Spongebob Deleted at the behest of Sony Computer Entertainment America.

While I love the F.U.N. song nearly as much as the C.A.M.P.F.I.R.E. song, let's not get sidetracked with amusements. Topic please.

Its all fine! Keep this place in peace 👍

Roll eyes all you want. I think the same way as you. Sorry for the delay in response. Real life had me needing to do something else.

I have all golds on the licenses (which I achieved within 24 hours of having the game). I did it, again, on a secondary save. I've golded all the Special Events, again, on both saves. My GTP_Registry save is sitting at levels 33/31 right now, my secondary (which is actually my main PS3 account), is at 26/0. I have... 4 endurances left in B-Spec, and 8 in A-Spec, on that GTP account.
Yep, I've duplicated cars; I sent an X1 to my secondary account, and an FGT. Should I really have to grind for both of them again when I've already achieved it? Because PD saw fit to not allow us to copy saves originally, I was more than a bit annoyed that my two PSN accounts would have to have separate saves. This fixes it somewhat.

Oh wow, congrats on those accomplishments. As I'm not aware because I'm not a mind reader. Oh which what does that have to do with you exploiting the game for cars? Zero maybe. Or did you really think you were going to impress me and what I've do thus far in this game? Again, duplicating cars for ones "own" personal enjoyment is far different then the black market we see happening. Which again, is what this topic is about correct? It's the trading them off to low level players who haven't earned the right to even have to cars. Again, I know I know, watch how many reply not grasping that and just see that someone is telling them what they can and can't do with their game. It's the issue of credits don't mean anything anymore as well.

Please, point me to where there's a write up on what constitutes "correctly". You still haven't answered; how'd you buy all the coloured X1's? There's literally no way to have earned enough credits to buy them all this quickly after the game's been out.

So are you guessing here at my statement or just misreading it.? I don't have one colored X1 as of yet. I have just under 17 million points on hand. I do not trade anything at anytime. So I would fall under the "personal enjoyment" category if I "were" to choice to go that route. Your question has just been answered.

This reeks of back-peddling after countless posts from you specifically doing just that (the "hate to you guys" bit). You've even taken to heading into threads for no other purpose than to criticize those in there in the Marketplace. So no, it isn't just about the mistake PD made, at least evidently for you.

Back peddling, far from it. I know when I'm wasting my time and I do understand what caused the issue. For that is what I've been stating.

Again, define "legitimately". I can enter a Veyron in the hot hatch race: PD left that open. This duplicating exploit is a similarly obvious over-sight, and admittedly, should be easy to fix. But for whatever reason, they didn't. At least, if they ever plan on it, not yet anyways.

Hmm, just answered your own question. Was it really that hard? Or just hard to come out and say to where the public could read it?

The only one tossing out the kid comments here (repeatedly) is you. Making broad, inaccurate generalizations about members is toeing a line here.
Nevermind the laughable idea that the only opinions with weight are ones from people with similar amounts of time experience with games as you. If someone comes along with their first experience starting at 1977...

Funny, you are not using it as well? Maybe because if I am in my 40's and the general population is in their teens and twenties. My assessment would rather be quite correct. But since you think you are so insightful. Then if I do use that word often as you do as well. Then you would have already seen me talk about how long I have been gaming since there was a few threads about it and one about our kids playing. I mean since wisdom and being a mod must go hand in hand.

Fact remains you play however you want to play, and don't get off dictating how others should play.

That is correct and the fact remains you should practice what you preach and stay on subject to the thread. This thread is about those who don't like the " oversite by PD ". Not you exploiters who don't want to see a change in your exploiting ways. Where even credits don't mean anything anymore.

by the way, 4 endurances left in B-Spec is a long long time away from 40. Like 10 24hr races if I'm reading what you are saying here..... 35 is not close to 36, 37 is way away, then 38, 39,40. It's like 13 24hr races and one 9 hr races and one 4hr race is what I did to get there just from level 35 to 40.

I would save your breath in regards to zBlackTT.

He's a 41 year old guy with far too much interest in how a lot of other people choose to enjoy a game they paid for. I had this argument with him in a previous thread in the same vein when the birthday exploit was being discussed.

He will constantly throw out ridiculous generalizations about people cheating in this game and how it obviously is a reflection on their real lives, how their parents brought them up, their value system etc etc etc. He will constantly put far too much weight into how his view of "playing the game correctly" is obviously objectively the absolute truth.

And when all else fails he resorts to his accomplisments in real life as a business owner and HARDCORE gamer for OVER 30 YEARS as a substitute for any validity in regards to the actual argument. It's tough to have an objective discussion with people like this who are a bit deluded and far too invested in what still remains as a video game with NO real tangible effect on real life.

What can you really do other than enjoy the game like you will anyways and enjoy their angsty anguish as a side.

There is nothing to state in this that hasn't been stated already. Play the game as you will so long as you don't tangibly affect someone else's gameplay. If people want to be offended and angry about something that really exists only in their mind as a principle violated/subjective enjoyment lost/jealousy/time spent on internet whining...then so be it. Carry on everyone that is having fun racing and taking photos and whatever else.

Petition not signed.

Next Petition. No DLC please, we can't stand the idea that some kid with too much pocket money could buy a car he didn't have to grind for.

Like I was addressing you in that quote? You people are so funny. You cheat and turn a blind eye to it, lol. So you are a cheater.

cheating involves doing something against the rules to win, but I am not winning anything. I don't need the Nardo to win the game, but I enjoy driving it. So I acquired one easily and am now enjoying driving it. Where have I used this to advance in the game and 'win7?

Not much of a surprise nowadays. I mean anything online has cheaters, glitchers, boosters and exploiters whiners.

Fixed that for you.

Just like life, some humans can't do it unless they find an easy path mind their own business and stop projecting their viewpoints on others.

Fixed that for you.

Won't make you a level 40 player still now will it?

I don't want to become a level 40 player. I bought the game to drive only a select few cars. My advancing levels in the game is only a direct result of my driving cars I enjoy in certain events.

Come to think of it, now that licenses count for nothing in this game and trading is part of it, it seems PD has done away with the need to be skilled.

I think the count is 2-3 support it.

Is there even one person for this?

lol, all one can think is PD actually does read this site and sees the issues people talk about. Not sure their intention was to ever make the game meaningless in car acquiring or credit spending. I mean what a waste the game as become in just over one month. The real sad fact is I'm seeing the game on Craigslist for $30 now. So it's dropped half in value in the same just over a month. At that rate, game won't even be talked about in another month, lol. Then this place will go back to what it was before hand. As I see thousands of new accounts that came here just to talk about this game.

I can guarantee none of that is from people duping a car.

Also, how does making cars easier to get in a game about driving cars make it meaningless?

Not for me. I'm enjoying it more than ever. Now that I don't have to grind against a bunch of crappy AI to get a meager reward that I have to save to buy even one car I want to drive.

Now I am driving a lot of cars I want to drive doing practice laps just for the hell of it.

We all have our own interpretation. We can also be who ever and whatever we want here on the Internet can't we? Your fixes are invalid to me and mean more to you. You are not a level 40 player so just go be what ever it is you can. Because again, you have not rated it to even think you can relate. Now go fix that. Also, for one that says he has as much time invested in this world of gaming. You certainly are putting "personal enjoyment" and " online exploiting" together here. We've clarified that more then a few times don't you think? Unless you are not reading the thread. What you do with your own game is of no concern and not even the topic.

Hey ummm, Jerry, can I call you that? You seem like a Jerry to me...can you explain to me how telling B-spec Bob to grind endurance races for you is in any plausible way, YOU, yourself earning each of these colored X1s? Seems to me you are exploiting the fact you can do a race over and over with B-spec to get credits you really didn't earn by driving...weird.

Wonder if I can petition PD to stop people from using B-spec to earn credits once they've completed the race once. Seems like you should earn your X1s the hard way by grinding. Gosh, you surely like to take the easy way out and let someone else do your work for you. Must be how you approach your business too...own it, sit at home and play GT5 and get paid while others actually do the work for you...

Seems like a pattern Jerry.

So what is the topic than?

I lol'd...as I think you are serious. ( it's "then" to btw )

Case in point, lol..... We all get that there are lazy people that game. Congrats on all "you've" accomplishment because it doesn't sound like "you've" actually done much of anything on your own. Sounds like one of just the many excuses all the others come up with. This conversation is meanings since I don't really care to invest the time to talking to those that haven't even invested as much as some in the game. How could you even feel that effort when you haven't given any. Going back to playing now.

Gifting cars and other exploits are marketing schemes to get more car enthusiats involved in the game. Do you realise how many PS3s and GT5's have been sold because of it?

It is no different than when Bill Gates first came out with DOS & Windows for the first 8088 PCs. It was an open book at first, for those who don't remember or know. Now he has the market on lock.

If gifting is going to make a profit in Internet Connectivity, Consoles and Game sales, it is not going to be corrected in any way, fashion or form. So longst people are enjoying it and spending real dollars.

Edit: Forgot to mention, plus the ever growing sales of Wheel sets and their ever growing price tags, to boot.

Not sure if this has been said before or not, [not going to read 12 pages] However, a solution to the duping would simply to be to code some sort of simple unique 'serial number' for every car you own which is tied with your gamer tag for example. That way your career logs all said serial numbers for every car you own and buy...
so when a duped car is traded back into the original save the game can recognise this

^ he's actually got a point, remember back in the day when the first PSX modchip was released, sony's consoles and game sales skyrocketed. (:

No answer for my question huh? No answer to how you restarting B-spec races over and over with 2 buttons is in no way lazy? Or is an example of YOU actually playing the game and earning your cars huh?

Didn't think so. Weird how when faced with your own flaws and horrid logic, you have nothing to say.

The real sad fact is I'm seeing the game on Craigslist for $30 now. So it's dropped half in value in the same just over a month.

And now you are concerned with how much the actual disc sells for?? Are you seriously kidding me? How does it affect you in any way how much someone else is paying for this game? For a business owner, you sure seem to have a loose grasp of supply and demand and the many other factor affecting the used game market.

Go back to work man, pump some more iron, do some work on your cars...you need some more perspective.

I lol'd...as I think you are serious. ( it's "then" to btw )

I am being serious, what is the topic of this thread?

From what I know duping is basically tied into your own game, it gives you no competitive advantage online. Giving some kid an X2010 doesn't mean crap if he has no clue how to drive it.

(It's "too" btw)

Let the kid enjoy his pissing contest.

I haven't bothered to use the gifting 'scam' at all, too busy racing and enjoying the game for what it is. However, I have gifted at least one car to someone so I think the ability to offer cars has a place. That being said, there is a way to get around the scams involved in gifting whilst keeping the feature useful and thankful.

What I would like to see is:-

* Gifting cars. If a friend is gifted a car, the performance of the gifted car is automatically gimped to 75% of the default / standard BHP for the car. In order to recover the car to 100% standard BHP, the friend would be forced to pay to overhaul the engine before being able to purchase any upgrades.

* Online auctioning of cars - publicly only (i.e. not exclusive to friends) and with a minimum 24hr, maximum 72hr time limit - with a cheap but reasonable handling fee (e.g. 1000 CR per 24hr). A minimum selling value of 25% of market price should be enforced with a % sale value (again minimum of 25%) that needs to be met for the car to sell. Come back later to see if your car got sold and to receive credits...

* Online selling of cars - may be done privately (to friends) but cars cannot be sold for anything less than 10% of their market value (car original value taking into account years & mileage). A mutually beneficial alternative to gifting but with a known & guaranteed sale - unlike auctioning (could cost 3000 CR and no sale).

* A "Used Car Dealership: Order Car" function (essentially running a search for any "Standard" car) with the consequence of having to pay the car's current market value + an order fee. Waiting for the cars I need to show themselves in the used car dealership is beyond being a nuisance and I'd gladly pay a bit more to get the car I need now.

Oh wow, congrats on those accomplishments. As I'm not aware because I'm not a mind reader. Oh which what does that have to do with you exploiting the game for cars? Zero maybe. Or did you really think you were going to impress me and what I've do thus far in this game?

And this is why the rolleyes was necessary. When whinging about "legitimate" playthrough, I've just presented you with the fact I've played through the game that way, to a further level than you have (as B-Spec is hardly playing or learning to drive yourself), and you shrug it off.

Again, duplicating cars for ones "own" personal enjoyment is far different then the black market we see happening.

True, but this petition would seek to get rid of both. Not to mention this "black market" you speak of, and the constant mention of cars' worth in it, is nothing more than a user-developed construct. There is no market in GT5, players have created it themselves.

Which again, is what this topic is about correct? It's the trading them off to low level players who haven't earned the right to even have to cars.

They paid their money, they want their cars. Did I enjoy "earning" my X1, by running the Vettel challenge? Yep. But others want to play the game differently. I see no problem with that. And I definitely don't see a problem with someone willing to duplicate cars away, for nothing but "donations" if people deem it necessary, to as many other players as they want (see the large coloured X1 thread in the Marketplace by AsianOnRoute69). They have a sharing attitude, and want as many people to have access to these cars as possible. Mis-representing a duplicated car as something that was hard-worked for is something I don't like, as its dishonest, but that's about the only complaint I can see. And that isn't a game problem, but a problem with the user.

Again, I know I know, watch how many reply not grasping that and just see that someone is telling them what they can and can't do with their game. It's the issue of credits don't mean anything anymore as well.

They do until you hit 20 million :p. Not to mention that duplicating is only really beneficial for expensive cars. For anything under a million, it's faster to just buy the car if its available, and earn the money back by racing. The same reason I didn't see much use for the birthday glitch other than the Terrible Trio.

So are you guessing here at my statement or just misreading it.? I don't have one colored X1 as of yet. I have just under 17 million points on hand. I do not trade anything at anytime. So I would fall under the "personal enjoyment" category if I "were" to choice to go that route. Your question has just been answered.

Just was checking if you planned on buying each individual colour without using the exploit. As in, spending 20 million each and every time. Now that you're adding that personal enjoyment is apparently okay, I still ask why you think this petition is good, since it would put a stop to your colour collecting. Unless you really do plan on earning 20 million what, more than a dozen times?

Hmm, just answered your own question. Was it really that hard? Or just hard to come out and say to where the public could read it?

Heh. I did answer it, but you're mis-reading if you think it's in line with your personal opinion on the matter. Duplicating has an easy fix. PD didn't do it. Just like they didn't disallow the Veyron in a race populated by 250hp cars. If they think one's okay...

The syntax here is hurting my head. Again, repeatedly making broad generalizations, and repeating them as often as you desire, doesn't make them any more accurate.

That is correct and the fact remains you should practice what you preach and stay on subject to the thread. This thread is about those who don't like the " oversite by PD ". Not you exploiters who don't want to see a change in your exploiting ways. Where even credits don't mean anything anymore.

The exploit is tied directly to gifting. Therefore, it's the topic. Banning gifting would knock GT back from a community-interaction standpoint. And there are already competitors that offer pretty robust online community environments. Are there people who abuse the system? Yep. But you'll get a small percentage of that with any game. And even given GTP's size, we represent just a tiny fraction of total GT players.

by the way, 4 endurances left in B-Spec is a long long time away from 40. Like 10 24hr races if I'm reading what you are saying here..... 35 is not close to 36, 37 is way away, then 38, 39,40. It's like 13 24hr races and one 9 hr races and one 4hr race is what I did to get there just from level 35 to 40.

You seem fixated more on the leveling system than any inherent "skill" in the game. It's a long amount of time away from 40, yes, but it's not a lot of events left. And pressing a few buttons to send my B-Spec team around the track is "playing a video game" at the most basic level. I do it for the prizes, that's it.

You are not a level 40 player so just go be what ever it is you can. Because again, you have not rated it to even think you can relate. Now go fix that.

Neither are you. Your computer drones are, though 👍
Again, it seems like your primary criteria for the game is how much time someone has put into it, not whether they're actually good or not.

I lol'd...as I think you are serious. ( it's "then" to btw )

It's too by the way. And there's the text-speak...

Congrats on all "you've" accomplishment because it doesn't sound like "you've" actually done much of anything on your own.

This, this is delicious irony.

How could you even feel that effort when you haven't given any. Going back to playing now.

*Presses button to start race*
*Comes back hours later to completed race*

Effort? B-Spec is just a much longer dragged-out version of the exploit. That we are now forced to use B-Spec for half the game, when it was optional in GT4, is a step back, to me (though that's another matter for another thread). In addition, since every car is purchasable in the game (bar the carbon X1 and the GT Academy 370Z), there is no "skill" in acquiring any of them in this game. Just time.

/flamesuit on

I'm not sure if I posted it in this thread, but I brought that up in the chat the other day :).

It'd be simple enough to implement: all cars in my game would have a, say, SLIPZTREM_000001 ID, going up for each car that makes it in my garage. Then just program the game to not allow cars with matching ID's to both be in the garage.

The catch is this wouldn't stop duplicating at all, at least in the way people keep complaining (others getting your duplicated cars). Because SLIP_000001 could be sitting in hundreds of garages, but as long as I only have one copy in mine, it wouldn't trip any coding to prevent that. It would mean I couldn't make multiple copies of an expensive car for my own personal use (different states of tune, different looks, etc).

The only way I can reasonably see duplicating fully being eradicated is to not let the user have access to their own save data. It would have to be server-side for anybody who's playing online. Which is a colossally bad idea for a bunch of reasons.

Edit:
I shouldn't have posted this.

How about no?

We don't need a gifting system to nerf a car, then someone has to pay to get it to its full performance. Then it isn't a GIFT anymore. GIFT implies FREE, in case you didn't know.

We don't need a highly restrictive auction system like that. It's also highly unrealistic. The person selling the car is supposed to decide the MINIMUM selling value of the car, not whatever whims the game throws out.

Same thing goes for selling cars. IRL someone can sell their car for WHATEVER price they want. If you want to sell cars in the game, then imposing your whims upon people isn't going to make ANYONE except you and the other twisted people happy.

Order Car function would essentially be cheating the system unless they charged you an extra 25% to 50% for ordering the car. That means to get the Formula GT when it's not in your UCD would cost between 6.25 and 7.5 million. Hows that sound? Now how does it feel when I impose MY whims on your already restrictive ideas?

I am sure there are well over a million people (while only a small percentage of them view this forum) that would absolutely HATE your restrictive ideas (except maybe the last one).

Before you attack the last statement, I have some info.
FYI, sure does NOT mean certain.

A free car is a free car, even if it's not as good as it once was. If someone gave you a real car in real life, but it happened to be 10 years old and needed an engine overhaul - would you complain? Since when did anyone give you or anyone you know a brand new car - free of charge? Worst case you'd likely still have had to pay insurance and road tax. How about an insurance / road tax fee instead of an engine overhaul? Just another idea...

On the "order" idea, I'd rather pay 6.5M CR and get a car now (when I have the credits) than have to keep running races in the hope I might one day see a car made available in the showroom that might never be - or might only become available after I've just spent the cash on a different car (then disappear again).

Seriously, what a clumsy and pointless attack. People like you - who are only interested in attacking ideas and being so overly critical shouldn't be allowed to post anywhere.

EDIT:
I shouldn't have added heat to the fire.

And people like you who decide that it should be good to impose your whims on the others that play a game shouldn't be allowed access to said game.

FYI, I have been given a car IRL that was NOT in need of any major repairs that still ran amazingly.
And a free car is not a free car when you essentially have to pay the game to use it like you should be able to.

It seems to me that you're the person trying to impose.

What am I imposing exactly? Nothing. What is Polyphony Digital likely to do with people's ideas? Read them possibly... Only if they're good might they perhaps implement any ideas.

You've made your point, but you could have made it more graciously and besides that your opinion is but one, just as mine is. There's no right nor wrong on matters like this.

It was an idea, just like this entire thread is a forum for comments and ideas. Get used to seeing ideas being made, that's what forums are all about. It wouldn't surprise me if you're just another person abusing the free gift feature and sees anything else (like having to pay - how is that a shock!?!) as abhorrent. As things stand - you've got things your way, but it's pitiful that you should try and clamp down so callously on people's ideas which may improve the game, even if nothing is done.

Yes, i could have been a little less of a _bag when i posted. I should have been as well.

Yes, my opinion is only an opinion.

While the ideas might be good, it would probably be good to have not posted them in such a heated thread ;)

I use the gifting feature to duplicate cars that people won't expect to drift. I give em to my friends and we go sliding around Tsukuba, Suzuka, and other courses with cars like the Subaru 360, Fiat 500, Daihatsu Midget, etc. I don't necessarily use this duplicating exploit to get fast cars, but fun cars. If that makes me less of a player, so be it. I just want to get as much fun out of this game that I can.

Now that I look back on it, I should probably edit those posts a tad :O

I guess I'll take the time to apologize for being an arse now.

(IMO, your suggestions are okay. I think there is a general suggestion thread that those could go into.)

@ SlipZtrEm:
what if the car gifted, logs `serial numbers` of each new user?
that way if its duped back to the original donor account it would be flagged ?

Cool. Apology accepted. Just remember that most / many / some (?) of us are normal, real and nice people enjoying GT5 immensely just for what it is. Not everyone who posts comments / ideas on the Internet always does so looking for a fight or a battle of wits.

As I believe I stated, I'm not against the idea of gifting to other PSN users, it's a good way to help brand new GT gamers to get started. Maybe there could be a limit on the number of completely free gifts between PSN users before a "gimping tax" is added - I don't know, just ideas...?

The only nagging point going on in my head is that I'm not overly fond of the idea of people exploiting the game to collect all 1031 cars (or at least the 1000 for the trophy). Not that this exploit is personally offensive - so I don't actually "care" - provided that friends / colleagues / associates / forum posters (on here) aren't trying to repeatedly shove the fact down my optic nerves in an attempt to blind me with their so-called brilliance. The problem isn't so much with the exploit, it's with the people who make a big deal about the rewards offered by the game. A lot is made of it and with stuff like GT Academy going on, I guess it's no surprise...

Perhaps this "petition" should be to GT players and for GTPlanet players to sign up & honourably agree that they won't exploit / abuse the game if they're in any way meaning to be competitive with other players about trophies or whatever. People can just as easily make a big deal of the fact that hitting certain barriers a certain way yields a time penalty, but other collisions don't (or some other "exploit")... I'd consider it to be more "fair" if the time penalty was tallied up and added on to the final race time with race results being based on final time over track position, but I'm not sure it's actually "a good idea".

Life's not perfectly balanced. It doesn't have to be. Games are not perfectly balanced. They don't have to be.
That's life and that's video games. I enjoy both.

The way you say you use the scam just sounds like you've found another way for you and your friends to have more fun with the game. Who am I to knock it? It's good that you're enjoying the game...

Thanks.

Someone else using the exploit to buy cars without losing money isnt taking away from your achievement of collecting all of the cars, Pokémon style. Its only the rampant distribution of these cars that devalue them.

Personally I feel the exploit isn't hurting the game or the community at all, it just a means to an end, negating the need to the repeating of the cash-cow events like the Indy 5 lap race.

Id also recommend you remove your suggestion that Mr NOS should copulate with himself or you might feel a reprisal from the powers that be.
