Theres no real point in using the SOFLAM as it only really helps if someone in your squad has a Javelin or Laser Designated Rockets otherwise you're only getting points for designating and spotting. And try the UMP on a TDM, seems like you'll get a fair but of points with that setup đź‘Ť

SOFLAM is just something on the way to the MAV đź‘Ť

Although as I don't really enjoy running Recon, I think I'll just stick to Medic and Engi from now on.

Same here... I can never get in the right mindset to play recon and be an asset to the team... I also really suck at sniping... Much better to put me on the frontline with an automatic weapon so I can revive, give ammo or health, while I get my kills :) I think I only have just over 1,000 pts on my recon class and im at level 41 now. :lol: Use the other kits equally depending on where I can get the most points (ribbons, medals and service stars) at any moment in time.

Average gameplay today due to lots of switchers.

SOFLAM is maybe two rounds away still as I only played for an hour or so. 870C with buckshot is pretty sweet though.

I used the 870C for the first time yesterday at Nosehair Canals. Went 17-3. Oh and using the RPG last night at Seine to blow up the buildings overlooking the various streets and objectives. FUN!

Also at one of the checkpoints at one of the maps (the one that has Hilltop on it) I was at A and two of their guys on a buggy came and started taking A, I was the only one around. So I pulled out some C4 threw two lots of it on them, on the second lot I saw the driver get out, so I knew I'd been caught. Pulled the trigger and killed us all.

Has anyone got the Squad Wipe ribbons?

Also, Dogtags, I can't select my 2nd one even though I have a few in there to choose from, is this something I unlock the ability to use?

My first one was hilarious. I was defending Noshahr Rush when I got killed. So I ran back to the first set of MComms from spawn, down past the building near the building where the second 'A' mcomm is when it's active and saw a guy using the corrogated fence for cover. So sneak up behind him, headshot him and get the squad wipe ribbon - one man bandit!

Similar thing yesterday playing CQ though, ran towards B and saw a squad spawn on it as I rounded the fence. I thought 'uh uh, you just bought it laddie' so tossed a grenade and sprayed em. I got killed but my grenade got all four of em :D.
 
A few days ago i was playing in hardcore conquest @ devand peak i managed at the beginning of the round to watch the enemy get out of his tank on fire i shot him started to fix the tank when i got it fixed i went crazy Lmao at the end of the round my score was 32k 0d my best killstreak so far lol then the next round was at karg island they must have been mad because i had a helicopter shooting at me a plane i think had C4 on it tried to hit me a buggy with C4 tried to get me lol while they were doing that at the end of that round i got the MVP again..... I love me some tanks lol

1. Ive gotten squad swipe ribbons before, but they're very rare for me :) I got my first one on a hectic Metro conquest match fighting for flag B with the m320 on my M416 :) Whole squad spawned in on the guy I was aiming at, the moment I shot off the grenade they all appeared in a group and then they were all gone again...

2. You should be able to change it as far as I know... Although on Battlelog it will show dogtags youve taken from others as if theyre unlocked while you havent actually unlocked them yet. Theres a small padlock icon in the corner which shows if its really been unlocked or not.
 
Ah, I see it now on Battlelog. Will have to squint to see if I can see it in game. I have a couple I've unlocked, so will try them out.
 
Being an aggressive recon on some smaller maps (3rd set of mcoms or conquest operation metro is the best example) can be very enjoyable. The key is not to use sniper rifles. Take PP19, AS VAL or PDW-R or USAS (if you're really evil) for close quarters gunfights (with high rate of fire you should succeed more often than not) , t-ugs (remember that ugs/mav works in 2 dimensions, vertical and horizontal so you can place it beneath or above the level where enemy is and it will be very helpful for your team in finding targets) and spawn beacon (just remember to place it in strategic place; ie not in your base or in the middle of the corridor where everyone can see it).

Just watch how the points/ribbons/badges will come your way. And they will, trust me. :)
 
Constantly reminded why I give up on this game. Just because a few people work together on the opposite team means they can overpower an entire team.

One whole squad sits on the right side of the map, and no one flanks. They just sit in the right side of the base sniping. I can't believe how bad this game has really turned out

Chef, the dogtags have to be lit up white to be selectable.
Some of them show up, but they're actually greyed out.
You pinched these off of someone's neck while you were playing, but you haven't actually earned the rank/title/weapon yet, so they aren't something you can wear right now.

Pretty sure it's meters. 300 feet is nothing.... Length of a football field.

My best is around 650 meters. Operation Firestorm. I shot a guy on top of the mountains from one heck of a long ways away.

I thought I was doing well with 526m!

That is one heck of a distance......

At 526m, all I could see were 3 pixels!

I was up the iron tower on Kharg, and some noob was down at the base near the AA.
I started firing at him, and he crouched behind a small concrete wall there, he didn't move just long enough for me to gauge the distance and headshot him.

Could have sworn the SKS was provided too - I have it unlocked but I don't remember ever having unlocked it :dopey:

DICE’s Alan Kertz took to Reddit the other day to share his thoughts on the current Battlefield 3 weapon accessories and what he feels needs to be tweaked.He asked for community feedback on specific accessories such as the suppressor, heavy barrel, foregrip, etc. Here are some of his thoughts:

Foregrip: plans on adjusting the foregrip on a per-weapon basis, adding 34% reduction in horizontal recoil, based on the gun, and -20% “penalty to base accuracy when aimed”.

Bipod: a buff for the bipod is likely, since it has to be set up in order to receive the benefits (less recoil, less bullet spread)

Suppressor: added -50% “penalty to base accuracy from the hip”, +25% bonus to base accuracy when aimed and +10% reduced vertical recoil. Overall, Kertz points out that the suppressor will receive a minor nerf.

Heavy Barrel: increased max range (damage stays the same), +50% bonus to base accuracy when aimed, -25% penalty to base accuracy from the hip. Overall, the heavy barrel will have less recoil than currently.

Flash suppressor: Kertz points out that the flash suppressor is “underwhelming” and as a result, it’ll will receive +20% reduced vertical recoil, while getting a -20% penalty to base accuracy from the hip.

Same here. I have around 100,000 Points on it while all my others are around the 50,000 range. I enjoy the L96 as well. Three days of using it and at 247 kills. I got 37 Headshots in one round as well!

628.25 meters, I just checked. It was incredibly lucky I'll admit. I could see the rounds coming from up the mountain and I spotted him so I had the triangle for reference and then it was trial and error of adjusting how high to aim.

I'm done all the co-op on easy now and unlocked all the guns. Other than the last support and recon gun I've unlocked all of them in the game.

I unlocked the last Back to Karkand gun too, the MKA1 (?) the shotgun one. My god is it unbelievable. It's fully automatic and is often one shot kill. It kills usually in 2 shots at range as well, much better than the USAS in my opinion and I don't have any attachments besides a scope so far.
 
396 for me. I got a bunch of 300+ in one game of rush-defense on op firestorm. Those guys on the hill didn't know what hit 'em.
 
600+ for me. I was on the foothills in front of the Russian Base (firestorm BTW) and the other guy was at the top of the foothills of the US Base :D
 
Made good use of half a sick day today from work :D.

It was newcomer season galore, even better as they were mostly on the other team. Really digging the A-91 with suppressor. Its like a smaller FAMAS; even got a 41m single-shot headshot with it!

Christmas came early at Noshahr. None of them had thermal optics to pick up mines, so I went to town on that and basically removed armour from the equation as they couldnt get out of deployment. The best was some guy who captured B....and then set up his mortar 5metres from the flag! I was like "this has to be a trap". But it wasn't. :D

I don't think so since the maps are made to be smaller. i.e. The set of hills behind the RU Spawn in Firestorm CQ would be part of the battlefield, while on consoles its not.

You can check on his Battlelog profile. Stats are listed at the bottom including longest headshot.
