Why do people snipe at Caspian? Playing there with Dzidza and Blitz earlier, Blitz and myself in the chopper, doing okay (I got tonnes of driver assists, how many did you get Blitz, I only had a couple of kills) took out their chopper with some unguided missiles and then we go about Hilltop, anyway they get their chopper back and I see it on the radar, but couldn't get eyes on it, and it heads away, so I stay around hilltop, then it comes back and kills us. Yet we had about 4-5 guys around Hilltop, 3 of em snipers.

Seriously, you're going to snipe when they've got 2 tanks, a chopper, a couple of jets and they'll have maybe 3 guys on the ground, who will often move about by jeep? RAR!

Anyway, had an awesome game at Damavand after Dzidza left, 25-5, their best player with 3000 points went 0-8...surprising after we got our butts handed to us at Firestorm (hit and miss map for me, don't know why).

We had some good matches last night... Most matches lost, but they were atleast hard fought ones.. :) When we were in the chopper on Caspian I was 11-0 when we got shot down. I was hitting things for once last night. Been a while since Ive been accurate with shooting, was in a bit of a slump in the past weeks...

To avoid confusion between Blitz187 and myself, you can refer to me by PSN tag; Ice. While catching up on the day's posts I laughed when I read the name and of course mistook who the person was talking about.

 We've had some confusion in the past as well..

There's a name for them.... Recon

Recon who are afraid to use a pistol.

I have been playing as Recon with the M40A5 as my primary and the M1911 as my secondary. The M1911 ends up with more kills than the M40A5 because I am constantly using it when I get close to an objective. I pretty much only use the M40A5 to pick enemy targets off from a distance as I approach an objective; the hope is I am able to lighten up the defenses enough that I am not at a huge disadvantage only using a pistol for close quarters.

Just had some really fun rounds with random guys. Everyone on both teams was pretty much playing the objectives. Wonders will never cease, unlike a couple of nights ago when about half my team thought it would be more fun to play around with c4 at our deployment.
Situations like that call for the jihad jeep to be deployed.

Anyway my only gripe from tonight was that none of my friends were online so I could test the mic I got today. Oh well thems the breaks, next time hopefully.

Cheers Shaun.

I've been doing recon since Bad Company 1. The best sniper in BF3 is the M98B, best power, best range, it may not be the quickest to reload but you have quick reflexes your in for a win. Good choice on the hand gun but personally I use the M9 or M93R, more ammo.

If your ever looking for a sniping partner, add me.

I have been slow to make progress with the Recon class and I am working my way to unlocking the M98B. I am definitely looking forward to using it, especially if the weapon is basically a more effective M40A5. Before unlocking the M40A5, I had yet to find a weapon that really clicked for me to use in the class.

The MP7 is a good submachine gun, but not being able to use both Extended Magazines and a Suppressor hurts the weapon's effectiveness in it's intended role (maybe I am too attached to using a Suppressor on anything that is not a LMG or Sniper Rifle). The P90 is similar to the MP7, but the P90 does not have the drawback of the Extended Magazines/Suppressor combination. The biggest issue with both the MP7/P90 are the inferiority compared to the Engineer's class carbines, which are direct competitors in close quarters.

I like the M39 EMR quite a bit, but I cannot stand the firing rate cap that DICE has put on the weapon. Compared the SKS, the M39's firing rate feels very sluggish, even though everything I find states both weapons can be fired at the same rate. When I first started using the M39 EMR, I envisioned a weapon similar to the FN FAL in Modern Warfare 2 or Black Ops; I really enjoyed using the FAL in both of those games and could be quite effective at time with the weapon. Instead, the M39 EMR fires a little too slow for my liking and I feel ineffective with the weapon. The SKS on the other hand feels somewhat similar to the FN FAL of MW2 and BO and I like using the weapon; the SKS close range effectiveness is less than the FAL, but that problem would probably be solved by switching to a pistol instead, something I have not really thought of doing until now.

I have thought of switching back to the G17C for my sidearm of choice, but I have been having some fun with the M1911 and have not had a huge reason to switch. Other than the limited ammunition capacity of the M1911 being an occasional issue, the additional stopping power of the .45 ACP in comparison to the 9mm handguns is very nice to have in one on one encounters.

Are you playing on PC?

Are you playing on PC?

No I'm on PS3.

For smaller maps I use the AS VAL, but you unlock it at level 45 :/ depending on how far you are from unlocking the M98B try playing TDM with the PDW-R. I was averaging 2000 3000 points a game so unlocked stuff in no time.

For the semi-auto sniper's I used the SKS, with grip, flash suppresser and PKA-S scope. Easily stood up to most assault rifles.

Other ways is arming as many M-com stations in rush as you can. Easy points, that's about it, just find out what works best for you.

Any PS3 guys got some suggestions for mics that aren't hideously priced? I'm talking £15-30 mark. Anyone have any experience with ones around that price?

I enjoy playing recon, but I suck at sniping. I've SS'ed every other class now and with recon, I usually just set up a T-UGS at a major choke point (run straight to B and put one near the escalators on Metro CQ, as RU) then whipping out the P90 and dealing some death.

SKS with no scope works well too.

Quick Question: Any PC players or only Console? If you play on PC, flip me a PM with your Origin ID and I'll add you up!

Pako
Nice, when I get back to my 'other' comp, I'll add you up....and hunt Omnis down also. :)

Sounds good. 👍

Unfortunately us PC players are a bit like ghosts in this thread.

I've had the official PS3 headset for about 3 years now. Works very well. I can have that in, hearing my squaddies and still hear my 5.1 system "behind" it.

Sorry I left so early Mike, of course my friend I'd been waiting on decided to sign on while we were playing. I'll play tomorrow of you would like to.

Ill be on in an about an hour for 2 or 3 hours. Might be a little rusty, its been a little over a week since I played.

Trying to teach myself how to use the jets effectively. Now that I have flares finally I can work in my shooting.

No probs 👍 I hooked up with Parkour for a while and we did ok.

Had a good round at Seine (did a handsome trade in the stairwell at C) and Damavand (claymores ), and then jumped in the MAV at Tehran to spot like a maniac.

Can someone explain to me why with the guided missile on the jets whenever I move my mouse, or probably in the PS3s case the joystick it moves the entire jet? How the hell am i supposed to aim at a target if all i'm doing is barrel rolls instead of moving the camera of the missle?

What's your PSN? I may dust the game off as in free tomorrow :)

Blackbird.

I think guided missiles are like the Javelin - you can fire them yourself or get someone with a SOFLAM to help you 👍

You just have to aim the jet towards the vehicle and then switch to it. I found this easier.

Guided missiles and TV missiles are not the same thing.

Which ones do you have?

I wasn't aware you could get TV's for jets.

But I have been wrong before.......

:irked:👍

I don't see anywhere on bf3stats or battlelog saying you can get tv for jets, it's only guided(which I'm 1500 points from getting

No, i'm not talking about the TV missile. The guided missile.

I just don't see how it makes sense that when you switch to a camera, which you do when you switch to guided missiles. That when you move the mouse/joystick around it moves the entire aircraft. I figure it would make more sense that there is a camera on the jet that helps lock on and then you fire. It's just awkward that the whole jet moves while you're trying to aim the missile.

I played so much today. I ranked the 870CS all the way to it's first service star. The M27 IAR I think is my new favorite gun.

I'm really sure that guided missiles are meant to be used with a SOFLAM. Guided missiles on tanks, choppers, jets and the Javelwin lock onto something almost instantly when it's designated with a SOFLAM.
