It's the trading them off to low level players who haven't earned the right to even have to cars. Again, I know I know, watch how many reply not grasping that and just see that someone is telling them what they can and can't do with their game. It's the issue of credits don't mean anything anymore as well.

If you were born, you have a right to every car in the game. You don't even need to own the game. Nothing done in game makes anyone any more worthy of anything.

As for credits, they were only a pain and nothing more, at least as far as I was concerned. What kind of simulator has credits? Why would the value of credits be related to trading/duping anyway?

I like the mods point about the colored x1 trade thread, cause lets see you have to get to level 40, and if you wanted to be a hardcore, legit earner player that means, if you wanted to buy every color x1 for some odd reason that is what 10 12 different colors times 20 million a go? So buy one you are flat broke, have fun driving indy for about 12 hours with the current cr payout and probably more like 18 hours once the cr is nerfed after jan 11th to afford the second one sounds REALLY fun to me (Sarcasm there just so you know).

So yes lets ban gifting, lets ban trading period, lets ban save backup, and lets ban the whole online portion of the game, so we can stop having endless whining about how cheaters ruined the game for you.

Heck i think we would all be much happier healthier and the forums would be a lot tidier if gt5 was more like gt4, no silly xp grind, lot less silly cr grind, you could sell cars you did not want for a decent return to the game, i imagine the fact you cannot sell cars for much and you cannot even sell the super expensive cars for anything was the fact you could GIVE them to people if you did not want them. So there is more motivation to give cars out than sell them to the game for virtually nothing.

I did the math a while back, using the X1 to grind Indy, it would only take 13.3 hours to make 20,000,000 cr without the cr/XP boost.

How can a game be so good and so bad at the same time?

Someone else using the exploit to buy cars without losing money isnt taking away from your achievement of collecting all of the cars, Pokémon style. Its only the rampant distribution of these cars that devalue them.

Personally I feel the exploit isn't hurting the game or the community at all, it just a means to an end, negating the need to the repeating of the cash-cow events like the Indy 5 lap race.

Id also recommend you remove your suggestion that Mr NOS should copulate with himself or you might feel a reprisal from the powers that be.
I'm not sure there is or would be any "rampant" distribution of cars either and I agree with you about the community aspect. Was your post supposed to somehow be an inflection of what I was suggesting, I'm not sure I understand?

I'm yet to receive a gift car from anyone which probably just means I have misers for friends, or I'm not very well liked. Couldn't care less either way.

I did edit my final comment, but not because I care about the reprisals of moderators, but because NOS_waster did the right thing in offering an apology which I accepted. For the record, I don't think much of the GTPlanet moderators (or the terms of use) but I'll save that for an appropriate thread or any relevant and / or direct PM's that may ensue. The only thing I agree is to accept both the mods & terms and to be civil.

Cool. Apology accepted. Just remember that most / many / some (?) of us are normal, real and nice people enjoying GT5 immensely just for what it is. Not everyone who posts comments / ideas on the Internet always does so looking for a fight or a battle of wits.

As I believe I stated, I'm not against the idea of gifting to other PSN users, it's a good way to help brand new GT gamers to get started. Maybe there could be a limit on the number of completely free gifts between PSN users before a "gimping tax" is added - I don't know, just ideas...?

The only nagging point going on in my head is that I'm not overly fond of the idea of people exploiting the game to collect all 1031 cars (or at least the 1000 for the trophy). Not that this exploit is personally offensive - so I don't actually "care" - provided that friends / colleagues / associates / forum posters (on here) aren't trying to repeatedly shove the fact down my optic nerves in an attempt to blind me with their so-called brilliance. The problem isn't so much with the exploit, it's with the people who make a big deal about the rewards offered by the game. A lot is made of it and with stuff like GT Academy going on, I guess it's no surprise...

Perhaps this "petition" should be to GT players and for GTPlanet players to sign up & honourably agree that they won't exploit / abuse the game if they're in any way meaning to be competitive with other players about trophies or whatever. People can just as easily make a big deal of the fact that hitting certain barriers a certain way yields a time penalty, but other collisions don't (or some other "exploit")... I'd consider it to be more "fair" if the time penalty was tallied up and added on to the final race time with race results being based on final time over track position, but I'm not sure it's actually "a good idea".

Life's not perfectly balanced. It doesn't have to be. Games are not perfectly balanced. They don't have to be.
That's life and that's video games. I enjoy both.

The way you say you use the scam just sounds like you've found another way for you and your friends to have more fun with the game. Who am I to knock it? It's good that you're enjoying the game...

Thanks.

I think that is a good idea, but I think it could be better if with every gift after the free gifts, it charges the person gifting an increasing amount, instead of gimping the car.

For example: After 1 or 2 free gifts, it charges the gifter 50,000 CR for the first, 100,000 CR for the second, 200,000 CR for the third, etc. The only problem is people could still exploit this, so the "gimping" of the car seems to be the only feasible way to prevent mass exploitation.

Maybe the gifting tax could be required to be paid before selling a car and the car has to sit in your garage for a set amount of days before being able to sell it.

Those are just ideas, but that "gimping" tax could be a great idea to stop mass duplicating.

But, yeah. The gimping tax seems to be a good idea :)

i actually just signed up and read through this entire post while my b-spec driver does his dream car champ lol. but anyways i see how using a car exploit can feel like cheating, but all it does is make the game more enjoyable to those who dont have the time or want to waste the time grinding through nonsense just to enjoy a game they payed for with REAL money. i like to play call of duty online and the people that hack that game to use aimbots or lack switches is infuriating and that is the kind of thing that should be stopped. but this, this isnt hacking nor detrimental to gameplay in any way. if someone used a higher level car against you online but they got it legitimately, does that make them less of a cheater than someone who duped it just because they grinded for it the normal way? the answer is no. and to all the people that use real life metaphores for this game, grow a noggin. people find ways around the system in real life to, they are called inventors and inovators. look at bill gates, he created the primary operating system for the entire world, but did he grind his way through multiple jobs just to obtain a mealsy salary. no, he played around with computers and eventually created windows out that. this is just a game, a novelty, ment to be played as such for enjoyment in freetime away from all the bologna of work and real life. if your a hardcore dork... whoops i mean gamer, well i kinda am too so lol, then thats your choice, but dont think your high and mighty just because you dedicate your life to one thing. this doesnt affect other peoples game saves or crash online servers, all it does is make normal people happy. the only people who want this completely stopped is elitist dictators who are just mad cause other people found a way to obtain the same thing as them thorugh easier means. well boohoo, the guy that created something as simple and stupid as facebook is now a billionaire but people that work a career as lets say, a car mechanic or construction worker, have to work incredibly hard daily to acheive enough to get them by. the world isnt always fair, people find easier ways of doing things, its called innovation

Thanks for having such high regard for us...

But seriously... we're only human, it's given that we are not perfect, and if there is any criticism that needs to be voiced, well, the Site Feedback section is always open for candid discussions on what we may be doing right or wrong.

I'm not going to pretend that we're always perfectly right, but at least we try to take moderation action only within the rules as set by our site administrator. And at the very least, we do not use our powers to ban or infract people because we don't agree with them... otherwise, it would be impossible for us to enter discussions or debates, and as you see, some of us are very fond of both. I've given infractions and warnings to people I like, mind you. And some of us have been on the receiving end of warnings, also, before we became moderators.

Whatever we may personally think of the terms of use, they're there. We didn't write them, we just enforce them. They may seem silly or harsh to outsiders, but they help make GTP what it is, for better or for worse. And I honestly believe it's better than most, having seen my fair share of boards go downhill due to issues directly addressed by the AUP.

On a positive note: I thank you and NOS Waster for ending your exchange amicably. It's nice to see coolheadedness prevail for once... as it's something that has been in short supply of late in these endless debates about GT5. It takes a mature person to be able to step back from a fight like that. Thank you. 👍

Not sure their intention was to ever make the game meaningless in car acquiring or credit spending. I mean what a waste the game as become in just over one month. The real sad fact is I'm seeing the game on Craigslist for $30 now. So it's dropped half in value in the same just over a month. At that rate, game won't even be talked about in another month, lol. Then this place will go back to what it was before hand. As I see thousands of new accounts that came here just to talk about this game.
Yes. Car duplication is obviously to blame for this. Of course.

Again, duplicating cars for ones "own" personal enjoyment is far different then the black market we see happening.
The entire marketplace is a black market. It doesn't matter whether the cars used in trading were legitimate or not, because PD have gone out of their way to prevent trading in the first place. That wasn't the purpose of the gift system, and the frequent strengthening of the system's intentional limitations makes it all the more obvious.

It's the trading them off to low level players who haven't earned the right to even have to cars. Again, I know I know, watch how many reply not grasping that and just see that someone is telling them what they can and can't do with their game.
Which is exactly what you are doing, so the comparison is completely warranted.

Let's say PD bans gifting today...

Then, someone will raise a petition to ban cars that were gifted/duped already.

Let's say PD obliges...

Then, someone will raise a petition to ban credits earned using duped cars.

Let's say PD obliges...

Then, someone will raise a petition to ban cars bought with credits earned using duped car.

And it will go on.

Long story short - gifting/duping will never be banned/fixed. Live with it!

I have a problem with this logic. It is faulty because it uses the "slippery slope" concept.
It is possible that that chain of events could happen, but one would never know for sure.

I would be sure that if PD removed the gifting feature, there would be an absolute uproar from almost everyone that plays Gran Turismo.

Anyhow, who's to say that couldn't happen? It's possible.

the "slippery slope" concept

I have no idea what that is nor do I want to google it but 'slippery slope' reminds me of those awesome downhill corners in Seb. Loeb rally challenge. That was fun. :)

So what you're saying is you prefer to climb barefooted and naked up the ski hill instead of jumping on the lift? After doing this you want a medal for it? On top of that you'd like to punish the ones who've realized there is a ski lift and have used it?

Go whine somewhere else.

Lol, I for one won't be signing this.

It really annoys me how some people keep going on about how other people got their cars, if you don't like it you don't have to use it - but where is the harm to YOU in other people getting the cars that they want? Both parties had to at some point acquire the car in the first place! And as for the grinding to get the cars you want, thats the part of the game I HATE, I haven't the time for s**t like that I actually have a life that I need to live.

Rant over, I'm off to do some trading/duping - good day to you sir!

Like I was addressing you in that quote? You people are so funny. You cheat and turn a blind eye to it, lol. So you are a cheater. Not much of a surprise nowadays. I mean anything online has cheaters, glitchers, boosters and exploiters. Just like life, some humans can't do it unless they find an easy path. Won't make you a level 40 player still now will it?

again, get all the cars in the game you like how ever. But this thread is about PD fixing it so there is no black market. So the online is not flooded with X1's. Unless everyone just makes rooms with limits. Either way, I think these talks are pointless for all.

What you seem incapable of realising is that being a level 40 in xp means nothing about how skillful you are in a skill based racing game. It is simply a measure of how long you have played the game. Do you understand? Level does not equal skill.

This is a skill based racing game, no matter what car you choose you have to be able to drive it faster than the competition.

Let's say you are so awesome that you were the only person in the world to be able to grind long enough to buy an x1. What are you going to do with it then? You won't be able to race it online and have fun, competetive races if you're the only x1 owner can you? The only thing you could do is create a signature proclaiming to everyone you have a car that you can't race against anyone.

You are welcome to use the game as a car collecting game, press buttons repeatedly to 'earn' credits and 'experience'. You can even pretend you are the only one in the world with an x2010 by not racing it against anyone.

Maybe some people simply like to have the demo looping as just a screen saver, I don't know.

The rest of us would like to be able to race competetive cars against the computer and each other regardless of artificial concepts like xp level.

You don't have to remind me of nothing. I been in this game since day one. What you see as whining goes to should you as a mod of this site. Clearly they pick kids who support anything. Yes I know you cheat the system too. You are not better or worse then the rest. Can't earn it so go exploit it.

Talking about whinnying little kids. You and all the rest with your daily "excuses" of why you can't play the game correctly. Of course this is going to happen when legit players and players that look for exploits come together. Then you are a fine example of that too as a mod. As I've said before, the mistake PD did here was make it open ended to be abused like this. So it's not all the players looking to cheat the system fault. So don't take it as so much hate to you guys. The thread here is about PD fixing the issue. Not having the exploiting players come in and talk about all the excuses or reasons why they cannot play this game legitimately. Which I for one call total BS on. Why? Because you think everyone else here doesn't work? Doesn't have school, other factors in real life to address on a daily basis?

By the way, unless you have more then 3 decades of hardcore gaming under your belt. Then you having nothing remotely close to I. I still own all my consoles dating back to 1982. Even my first at 1978 which was a hand held. So please save the "kid " comments for someone else.

Fact reminds no matter how you address it. You either play legit or you don't.

Stop worrying about what everybody else is doing. If you want to play online a certain way, then create your own room and cap the damn horse power....
I'm not a big fan of having features taken from a game after I purchased it... (Anybody remember the NFS:Prostreet Fiasco?)

Who cares about your extensive background in Gaming? That has nothing to do with the thread.
Sounds like the whole lot of you are hating just to hate.
Who are you to tell me how I should play MY game offline?

I bet you are one of those cats that want to censor the internet too? I bet you actually think Wikileaks did something BAD don't you?

Problem solution. Just delete all cheaters you know, and you won't ever meet them online as they play with their cheated cars they didn't deserve! end of the story and this is my opinion and how I do. Dont even try to jump on me defending yourself, it will only show how bad you are! Whoever you are I dont care.. just hope I will never meet those kind of people (still my opinion, lets keep it that way).

Gifting is stated as a community feature in the hard copy game manual in the Blu-ray box so it is never going to be removed from the game. A petition to ban gifting is therefore completely pointless. If you don't like it then don't use it, just enjoy your own game and stop worrying about how other people are enjoying theirs.

So how is the petition going? How many lunatics... I mean signatures have you got so far?

hmm might be time to start the vs. petition of an additional gift ticket per 10 lvl's of A & B-spec completed...to a maximum of 5 per day 💡

hahaha. I love reading all of these comments and threads from people like you (thread starter). Get over yourself, get a life, and find another hobby besides trying to dictate how other people who spent their hard earned money, play THEIR game how THEY want to, in the TIME THAT THEY MAY HAVE IN THEIR LIFE (which clearly you have MUCH more of, if this bothers you THAT much)

THEY SHOULD JUST CHANGE THE "GIFT" THING TO "SHARE". SO EVERYONE CAN SHARE CARS WITH FRIENDS AND COLLECT THEM ALL FASTER

I'm tired of Indy event :grumpy:

As I said earlier in the thread gifting/trading is ok but duping has killed legit marketplace trading for me personally cars I earned legitimately are worth nothing now, this diminishes my enjoyment of the game as I now wont trade with dupers in the marketplace and it effects my single player experience as the legit traders are mostly if not all gone from that section. Gifting was never meant to be "trading" per say but thats what it evolved into at a very early stage.

Please fix this somehow PD.

Call me a sook call me a whinger whatever IDC. I still support the OP.

Woohoo! How many petitions do we have now?

And people can do what they like online providing it's not offensive to other players. If you don't like trading, don't do it and just ignore it. But other people do trade and wanna trade.

LOL I love how everyone is flaming this guy...

2 Point's here

A: GIFTING is part of the game (and duping for that matter even as an exploit)

B: TRADING & The "Marketplace" is NOT part of the game

Your a sook :sly: (walked into that one), personally I think the whole trading / marketplace here is bollocks that's 100% WHY trading isn't in the ****ing game and GIFTING is, your supposed to GIVE cars away not trade them this isn't an RCE* MMO it's bloody Gran Turismo (Hot Wheels for Grown Ups as I like too think of it )

(*real cash economy - look up entropia universe i'e there I have a gun worth 2.2k USD REAL MONEY or COLD HARD CASH!!! in that RCE people spend 10's of thousands of dollars, compare that to a little virtual hot wheels c'mon kid suck it up...)

YOUR CARS ARE WORTH NOTHING OTHER THAN WHAT YOU PAID FOR THEM, and to someone else this is ZERO unless that person spent the same money on the same car in their game...

I'e they spent the same amount of "time" to earn the cash to buy it....

VOTE #1 an additional gift ticket per 10 lvl's of A & B-spec completed...to a maximum of 5 per day

I like the "Gift"-feature a lot. First think I´ve done, when a friend bought GT5 and started playing was giving him a car to have a better start.

But there should be a reglement by Sony to forbit selling cars via Ebay. I hate it when people ignore copyrights, terms and property rights by developers and try to make money out of everything.

PD, probably wont include it in GT6 because of all the exploits (the way it was supose to work was a nice feature and idea) but I dont think they will take it off GT5.

I myself only used it twice once to gift a car that I had two of to a friend and once to make a trade.

the marketplace trading was never legit to begin with and I was the first one to open a thread whinning about how the patch ruinned the gift utility but the fact is that it was ruinned before that with the trading - it was never ment to be used for that - if it was it wouldnt be called gift - it would be called - trade/send whatever

So after thinking about it I just came to the conclusion that I should mind my own business and let other people enjoy/exploit the game the way that they feel suits them the best - and I suppose that in GT6 PD wont include the gift utility or better yet they might include a shop/trading post for every player

I am looking forward to a day, perhaps a year or so down the line, when all that is left is the online game.

Imagine this scenario. You create a Lobby, and specify 395bhp, 1100kg, MR as the parameters. You want to use a certain car (it's great for this track), but you have upgraded it past the limit. Unless some sort of detune patch comes around from PD (which would make the whole point moot), if you have used the exploit, you have maybe three or four identical cars, all upgraded to different specs. If not, you have the ONE...

THIS, and this alone has been my main problem with this exploit. I could care LESS what you all do on your own time, on your own dollar. But when I go online, I want to feel that I am not placed at a disadvantage by those willing to exploit this loophole. That is all that concerns me. Play the game how YOU want. But when an exploit gives a decided edge to those that use it, and disadvantage those that don't, you ruin the BALANCE of the game. There is going to come a day when playing the same few A-Spec races against boringly predictable AI no longer satisfies you (mind you, maybe most that use this exploit probably will remain satisfied by the easy win, I suppose!), and you are going to think that playing online is the savior of this game. How will you THEN think about those with micro-tuned race garages that they obtained by exploiting the game save? When you have to enter Lobbies without the perfect car at the perfect spec?

I'll be interested in seeing how many of you now condoning this exploit (when you aren't abusing it like others) find that things have long-term consequences.

Oh, 🤬 it! I give up! If you can't beat them, cheat! I shall be using this exploit night and day from now on. I'll have multiple copies of every car, at multiple tunes and upgraded status... See you online!
