I still stick by my opinon. I don't see why Ambrose was turning in, the apex was quite a bit further through and he obviously wasn't far enough up for the defensive driving. I just see it as he turned in to block, yet there was no room for it.

I really didn't like his attitude about it either. He's a tosser. Good riddance.

I think you're missing my point.

If Murphy had done what you're accusing Ambrose of doing, would you be as harsh on him?

I thought it was nice when Ambrose said he felt bad for the crew.

Just saw the incar footage of loinouwnde's (Lowndes :p) car when the tyre hit, wow that was a big hit, scary!

I'm not the guy you're arguing with.

And yes, I would be as harsh on Murphy. I don't like Ambrose but if someone is in the wrong, there's no use defending them.

I saw the incar footage from Lowndes too. I would have crapped my pants. I wonder if he changed his undies while the team kicked his windows out.

Yvan was complaining about how cold it was in that car and he spends most of his time in Britain and has raced in ice races in the off season. I kept thinking about Mike Raymonds 1985 Bathurst commentary when Peter Brock's car had the front and rear windows kicked out. "No front windscreen, no rear windscreen, air conditioned mountain racing".

LOWNDES INCAR.... omg....**** that!! lucky fella to be alive.. thanks to the larry bar lol. I thought that was a good cheep shot by L.P when they interviewed him.

Ok, that's fine.

There's just one thing I would like you to do. Please, humour me.

Imagine the position of the cars reversed. That is, Ambrose is on the inside with Murph trying to pass on the outside. The cars touch and Murphy gets spun into the wall heavily.

Can you tell me honestly that your opinion of who was at fault would change?
I can honestly tell you that my view would change. It would be a bitter pill to swallow, but I still would swallow it.

LINK ME TO THE IN-CAR OF TEH WHEEL ON LOWNDESY'S CAR, PLEASE

Fair enough.

I disagree with you, but I won't carry this discussion on any more. I'm sure the incident will be dissected in the media over the next few months.

And Lowndes is a VERY lucky boy! That could have been a disaster.

How long before wheel tethers are mandatory in V8s? ;) :)

PHAT! You have the link. You're the best.

The other question to be asked is (Besides VTR's one) Can the badly damaged cars be repaired in time for The Gold Coast - Lexmark Indy 500??? (If that is what it's still called)

What was really wrong with Murphs car??? It looked in pretty good nic, when I saw it parked up. I know he said that there was a bent steering arm. What else???

The Indy 500? That would be tough.
I don't think they will have any problem getting the cars repaired. The car that seems to be the most damaged was Ambrose's car but obviously the teams won't know the full extent of the damage until they get the cars back to the workshop. A car may look like it has minor damage but it can be worse than it looks. Courtney's car for example apparently has a bent chassis rail and it looked as though they may have only needed to replace the front suspension and steering arms.
SBR have an almost completed car in their workshop that was going to debut next year but it could be ready if they needed it. Being a Queensland team they have a big advantage with getting their car repaired anyway as they don't have to get it packed on a truck two days or so before the start of the event like a Victorian based team would have to.

I just went by what the Champ Car part is. I dunno what they call it for the V8's

Oh I know that despite being good strong cars, parts of them are weaker, but teams have been lucky to get away with a massive shunt with only minimal damage. Mostly cosmetic. I didn't see any cosmetic damage to Murphs car. Well not a lot.

I would've said that Ritters car would've been the worst, but no, he kept going

Location does help a lot.

It's the Indy 300 for Champ Cars isn't it?
I suppose it would depend on how badly a steering arm is bent. Lowndes said he bent his steering arm when he broke his rear end in the opening laps and I don't think they gave it any attention. Other cars have trouble driving in a straight line with bent steering and how many cars have we seen slide into the grass at the pit entry trying to get a car with damaged steering back to the pits. Murphy did seem to get squashed between Ambrose and the wall pretty hard. I just checked the V8 Supercar website and the Super Cheap Auto Racing website and they haven't put a press release or race report on either website yet.

Yeah, the Lexmark Indy 300. The Indy 500 is the classic race around the Indianapolis Oval.

Hi people. I'm new to this site. Sorry if a similar thread has been created but just seeing whether any of you have copies of Bathurst races? I am particularly interested in the 1992 race. Any info would be very much appreciated :)
