Sorry. :( Is the BF3 beta only going until October 10th?

That's correct. Then 2 weeks from that we are at launch which is perfect timing for me because I have 2 midterms on the 20th which gives me 10 days to study and then guilt free Battlefield 3 nights at release because finals aren't until December :)

Now what to do about my girlfriend? Hehe I'm kidding.

Anybody see the new single player screens IGN put up for ps3 yesterday? The game really does look great.

Did they say how long the single player should take?

People are already begining to dominate over the other team and operation metro is beginning to remind me more and more of mw2

But as long as there's no tac knifing or shotgun sidearms, I'm happy

So does anyone know how Marksman Bonus' work? Is it each point is 1 meter? If so I just got a 672 marksman bonus headshot. It was a sexy shot. :D

Nope, it's just a point score. The Metro map probably doesn't have a line-of-sight on it that is 600 metres long.

I was on caspian and i'm pretty sure the bonus scales with distance. I was on top of the antennae (the very very top, dunno how my squad member got there). I feel like a douche about it but I picked off a guy waiting for a jet on the opposing team. :D

It does increase with distance, but not metre for metre. I've headshotted opponents at 20 or 30 metres and got a 200 point marksman bonus, so it can't be metre for metre.

There is a ladder to get up there on the Antennae. I have been up there a few times. It is a good place to be with a sniper rifle. Not only can you pick people off from great distances, you can also do a whole lot of spotting for your team.

OLDSKOOLACURA
Origin is taking forever to download...............I just wanna try the beta on my PC

I gave up, I created one account that didn't work and another with a typo in my email, and when I finally got it my firewall was blocking it, And I have no Idea how to work the firewall

Alright well it wasn't in meters but it was a damn long shot.

Would it be feet? That's around 200m, so would be pretty realistic...
EDIT: WDF!?!? All my stats have been reset! (Don't flame me if everyone else knows about this)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. All stats are going to be reset at the end of the beta anyway. Mine probably need a reset. I had a pretty poor start to the game, so I'm kind of happy that the full version won't carry over my less than stellar figures from beta.

Also my stats reset for about 30mins then they came back, so I wouldn't worry too much. Although it was annoying going back to standard equipment.

I don't know, I'm not feeling the PC controls.

granted I don't have the best setup for it (mouse on bed, keyboard on lap), even so I don't really like it. I'm so used to a controller. Think I'm going to cancel my PC pre order and go back to PS3

The stats thing was a common occurrence in bc2 especially when it came close to something new like bc2 vietnam, all stats would disappear for everybody who would recently join a game and those who had been in awhile kept theirs but disappear once they exited and it'd come back hrs later

That sounds more like the worst setup if you're trying to play well. :odd: I wish I had a proper mouse pad to be even more accurate.

Why don't you just you a controller then on the pc? I've used my xbox controller to see what it was like. It works great for the vehicles, planes, etc, but it is a little hard on foot. Without aim assist like on consoles it's pretty hard to get lined up on someone, but if you tweaked the controls it might work out alright.

I know the pc version is tons better. I tried playing on the 360 a few times, and it was really hard to look at after getting use to actual HD quality. It just seems much more smooth too. I play with my keyboard and mouse on my lap setting in a chair. Here's what I use to place them on http://www.laptopdesk.net/gamers-desk.html It works really well, and is really light weight. It's kind of expensive for what you get, but for me it is well worth it.

If you do get a desk like that, make sure to get one with the larger mouse pad area. The normal one is to small, but the larger one is just about perfect. I could even stand for it to be a bit smaller so I would have a little more room on the sides to set it inside my chair.

Using a Bipod on a LMG can be both the greatest thing ever and the worst thing ever at the same time depending on how it deploys on cover. It is incredibly frustrating to spot an enemy combatant only to be killed because the bipod deploys in a wonky fashion. But those times when you are using the LMG for it's intended purpose, i.e. suppression, and the bipod deploys correctly, it is incredible. I was able to mostly hold down one MCOM by myself laying prone, bipod deployed, and tearing through anything that came into my sights. I like the M145 3.4x scope, except for the #1 crosshair above the main crosshair, which is the one you want to aim with. The #1 crosshair caught me out a few times and delayed my bullets being put on target.

I just unlocked the UMP45 and I like the weapon. The iron sights are clear and easy to use. The burst mode is very nice to have on slightly longer shots. The UMP45 fits nicely in my Engineer setup and would keep me from leveling two different weapons depending on the faction I was playing as.

After putting in around 12.5 hours of the Beta, I am finally starting to become more accustomed to using a keyboard and mouse; my win/lose percentage and kill/death ratio have both risen, with K:D significantly so. The control a mouse offers for aiming is incredible and it has been unfortunate that I have not been able to unlock a bipod for a sniper rifle, as I am sure that would have made sniping much more fun. I still have a ways to go on moving with a keyboard, but I have improved dramatically.
