Zidane makes the mistake of thinking using manual gears is hard, and the mistake of thinking that people can't drive without making mistakes. When manual is easy, its like riding a bike, once you know how its the most natural thing in the world.
I do agree though he has done a fantastic job of trolling, most don't last 23 pages.

Auto is g@y even if it is faster. Wouldn't surprise me if it was on GT5 tho having also seen what people can do with pads up against racers with wheels.

Auto gay? Where do you come up with this stuff? Auto isn't as great as Manual, but I've seen real life drifters running Automatic trannies and they shift down to Low gear to help initiate Drift. I will admit though in the Video the Guy using it, went too fast into a Corner and almost killed the Option Video guy who always gets hit while filming. Look were all Drifters, and no one does stuff the exact same. Let's show some respect to others.

The fact that manual is faster than automatic is not up for debate. If you prefer to drive automatic nobody is going to stop you.
In my opinion though manual is just more fun. It is more engrossing and opens up aspects of driving/racing that are simply not present when using auto.

What sexual deal are you referring to?
Sometimes the word gay refer to "being feminine or womanish" which is a sign of weakness when it comes to men. (thus auto is a sign of weakness) That's why you never see anyone write "using Manuel is so lesbian". Still it's corrupt communication and should be avoided.

Still, I don't have a BMW or Ferrari with tiptronic or anything. I have an Acura TSX, and they have this Manual mode in which you control when to shift (except if you stop which automatically goes to 1st gear). I still notice there's a big gap between my shifting to a new gear and the car actually shifting to said gear, so I don't know if tiptronic really is better than what my Acura can do or not. Anyways, for racing, I prefer Manual, it's more fun. At least in my opinion it is.

In the real world the differences between automatic and manual are becoming blurred. The Porsche PDK is an automatic, double clutch transmission which can shift faster than a human and is a true double clutch transmission not a torque converter. One clutch handles 1,3,5, and 7 and the other 2,4, and 6. The car can shift up or down almost instantly because the alternate gears are already engaged.
The driver can select between sequential manual shifting using paddles or an automatic with different levels of aggressiveness in the shift points.
The fully automatic mode is faster from 0 to 100kmh because it incorporates a launch control mechanism which both applies power more smoothly and hits the shift point accurately in the low gears. In high powered cars it is very difficult to hit the shift from 1st to 2nd accurately off the line.
It is my understanding the the paddle controlled PDK transmissions produces lower lap times at Nurburgring than the manual transmission on a Turbo.

Sure, if you are driving just for fun, then I would chose manual everyday.
But when you are stuck in the traffic jam, don't tell me that manual is nice

I don't doubt that. As much as I love a proper manual gearbox and will probably never buy a dual clutch (or any other form of manual gearbox without a clutch pedal), I appreciate that the latter is definitely faster.
As for the auto vs. manual debate (in real life), an auto is only an "auto" if it has a torque converter. It's the torque converter that I don't like, not so much the fact that the car shifts for me.
If I had to chose between an automatic and a dual clutch, I would take the dual clutch any day (or a robotised manual with a single clutch).

Sexual orientation and the post I was refering to it apeared as though the implication was either that the transmission was homosexual or whoever uses an auto transmission is homosexual.
I have never heard of someone saying gay to mean a feminine man who is not homosexual, usually the term for that is 'girl'.

Two, I was completely unaware that transmissions, being the inanimate objects that they are, had sexual preferences.
Three, what relevance does a skilled player with a pad going toe-to-toe with wheels users have with, well, anything?

When using the DS3, I employ X for upshifts and square for downshifts. I think it's more ergonomical than using square/circle buttons.
By the way, I also use circle for horn, triangle for flashlights, right stick back for reverse, R1 for handbrake in addition to L2/R2 for brake/throttle and left stick for steering. Perfect setup for the controller, in my opinion.

Auto also looses a lot of stopping power due to lack of engine braking.
I highly doubt anyone driving Auto (with no interference with holding gears) IN GT5 could beat the laptimes I could do with a manual on the same car and track.

my auto golf vr6 has a variable learn function on the auto box and if i drive fast enough and hard enough it revs out to the red line it is so much fun and soon to be turbo'd
but for racing there is no substitute for manual as you can use the gears to slow the car but i do tend to use auto with controller and manual with my wheel i must get used to manual with controller its so much better

Yo man i agree 100%. This is one of the main reasons a wheel makes you a better driver. I have ham for hands and it's not the easiest thing in the world to shift Manually with a DS3, prefer a wheel, with Paddles or a Stick. I had one for the PS1/2 but not for the PS3
But a Manual is faster, no doubt, and anyone who thinks otherwise is just ignorant.- Status
