Oh and those 2 names you gave us don't work in the search. Or are they not meant to?

Banned users never show in the site's member search feature.

Anyways, out of curiosity:
- Who get's to appoint users as mods? Admins or the Super Admin?
- How are you informed that you've been promoted to mod status?

Jordan makes the final call (as you would expect), but usually it's also brought up in a discussion amongst the rest of us too, to get more opinions. I received my welcome to the team PM from Duke, though there were already some sweet donuts and a Welcome banner in the Mod Lounge when the rest of that SM batch and I got there :sly:

Like I said, my first PM welcoming me to the team was from Duke, though I had already discussed it with Jordan prior.

1 question though. Were all mods premium before modship?

I think I might've been the only one who wasn't (was unemployed that year). But that doesn't mean I can't have a Premium giveaway contest in the works...

What about the normal mods that moderate the Online events sections? I don't remember Hydro being premo before. In fact the only one that I remember being premium before they were appointed Mod status is Speedy.

I've said this in the past - the staff doesn't enjoy banning people...

I remember someone getting banned because their user title said "Bann3d" or someway to pass the filter. :scared:
;)

:D

Also, you can't beat banning someone on your birthday, or on Christmas day. :dopey:

It seems that daan is the only moderator/admin that likes banning people  .
:D

Santa: Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas MSTER232. I have a present for you.
Me: Oh boy! I wanna open it!
*Santa gives me the present*
Santa: Here, you can open it. But open it with care... :sly: .
*MSTER232 opens the present and sees a 5 day ban*
MSTER232: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

(daan was Santa)

Thats what I meant. Couldn't find the posts.

If the posts are really offensive then the moderators have the power to remove that post from the thread, or even the whole thread itself.

^ They were both mods. Do you really think every single post would have been removed. Its not like Jordan originally set this up as a porn site and then changed it.

Jordan never had porn in mind when setting up this site so I don't understand the relevance here... :guilty: .

I never said that did I.

I mean that the guy who I am looking for was a mod so not all their posts are going to be offensive.

I have a question about the log. When somebody gets banned, does the person automatically get put on the list (if they do), or is it done manually? I'm just curious, I'm not trying to learn ALL of the mods' secrets. The log says about a log being "generated", and that may imply some kind of autolog. I'm just curious about how it works.

I believe that it is manual, as not all people who get banned are put in there.

It's done manually. That's why not everyone gets on the list because the Mods and Admins are too busy.

Or they cannot be bothered adding the same person under a different account name that has been previously banned before.

Or this. Also they don't put automated spambots on there or people that haven't got many posts.

Oh, thanks. I knew about everything else, I was just wondering whether it was done automatically or manually.

You can also see exactly who wrote the last entry into the BUL. The last entry was "generated" by Famine.

Thats Demigod Famine to you. He might as well be he knows so much. (Except I can out smart him on ww2 aircraft :p)

Purely out of interest, can moderators and admins recieve warnings like us folk or are they exempt from it?
Yes, but only from upstream. A Super Mod isn't able to warn/infract a fellow Super Mod, Admin or Super Admin (That would be like firing your boss. Not getting him fired, doing the actual firing yourself) but can warn/infract a Moderator, etc.
You probably must know Jordan to be one ...
Incorrect. Everyone "knows" Jordan (as much as one can know someone on an internet forum) but that's irrelevant as it's Jordan who needs to know you. My invite came completely out of the blue.
I see few members that get banned and dont pop up in the banned user thread.
Sometimes they just don't want too...
Nor are we obligated to...

As SlipZ already stated, Jordan makes the final call but in the past has asked for suggestions from the staff as to who they think would fit in well.

And yes, who suggested me is one of the first things I hunted down in the Mod section after being sworn in.
Oh, thanks. I knew about everything else
Not everything, you don't. ;)

I meant I know everything else I can know, could know and want to know without snooping into the mod files. I am not planning to try and know every single secret of the mods, that would just equal instant ban, and I doubt I'll ever be a mod anyways. I'll just find out whatever the random way: coming across it.

Gravitron, Hydro and I were all premium before becoming mods as well as Speedy. Not sure about MadMax though.

Not always. Mods have the ability to do "stealth" edits, so the green "Last edited by..." doesn't appear. At least not to us mortals.

No we can't. We used to be able to, but that "feature" was removed a long time ago. The only way a post can be edited with no green text is if it is edited a few minutes after posting, and that applies to both mods and members.
