New preview of the Alfa Romeo 4C at the Nordschleife. Also, Kunos reiterates that the Dream Pack is still slated for release on Q1 2015. Meanwhile Kunos is also working on free updates for AC that will include, and I quote: "race flags, rules, overcast conditions, AI and FPS optimizations". They also mention they are working on bonus cars that will be available, for free, as they are finished.
Looking good. For their own sake I hope AC is able to meet these soft deadlines without delay. Disappointment seems to run rampant in the sim world these days:sly: and I'd hate to see AC join that dubious list at this point. Better to underpromise and overdeliver methinks.

F488 GTB ! (Yes, I am dreaming, I know)

Hadn't heard of that car before, it's beautiful. That and the F12 Berlinetta would be great additions to the game's Ferrari lineup. That and a slightly older but more recent Ferrari F1 (2007-08 era or 2012). That being said, the bonus cars they are talking about are most likely: the Corvette Stingray road car, the GT-R Nismo road car, the Audi R8 V10 Plus, the RUF RT 35S etc...

I hope Im wrong, but normally when a developer starts offering more free content than planned its to lessen the blow of an upcoming delay. That and the "still slated" comment doesn't give me much hope of it making the timeline.

I hope this is right thread to ask something.
I am thinking to buy game since I got T300RS and want to test something new on PC.

One question. How many size of GB for download via steam?
Thanks.

Hmm thanks, around 15gb or less download size I would think about it to buy it or wait for price drop.

Keep a very close eye on Steam. If it goes on sale it'll only be for a few days. A good time for a sale would be when they release the Dream Pack DLC in some kind of combo pack of original game + DLC. I got mine on a Steam sale for $23. Probably the most value I ever got from $23. Well there was that one time in Mexico...:sly:

Dear followers,

Our development team is working hard on the next release of Assetto Corsa, that will upgrade the main version of the game and will include important additions. We would also like to thank you for all the constructive criticism and helpful tips you submit to our official forums everyday helping our team to improve Assetto Corsa at the best.

Graphics
We are redefining some features related to post processing effects, HDR and particle rendering optimizations that improve graphics environment, lighting and framerate performance. The engine has been optimized in order to guarantee a more stable framerate in all conditions, including single-player and multiplayer races. Smoke effects have been also improved, fixing an issue that affected the performances when huge amount of smoke was generated, especially at race starts.

Artificial intelligence
CPU occupancy has been optimized to guarantee better and more stable performance. Furthermore, we worked to improve interaction of AI with each other and against the player car, as well as their "racing attitude”. The result is less collision accidents, better and more predictable lines and greatly improved race starts, delivering a better racing experience.

Flag and rules
The next build will introduce race flag and rules, including yellow, blue and black flags, both in single and in multiplayer. More details regarding this feature will be available at the release.

Overcast conditions
Next build will introduce the option to define the sky/weather conditions: player can choose between light/heavy fog, clean/light/heavy cloud, that affect lighting, visibility, track temperature, and so on, adding more immersion, different racing scenarios and environmental effects. As usual all the conditions are moddable and new ones can be created by the community.

Damages, views and sounds
Several parameters and functionalities related to damages, head movements, mirrors FOV values, reverberation and environmental sounds have been added or optimized, improving the overall driving and replay experience.

Replays
Assetto Corsa replays are universally appreciated for their fidelity, resulting in very realistic movements, car behaviour and camera management, but resulting also in high requirements in terms of hard disk and memory space. Unfortunately such big files are not easily handled by players who join or organize leagues and online championships. Next build will add quality settings options that allow up to 4x smaller sizes and longer replays.

Pre-order and release date
Assetto Corsa is not in Early Access anymore but that doesn’t mean that development is finished. As promised, the Dream Pack will also include several improvements, optimizations and new features. All the new code features will also be included for free on the main simulation, to allow gamers to enjoy Assetto Corsa and the new Dream Pack even more. However the process needs time to be completed. The release of the Dream Pack and of Assetto Corsa 1.1 is confirmed for Q1 2015. Thank you very much for understanding, for your kind support and passion.

The "off-track" Penalties are so harsh... :banghead:
Grid Autosport did it best I've seen so far. Your penalty was calculated based on how bad your violation was so you'd have penalties of less than a second sometimes. Kept the cars flowing pretty well too. Copy and paste to every game ever!!

This is such good news. I didn't expect this much work out of Kunos in such a short period of time. It really bodes well for the future of this game:D In 6 months to a year this could be the one game to rule them all if works continues at this pace. I want some more paid DLC so I can give them my full support:cool:

Nah, I don't think there will ever be a single game that rules them all - and variety is the spice of life!
AC has it's good points but so does R3E, Stock Car Extreme, rFactor 2, pCARS, etc.. Actually, for me, AC is down my list of preferred sim., but these updates and DLC will surely help AC.

I find the exact opposite to be true for me. The more I play AC the less I am liking my other sims. Don't get me wrong a lot still needs done to AC, but the physics are just top notch for me. I have done 1 official race in iracing in the last 3 months and found zero joy in that race, was just waiting for the time to run out so I could log off. I keep joining practice session in iracing thinking I will do a race only to run a few laps and just shake my head and load AC hoping to find something besides a GT race in AC.

Although I'm new to AC I like the fact that ac allows mods. it means you can experience almost anytype of racing you want. Granted it won't be as accurate In most cases but with the right people it doesn't matter. I will also say that the ac and pcars gtpforums are much nicer than any other on this site. However that may change for pcars once released.

Good catch!
I guess will wait for Spring or Summer Sales :)

I noticed they said 5GB download then folder is 12GB. I wasn't sure but I'll waiting when sale is coming.

The 5gb vs. 12 gb is download vs. installed size most likely. You'll need a lot more room than that however to include all the mod content. There are tons of tracks and cars you can download for free. I'd keep an eye on Steam every couple of days, the game could go on sale at any time and the sales usually only last a couple of days it seems. I was keeping an eye out and actually bought the game before I even had my PC:sly:

Yup, that's just it, everyone has their preferences. Certain elements of a racing sim may appeal to one player more than the next. And I doubt I will ever have just one that hits all of my targets.

Lol, the perfect sim...
I remember the guys at ISR have made a poll how to create the best SIM.
I think all of the SIM's in the market even a lot of not too much SIM (i don't like the simcade word) could have a part in it, ones more then others.

On their Facebook page Kunos is asking for our feedback regarding FOV:

"We would like to know your opinion about the value of FOV (field of view) that you usually choose with single screen mode. It is possible to answer even just indicating your favourite value. Thank you for your kind support!"

If AC read this forum, not everyone does the FB thing. hack spit. Any chance of another way to communicate this info?

That's an odd question. I wonder why they want that info?

Just went through the responses. I'm amazed how many people are using 50-70:eek::eek::eek: That console gaming habit is hard to shake:grumpy:

Been a while since I played, but I'm pretty sure that mine is between 50 and 70. Which is fine in my case. Can't really say anything about the fov figure alone, screen size and distance from it are as important factors.

Come at me bro.

I sit barely 2ft away from a 42" screen, lower than 50 just doesn't look or feel right that close to a big screen.

I sit 24 inch away from a 32 inch screen with a 37 degree vertical FOV and it feels fantastic. Like being there, no distortions, when I get close to an other car, it looks like it is close, the straights on the tracks do not look like a million miles long and the elevation and the radius look like the elevation and radius I can see in real life driving.

"Tripling the amount of screen real estate you have shouldn't simply add on to the "normal" distorted single monitor view you are use to. It should completely change and your gaming experience along with it.

I developed this theory with race simulators constantly trying to find not a competitive edge, but a way to push further toward realism. Owning pedals and an expensive wheel helps toward that end. Building an elaborate cockpit with gauges and a leather dashboard can improve the sense of being in a real car. I have even seen people dress in full fire-suits and crash gear to try and achieve a more realistic experience. After spending all that time and money building what they felt could help produce realism, realism in a race sim really only comes down to what is displayed on your screen and how your brain plans to interpret it.

Essentially This"

some simple measurements and adjustments to most games can change the experience from just a game into essentially Virtual Reality

I completely agree, adding triple screens (making sure I installed them at the right dimensions - as close to the wheel as possible and wrapping the side screens to give full peripheral vision) and using the proper set up tools to achieve the right FOV for them has been hands down the best modification I've done to my rig, it was only down to space issues that I didn't do it earlier.

Immersion is increased dramatically, the Simvibe helps with that but I could race without Simvibe, I don't think I could race with just a single screen any more.
