Why don't you just you a controller then on the pc? I've used my xbox controller to see what it was like. It works great for the vehicles, planes, etc, but it is a little hard on foot. Without aim assist like on consoles it's pretty hard to get lined up on someone, but if you tweaked the controls it might work out alright.

I know the pc version is tons better. I tried playing on the 360 a few times, and it was really hard to look at after getting use to actual HD quality. It just seems much more smooth too. I play with my keyboard and mouse on my lap setting in a chair. Here's what I use to place them on http://www.laptopdesk.net/gamers-desk.html It works really well, and is really light weight. It's kind of expensive for what you get, but for me it is well worth it.

If you do get a desk like that, make sure to get one with the larger mouse pad area. The normal one is to small, but the larger one is just about perfect. I could even stand for it to be a bit smaller so I would have a little more room on the sides to set it inside my chair.

Yea I found out yesterday (on here) that you can use controllers for BF3. I will prob go that route, the game did look beautiful on PC (still looked great on PS3). So yea I think I'm going to stick with PC, I didn't really give it much time to get used to it (I did kill a few people lol). I just have to put in more hours because I'm still having to look down and look for certain keys.

thanks for the link, I might have to purchase that 👍

There's always small computer desks at fredmeyer or your local furniture store for dirt cheap, I got a $20 desk and mounted my wheel to it

Is the beta closed already? I'm thinking about pre-ordering the game this week but I was hoping to get a little more time in after work today.

Well it was fun while it lasted. To be honest in the end I found Metro more fun than Caspian. Without any teamplay and most of the team for that matter just waiting in the main base for a chopper or jet it just wasn't fun. I might be turned into an infantry map lover if it continues. With the controls of the choppers in jets feeling the way they do and people constantly just waiting in base for it infantry maps seem more productive and fun.

Yeah the team work and immersion I felt on Metro were more than I ever saw or felt on Caspian. It just seemed like everyone was always working so tactically to take objectives or defend them (when the majority of the team knew what they were doing) but on Caspian I felt alone and bored, even with 64 players

BF is definitely a team based game so I usually quit games when people are being stupid. Waiting around for the next plane is not necessarily a stupid thing as some people will choose to specialize in a particular role (which is part of the BF experience) so they might be legitimately hanging around to fulfill the role they chose to play. Also I find Metro being massively defensive biased. With a good team you can lock the map down effectively and should never have a need to proceed into the tunnels (which can be locked down even more effectively). Unfortunatly too many players have COD mentality and just run and run recklessly for no reason apart from racking up kills and will waltz right passes the mcom without a glance. I usually exit those games. BF is a point based game and arming/disarming can net more points than kills. I play support so I tend to provide suppression fire and rack up more points per game for this than kills.

Yea I've seen a few people run right past a armed MCOM:dunce: "ok then I'll get the points" lol

I felt the same way about caspian, until last night. I finally decided I was just going to focus on one point every game. It was a blast even when it was just me alone trying to fight off tanks and jeeps. Setting beside a control point and watching a tank and a jeep roll in, and actually pulling off a defend was really fun.

I can't wait to get into a platoon that plays together alot and really try to play the big maps how they should be played. The firefights are not as constant as metro, but when they come, they are full of action.

This.

Also helps if you can find at least one person to squad up with who at least a little competent. It's pretty disheartening sometimes how bad other players can be (not skill level but selfishness) and just hunting for the kill instead of playing for the objectives. The other night I was the gunner on the tank, my tank driver drove straight into the creek (which made no sense to begin with), got a little stuck, gave up and legged it, leaving me in the tank. Took me only a few seconds to realize he had done a runner, so I took control of the tank and got it out of the river and up onto the hilltop where I picked up a good gunner. We ended up holding the hill for almost the entire round as he was picking off all the infantry while I kept the bigger vehicles at bay. We where joined by a few infantry that helped keep the choppers at bay as our pilots where busy practicing their crash landing techniques.

I guess what I'm getting at is that there are a lot of people that will ignore the main objective of the game and just run around causing chaos (which actually makes a map like Caspian feel pretty boring), but if you do find a good bunch to play with that are all playing for the same objective and get that it's a team based game with roles that need to be filled, then it feels really rewarding.

I have a player on Origin who I added that played really well with me on metro. We pretty much singlehandedly took out all the MCOMs. But with my work i'm so busy joining a platoon would be pointless for me and the platoon and it's rare me and that guy are on at the same time. :indiff:

Some of the most fun I had during the Beta was trying to hold down a single objective almost single-handedly as an Engineer. I could take out tanks so long as there was not an enemy Engineer constantly repairing the tank I was targeting. I could move around the objective picking off opposing infantry for the most part, 50-50 at best when the enemy and I spotted each other at the same time. If I had one or two people helping me out, then the other team would have to come in numbers that put us at a big disadvantage.

I also had quite a bit of fun one game laying on top of the Antennae and spotting the other team at Checkpoint for my team there that was trying to take the point.

Yes it is true, in the beta i saw a few people with different rank emblems at levels 1 - 9

So is there a different set of guns with that too? I saw a guy lvl 2 with an M60E4

You unlock weapons depending on many points you score with a particular gun in the game.

Check the battlelog if you can, there you can find out exactly what to do to unlock your favorite gun or whatever :)
EDIT: Nevermind, it seems that´s closed aswell. bummer.

Was hoping for the US not to fight RU on every single MP map but oh well, looks fantastic anyway.

So 9 maps in total or does that not include the bonus maps like Karkand?

9 maps plus Karkland DLC so 13 in total for those of us who pre-order.

I'm hoping they do the frequent DLC like with BC2 though. BC2 shipped with only 8 maps didn't it?

This is looking like 9 maps for each mode of gameplay, then maybe the extra 4 for each. BC2 was horrible in that regard. Try playing BC2 without VIP after having VIP since launch.

Anybody else notice the ability to drag your fallen teamates to safety in the back to karkland video? Hopefully that'll mean less people (attempting) to revive you right in the line of fire.

And Damavand Peak looks epic!

Attackers in Rush and Squad Rush will start high up on a mountain ridge above a mining facility. The only way down into the valley is to somehow make the 500 meter descent.

:)

Here is a link to the BF3 platoons website I have joined. There is already a server for us. http://www.notinthefacegaming.com/home

These are players who got together from an overclocking forum and are wanting to play together as a team and actually do it the right way.

I guess i should add that this is for PC.
