No we can't. We used to be able to, but that "feature" was removed a long time ago. The only way a post can be edited with no green text is if it is edited a few minutes after posting, and that applies to both mods and members.

Ahh, okay, thanks for the clarification then!

If you are wondering why a banned member isn't included in the B.U.L, searching the questioned member's posts will clarify things. Mods and admins do not ban people without reason; this isn't a forum lead by pre-teens.

And yes, who suggested me is one of the first things I hunted down in the Mod section after being sworn in.
Just curious, who vouched for you? Or is that top secret, kill-me-if-you-told-me stuff?

I used to do a lot of the write-ups for the BUL, even for members that I didn't personally ban. Mostly because I found it was a chance to inject a little humour into my job. Giving up my modly powers meant that I also gave up the ability to edit the thread (not that I mind), so the number of write-ups has decreased. The number of bannings has also decreased, but that was because I was invited to become a moderator when GT5 was released and the forums went bananas. Once things quietened down, I left the moderating team.

I've read the banned user log and some reasons for banning are funny, like the whole Sakiale incident and the multiple accounts.

Duke
Sakiale - 8th November 2007 - Ran out of chances. Spam, obscenities, spam, abuse, spam, multiple registration, spam, spam, spam, spam, eggs, chips, spam and spam.

papoose - 10th November 2007 - Sakiale again.

SuddenDeath - 13th November 2007 - Sakiale again.

Rocket Punch - 26th November 2007 - 2 day ban for IBTL-style post.

AKJK/FCUK - 30th November 2007 - Sakiale. Again. Twice.

-emo-/evil! - 6th December 2007 - As above. Perhaps there's a message not getting through.

ZondaCCX - 15th December 2007 - Guess who?

IMissGTP - 26th December 2007 - Merry Christmas, Sakiale.

Icanhazaccount? - 30 January 2008 - No.

AK47brrapp - 01 February 2008 - banned before he even finished registering

BlackBeadyEyes - 06 February 2008 - Previously banned member and general asshattery

FastCars - 05 March 2008 - As above

Not sure if some up there are sakiale though... nevertheless, pretty comical. Don't get me wrong, i do learn from people's mistakes...

^It is a small joke so that BUL won't be a boring place. ;)

FYI: Rocket Punch is unrelated to Sakiale. He got banned for IBTL during the 'war against Sakiale'. ;)

Just out of interest, does a In Before The Lock ban get issued for someone posting a rude comment just before a thread gets locked?

No, it's specifically for posting the words "In Before The Lock" or anything else that boils down to the same thing, in a thread that's obviously going to be locked as soon as a moderator comes by. Some boards will have a whole slew of IBTL posts by the time a thread gets locked; GTP is not one of them.

I want to know why jth got banned :D

I'd like to know why 'noisaturismo' got banned, but unfortunately in these cases we may never know. :(

What does an infraction do? Restrict your account?

It's line when you get points I think. It says about it in AUP, for some reason I read it before making this account. Good reading :)

Sort of like a yellow card, you get them with varying points, reach 30 points and you're out the door.

Interesting question. I wonder if it's been asked before and, if so, how frequently...

:D

I have a question, Famine.

If someone double and triple posts constantly, do moderators usually give an infraction? I was wondering because I don't think that double posting being not allowed is in the AUP. Just wondering :)

There's really no such thing as "usually". It's case by case - and while double-posting isn't mentioned in the AUP specifically, it does get its own section in the FAQ.

Mr Bean
Off-topic, is 9 line signature a benefit of gtpremium?
No. GTPremium changes nothing for your signature.

I've always wondered: who/what was PublicSecrecy? Was it a banned member who kept making new accounts or something else?

I found out when my first GameFAQs account was banned and saw what for again a while back.

2 weeks and 2 days after I joined GTP. Everyone on the GameFAQs boards called GTP too strict about everything. I lost 3 more accounts to the GameFAQs mod staff after that as well.

Meanwhile at the site that's "too strict"... 0 infractions, 0 forum software warnings (do we use them? I've gotten a few PM'd warnings but nothing on-system like I've been hit with on other boards using the same system) over the last 5 years and some change.

is it wrong that I find reading the Banned User Log entertaining? :scared::scared:

Not at all. Many of the entries were deliberately written to be entertaining, particularly in the months after GT5's initial release when things got hectic. Humour, however savage it might be, was one of the few outlets for venting frustrations at some of the more difficult users who registered as if was very difficult to use humour when actually enforcing the rules lest it be taken the wrong way.

At least, that's how I always looked at it.

Whats the funniest post you've had to
Give an infraction for?
None of them were ever amusing. Although I do find it funny that you've been banned since asking that question.
