GTP F1 Season 5: The Moments
Picture it as a clip show.
Bahrain
"It all starts here, we've got a whole season ahead of us and there's only one way to find out who will be on top at the end...the lights are off and Season 5 is GO!!!! Except for that BMW, looks like Whitcomb's been taken out already..."
"Drivers off at turn 5, looks like Shepherd the new driver for Aguri, has gotten into an incident with Beyens of Renault. They were running 2nd and 3rd at the time and now, not quite so...we're getting in radio transmissions from the Aguri crew, and it's rather nasty...this could be the begininng of a long feud."
"Well, this may only be the first race but I don't think that will dissapoint the Ferrari crew any as Lee Davidson takes the first race of Season 5 at Bahrain!"
---
Sepang
"Well, this certainly isn't good for our championship leader Davidson, he's reporting some oil pressure issues and is falling like a rock through the field...seems to be resolved now but he has his work cut out for him. He can't goof around like this just because he's leading the championship..."
"The leader is off! Domingues has pulled off the racing line, it appears he has a mechanical problem, Renault's not telling us what but this looks to be the end for the man who finished 2nd last week..."
"I don't believe it and I don't think Red Bull does either. But their crew certainly must feel those wings kicking in, Ashley Butler pulls off a brilliant win at Sepang!"
---
Melbourne
"Here comes Chang into the pits now for a scheduled stop. He's been running well and he'll need a good stop to...he's just stalled the car! The crew's trying to get it going, this will certainly cost him a bit of time and here comes his teammate Hutchinson down pit lane!! What is going on at the McLaren pits? Sheer madness!"
"Ferrari is certainly in form this season, Davidson took the opener and now it's going to be Jarrett Allman winning at Melbourne! And would you look at that, there's an Aguri on podium..."
---
Imola
"It's quite surprising to see a Honda in the lead honestly, they've been medicore this season and now they're -- off the track! Horton has pulled into the pits from the lead, radio suggests an electronic problem and it's back to the garage with him. How dissapointing..."
"Look out, Beyens is flying across the track but in entirely the wrong direction...looks like he's had an accident and will have to retire...this definitely is not shaping up to be Renault's season."
"The Ferrari fans are going home happy tonight - Davidson gets his second win of the season!"
---
Nurburgring
"Certainly that's got to be a confidence boost, Midland's Kawasie has been struggling all season and now he's jumped out to a 2 second lead on the first lap."
"...and look out there we've got a Toyota in pieces all over the course...it's Mason! And he's not happy. Federal regulations prevent us from telling you exactly how not happy he is but I'm sure that gives you a picture..."
"And there's a Renault in the wall again! It's Domingues...and that's going to end his day it seems. He has been strong so far this season but just doesn't seem able to overcome his reliablity problems..."
"Certainly we know who the king of the ring is today, Davidson takes his SECOND win in a row!!"
---
Barcelona
"Domingues is looking to have a tough time starting from the back in 17th today, right now he's up to 16th but...make that 14th, no 12th...actually, make that 9th. 8 places on the first lap, good show"
"And there's a collision in the front! Ferrari's involved! It's Davidson and Weiland, and it looks like the Aguri's limping back to the pits, but Davidson's day is over. That could hurt his momentum in the championship...but I can't say the Aguri crew is any more pleased with the situation."
"Look at this unlikely pair - a Honda and a Renault up front battling for the lead! Domingues has just gotten past Horton with 4 to go and certainly this looks like an exciting battle...wait no he's just ran away. Domingues wins at Barcelona!"
---
Monaco
"And the lights are off and the race is on and there's a Toyota in the wall already! It's Mason and certainly it's been an annoyingly brief race for him."
"Davidson is in the wall! At a track like this if you mess up like that there's not much that can save you. Two DNFs in a row, this is not a good sign for Ferrari..."
"That's something we haven't seen in a while - LeSabre of Midland just blew a tire and the team is calling him in to pit. Wonder if they noticed that this is his teammate's inlap?"
"Beyens said before the race that he loved Monaco and would like even more to win at his favorite track - he'll be on top of the world tonight as Beyens wins at Monaco!"
---
Silverstone
"And that's another brilliant stop by the Super Aguri crew, 24 seconds, I do believe Weiland got out and did that herself, correct? I know she wasn't happy with the crew's performance."
"Happy homecoming it is not; McLaren and Ferrari are having dismal races with their hometown heroes, and Davidson can't afford to let too many more get away..."
"He may not be at home in Britain but Domingues sure seems at home on the track as he makes it 3 wins in a row for Renault!"
---
Montreal
"The lights are off...and so is Domingues's Renault! He's stalled and dropped down the field...meanwhile Mason's Toyota is passing the field at an amazing rate, it's simply astounding! Wait, scratch that, a Ferrari's driven into him. It was a good 40 seconds."
"Davidson needed a win to get back into this championship, and Montreal has given him just that - Davidson wins at Montreal!"
---
Indianapolis
"The first lap of Indy has always been crazy and this is no exception - there appears to be another Toyota out, it appears to be Mason, and meanwhile Beyens has gotten taken out by someone, the only word we can really print on it is 'Aguri', which gives you a clue of the culprit."
"Hmm, there's an Aguri slow...it's Shepherd. Electronic issues. The team's calling him in. No, on second glance, it does not appear to be a mechanical problem but rather that he's insulted the country and the men in black suits are going to take care of him. Hopefully we'll see him at Magny Cours"
"Yellow flag...can't quite see why but...oh, a Ferrari's wrecked. It's Davidson. He can't win the championship if he keeps taking himself out between wins."
"Well, with the Ferrari out of the picture Domingues sees fit to add 10 points to his lead, and he'll do just that, Domingues wins at Indy!"
---
Magny Cours
"Chang has wrecked at turn 8, the report is in and we can confirm that, and with Hutchinson out on lap 1 it's been a nice 8-lap test session for McLaren. Hopefully they will last longer next week."
"Wow, rain, I do believe that's a first all season. Surprised it hasn't shown up more often to mess with everyone's setup, I know Honda's been hiring some rain dancers for some odd reason."
"Domingues gets his 2nd victory in a row at Magny Cours! Certainly the Ferrari team has begun sweating by now."
---
Hockenheim
"Earth to Renault? The race has started. Please notify your drivers, I don't believe they've noticed."
"Look out there's a big crash near the front! Looks like there are 4 cars involved, Shepherd and Hutchinson are climbing out rather angrily, and Allman and Domingues are opening up a donut shop on the grass...the Safety Car is out."
"He's done it before, Domingues did it again with a late-race pass, coming from the back of the field, nothing is stopping this Renault driver from pulling his THIRD win in a row out of the hat!"
---
Hungaroring
"Chink in the armor for Renault! Domingues has reported steering failure and...uh...I do believe that's true as he's gone straight off the track into the barrier...that will end his race. Now is your time to capitalize, Ferrari!"
"I'm surprised at Horton and Kawasie. Both are having impressive races, running podium positions despite subpar cars. Wait, scratch that, they've driven into each other, and rather hard. Well, they've recreated that 6-wheeler F1. Here comes the Safety Car."
"The carnage continues! Chang's gone for a whirl and tricycleized his car, looks like he was involved in an incident with another vehicle, it certainly will be dissapointing having to retire from P3 with 5 to go."
"Perhaps the pieces are finally falling into place for Ferrari, Davidson wins at Hungaroring and more importantly, picks up 10 points on Domingues"
---
Istanbul
"Well, if that isn't a recurring theme I don't know what is. All I know is that Aguri and Renault are practically throwing themselves at each other and that Weiland has suffered her first DNF as a result."
"I don't believe it!! First and second place have just retired! Domingues's gearbox has snapped and Shepherd wiped the side off his car (and the smile off his face). Are you hungry, Davidson? Because you've just been served the race on a silver platter. But wait, there's more! Allman's just gone off into the wall. Maybe this is one race you DON'T want to be up front in."
"Is the momentum of the championship turning yet again? Davidson won last race and has just made it 2 in a row, slicing no less than 20 points off Domingues's lead!"
---
Monza
"Davidson is slow on the track! The Ferrari has pulled over! It's hard to tell exactly what's wrong from the camera shot we have but it looks like suspension issues...and the Ferrari's heading to the garage. This is likely to be game over for the championship."
"And just when everything was going Ferrari, Renault has come back by storm. Domingues wins at Monza and is just short of putting the championship out of reach!"
---
Shanghai
"Davidson has just been involved in an accident! He and Chang have collided and the McLaren driver is already out of his cockpit...there does not appear to be any damage to the Ferrari but with 3 races and a 24 point gap left Davidson can not afford any mistakes at all."
"Toyota reliability strikes again...2 laps in and Mason has already retired due to fuel pump issues from a points position."
"That red and white paint scheme must be doing something for Aguri, Kawasie has joined an ever-growing club of drivers who have taken an Aguri out..."
"Beyens wins at Shanghai! Davidson takes second in a close finish but all he can do is watch as Domingues comes across the line 3rd and CLINCHES the Season 5 championship!!"
---
Suzuka
"Even though the championship is already in the bag, thankfully Davidson and Domingues are still putting on a show, only 0.082 of a second divided them going into the last lap...Davidson showed strength earlier when he passed Hutchinson around 130R, but can he pull off the win here? Domingues sees no reason to let him past and...Domingues will take another win in an exciting finish at Suzuka!"
---
Interlagos
"Certainly Renault must be having fun with us now...they've reported about 5 problems with Domingues's car by now but he still seems to be running away from the field..."
"Davidson can try to take the spotlight with second place on the last lap and the fastest lap, but this race, and unquestionably the season, goes to Domingues and Renault!! That's definitely a very symbolic finish, Domingues 1st and Davidson 2nd. So close, and yet so far. Well, it's been an interesting and exciting season and certainly with some team shuffling next year it will only get more so...this is Anonymous Announcer signing off for the last time this year, we'll see you all in Season 6!"
(wow, over 2000 words, this certainly makes my upcoming chem essay of equal length seem a lot easier
