunos' tracks. Other than that it's a blast to drive which is what matters. Oh, and make sure to turn off "Keep camera locked to horizon" or something like that. The many elevation changes in the 'ring paired with this option result in a less than enjoyable driving experience.

Sweet!! Thank you guys, will definitely check it out when I get home tonight!!

From AC's facebook page:

We're glad to introduce the first tutorial regarding modding tools of Assetto Corsa. Modders will have access on the same tools used by the developers. This Friday we will release the graphics editor in beta version, that permits to import and edit 3D files and export in Assetto Corsa format.

Discuss and learn more on the dedicated thread on our official support forum. http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/i...corsa-official-editor-tutorial-video-1.10859/

Looks great, I would presume with the release of these modding tools that the amount of great quality tracks and cars made by the public is going to dramatically increase quite soon :)

It's really looking great. 3DSimED is supposed to get an Assetto Corsa export soon, but the UI of Kunos' editor is much better.
