At What point will you concede?

Okay, so I am upset, well sue me, some think I am blowing this out of proportion, perhaps I am. The point I was trying to make is this: many people here seem to be professionals and/or working people, would you still have a job if you carried it out in the mannner that the honorable Kaz, or Sony for that matter, does?
I do understand that the creative process is not bound by time tables, however you don't just wake up one morning thinking "it's not perfect enough" so why anounce a release date. If the date cannot be kept due to unforeseen cirumstances at least be honest about it and try to give out the correct information.
Sony said that the new release date would be anounced before the end of october, it is almost a week later and nothing has been forthcoming.
I am not so much upset about the delay itself, but the unprofessional manner in which it is beeing handled.
I believe that as loyal CUSTOMERS we deserve to be treated with more respect.
If you still think I am overreacting, ask yourself this question: would you accept this from anyone else?

maybe its the spellingpolice? :)

personally, when i read stuff on a forum ect. i dont care at all about peoples grammar or anything, as long as the post is understandable OR the person who writes the post is willing to clarify any ... weird words or whatever.

thats just me. That being said, its of course a lot easier and nicer to read a well punctuated and correctly spelled post.

I'm not english myself, but i wish i was. :)anyways.. i read the main post of this and then the last page.. and now i forgot what this thread is all about.. so... heres a youtube link instead

Why on earth would you want to wish that?

Everything in the history of mankind has been delayed.

From acknowledging the logic and visible fact that Earth is NOT centre of the Universe, to actual deployment of Allied Forces to Normady, from first man travel into Orbit to the landing to the Moon.

Guns n' Roses delayed their last album for 12 years.

Iran delayed it's first nuclear plant for 3 decades.

Many people delayed their first sex untill getting marriaged.

You delay your death untill it finally comes.

Life is one big delay. Sooner you accept it, better for you.

If by the end of next week we get no release date, then I concede to the fact that march 2011 is our next target for release, which would suck because it would miss my birthday.
So let me get this straight. After mass producing GT5 you reckon Sony are going to intentionally keep the copies of GT5 in the warehouse and miss out on the busy holiday period!

Lets use some common sense. If what Kaz says is true then GT5 is finished and we are just waiting for Sony to announce when GT5 is released. Assuming production takes between 3-4 weeks then we can expect GT5 between end Nov-Xmas. My estimate is GT5 will be released on the 30th Nov for US, 3rd Dec UK, 4th Dec Australia. I missed out the other countries because I don't know when video games are normally released.

I would also like to add that some people need to get a grip. I've been frustrated with the delays but I also realise its only a video game and there are much more important things to worry about. If your only worry in life is when GT5 is going to be released then you're a very lucky person!!

Please actually try and read what I have written, I have quite clearly stated that it is NOT the delay that bothers me but the unprofessional manner in which it is beeing handled. Two differnt things, not so ?

Singularity is around the corner, I'll never die. I'll just become a machine! Buwhahahaha :D

well they probably want to have about 5 million copies for their first week and we know how fast they are producing them.

rate of production source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLaPL0JIlEQ

You can clearly calculate that kaz is personally producing about 1.7 million copies a week, so at that rate it should be around 3-4 weeks before they have enough stock to launch.

The wii,360 released on time. The Ps3 launch was delayed by Sony.I guess Sony likes delays better than anyone else. Not giving us a date by the end of the month isnt a part of the delay, but rather,a lie.Yes..they may or may not have reached the decision internally by that date, but they didnt intend customers with an english major level to interprete it either. They lied about before the end of the month to contain what couldve been a huge PR problem. Think about it.If you knew we wouldnt get an answer this far into November, would not have been more dissapointed back when they announced a delay?

kitchenboy3, my advice is to take advantage of MINOR PROBLEMS like the delay of a game. I did it, I decided to use those weeks or months to buy me a new wheel and cockpit, so when GT5 arrives I can play it with the best of the best (in my price range, of course...).

On the other hand, I wouldn't blame Kaz, I will always blame Sony. And it is not because my admiration for Kaz, it is because I have been an employee of a big multinational company (EMI Records) and I know how incompetent and troublemakers can be marketing departments. Games are a form of art, like music, if editors and marketers would let the "artists" alone things would be much better for all.

Sony are to blame. Not PD,at this time. Its like this,Ken Kutaragi ,the father of playstation brand.Inventor of the PS1 ,designer of the PS2 and the major proponent of the cell processor in the PS3 was majorly shafted by Sony, after the sales werent as great as expected, high price point for its inclusion of the blu-ray drive. They fired him as head of SCE.Well, lets say, they gave him an early retirement. What Im saying is,Sony is very much also an 'evil -mega corp' ,with the bottom line on their mind.Their holding us back to deprive us a bit.Then..they'll announce it.

Unconfirmed reports (for me they will be unconfirmed till I have the game in my grubby little paws) state a release date of 30/nov/10.
apparently this comes from Sony's website.
:)

Can you please make an effort to insert spaces after commas and full stops? I don't want to start another grammar/spelling/punctuation discussion but your posts are extremely difficult to read without spaces.

"your post"? You mean 'your posts'. How about you get down off of your high horse and take care of your own 'grammar/spelling/punctuation' rather than pontificating over everyone else on the forum.

LOL:):) My T-Shirt has the Star of David on the front and the legend "Victim of the Grammar Nazi's" on the back

Thanks for pointing out my typo.

I am not on my high horse and I am certainly not pontificating over everyone on the forum, read my post again and point out where I have been anything other than polite to KilzoneStrife. Can you honestly say his posts aren't difficult to read?

ROFLMAO. Ok, kind sir. Thankyou for pointing out the comma incident. I confess, it was infact me that committed this crime. I shall commit it no more, lest I be dunked under water and forced to confess to being a butcher of the English language or a wizard. Accept my humblest apology and forgive me of my sins. It is definitly an incident my english teacher wouldve chained me up like Quasi Modo and beaten me in public for. Such heresy, I feel ashamed. Surely, no human could live like this. Again, my apologies , language evangelist.

So let me get this straight, IVORBIGUN, I'm in a thread called "At what point will you concede?", meaning when is the latest "you" think we can wait without a release date before realizing it won't be out this year. You obviously completely misunderstand the reasoning for this thread and are a lot more upset about it the delay you care to "concede." Don't attack people for voicing their opinions, especially when all I did was answer the threads question which is more relevant to this topic than you were. Also as of now the whole its being pressed thing is pure speculation so let's use some common sense here.

 Much better...mostly ;)

Back on topic I'm 100% certain it'll be out by 17th December at the latest but if a new date hasn't been announced by the end of the month then I'll be about 1% certain it's coming this year.

I felt obliged to edit my post, just in case I was dragged into the middle of London and burned at the stake. It is worrying, that a type of people exist that love to display a certain way of bringing out a type of internal bitterness, they deem as an esteem goal, when they put people down with subliminal textualised attacks. Those people need help, Oprah, or maybe constructive projects. Like, building an orphanage, or finding a cure for cancer. Maybe, Folding@Home until GT5 arrives. On topic, from a mega corporation point of view, December 17th is too late. Only last minute shopping happens then. By December 7th , thats when I concede

About this whole grammar correction thing, is it not possible for the administrators to just send private messages to the people that are causing these "problems"? I only ask because when its posted for everyone to see, all it does is tie up the thread with people going back and forth.

IF No information come from Sony regarding the release date at what point will you think it's not coming this year?

IE. 1st week November
2nd week November.

I will concede that we MAY not have GT5 in 2010 if we hear nothing from Sony by November 30.
:)

I agree, not to mention the fact that it potentially embarrasses the culprit publicly.

Agreed!

Also, is 'Neal' a moderator?

Ever since I joined this forum, I never understood why everyone is so serious about grammar around here. If one is on a forum, rather than doing something productive, they obviously have enough time to decipher a wrongly-spaced post.

I've spent time on other forums trying to figure out what some person is trying to say when they attempt to use english rather than their native tongue. Now, THAT is difficult.

It kind of reminds me of Animal Farm . . . ,or maybe there are unwritten laws involving plus 1K posters. I dont know. I deserve to be placed on death row for my crimes, apparently.

I think it's mostly a matter of just because we have the time, doesn't mean the amount of time it takes to read a post should be longer because other people are too lazy to type properly. I type the same way no matter if it's for a paper for school or on a forum, just because it comes naturally. Text speak doesn't. The only exception is the chat room, where I tend to not capitalize.

Like people have said countless times though, if people have a problem that the board asks you meet certain grammatical standards, then don't join. Simple as that. I've seen the official PlayStation forums though, and I'm glad Jordan saw fit to include it in the AUP.

This is the reason why grammar is important on GTPlanet and one of the reasons why this forum has higher quality posts than the majority of the internet.

•You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

I'm not a moderator but that doesn't exclude me from politely asking another member to use proper punctuation so that their posts are easier to read, not everyone has the time to decipher poorly written posts. In future I won't waste my time trying to help another member and will just report the post if it warrants it.
