Are the balanced bolts less powerful than the normal bolts on the xbow? Because I seem to only be able to get one hit headshots with balanced bolts. And I don't see why you even bother with normal bolts if they were the same damage wise.

Balanced Bolts are OHK in the head only at all ranges, Whereas the Standard bolt Is a OHK to the head and upper body up until a certain distance it feels. Ithink they're well balanced to be honest, And as you say yourself, If they had the same damage the Normal bolt would be redundant so they have done the right think in my opinion.

Any idea why the PS3 keeps crashing if I try and do the first co op mission?

Either that or the loading screen is there forever.

BF3 is constantly connecting to the server to tell it whenever you change menu screens.
If you have a dodgy connection like wireless, it will simply pause while it's connecting, and then either timeout, or crash.

I use the same method to make sure my game worx EVERY SINGLE TIME I boot the game:
I wait for the guys to start running before I press X.
I wait for the "press start to begin" before I press X again.
I wait for the game to stop SAVING before I go down to where it says MY SOLDIER and I press X.
This forces the game to check and synchronize with the servers and load all of my 🤬 for my classes.
Then I go do some dying in a server somewhere full of noobs; cos I suck.

Also, with you being in Lincoln, I wouldn't recommend calling the USA to get your battlelog fixed.
Go to the EA/BF3 website and search for support, and there you'll find an option to start a live chat with an advisor.
They are a bit lacklustre, but they should be able to resolve your issue in real time while you wait.

A bit of advice needed please :)

I had to replace my motherboard and chipset (due to failure). As a consequence I also had to reformat my main drive and clean install Windows 7 :(. I have since done all of that, I still need to activate Windows again but it may refuse due to the major change. I have heard phone activation is the way to go.

Anyway, I have all of my games saved on my second drive and tried to load BF3. It asked to re download the Origin client (which I did). It then asked me to enter my product key and says that the key is already in use.

What should I do ?

I'm trying not reinstall the game as I don't want to redownload all of the maps and patches etc. I have a premium account.

I also have BF3 premium on PS3 so I can play if needed but I want to get it running on my PC again. I also installed an Asus GTX680 2GB and upped the onboard ram, so I'm curious to play it on higher graphics settings.

EDIT : I think I may have been using the wrong email account for Origin, I will try again when I get home.

You shouldn't need to do all of that. Just open Origin (with the right email), make sure your install directory is correct in Origin settings (clean install...), and then "install" the game from the my games tab (right click, etc. It will act like it is going to download, check and see the files are there, then skip the download and finish installing).
 
Was there a 4gb patch released today for PC?

I thought I was downloading the Aftermath expansion pack but it's saved as "Patch" on my hard drive. It says I have access to to Aftermath but it won't download....
 
Yes. The 3.8gb "patch" was the aftermath files. Gameplay available 12/04. Not sure what time, maps are currently not available in the US.
 
Ok cheers, I was confused because there are populated AM servers.

And it's 7:35pm here on 12/04. Hopefully it goes live soon.

If you're talking to me, then I don't know... It's still downloading.

A couple minutes left.

Hopefully it will be alot better then the big tank maps, didn't like them much.

Pfffft... 51-0. I've done like 21-63 with 8 different guns :) I haven't got aftermath yet even though I'm premium. Haven't logged in for a while, and I'm addicted to ac3.
 
Just managed to get Aftermath working (don't get how DICE still don't know how to launch DLC properly), haven't played Talah Market yet but the other three maps are pretty good from what I've seen, one of those three I've only played Scavenger on so I'm looking forward to trying it in CQ Large. Just unlocked the crossbow and stopped for the evening. All in all, launch issues aside, it's a pretty solid DLC. I do seem to have frame rate issues on Monolith, though.
 
Just had a personal mini war with some guy:
I got bored and started mortaring (yes i know), so this guy plants a spawn becon next my base and starts running about with a P90, every time i start mortaring he shoots me in the back (happens like 6 times because my team are useless).
I decide to move the amtrac to the side of the base then mortar nearby to draw him, as he runs over i jump in the amtrac which blows up as he has somehow planted C4 on it.
I receive a message stating 'You are not smarter than me.'

As i receive this i come flying over the hill in a buggy with the horn blaring and cream him... deeply satisfying:tup:

The lesson to be learned from this is, 'in BF3 road rage solves everything'.

Yes it is a cool story, bro.:)

Oh yeah, Wasnt the Soldier upgrade supposed to be released today?, Its normally the first Tuesday of the month when they drop, Thats the pattern anyway.
 
I have mostly enjoyed Scavenger so far. The selection of the lesser used weapons is a nice change of pace from the usual tryhard weapons. However, a few attachment choices made by DICE are questionable. I would like to give whoever decided to put an ACOG on the M249 a piece of my mind. The ACOG is a horrible optic for the weapon.
 
The best way to use a ACOG on the M249 is to be disciplined on the trigger. However I feel the kobra sight is far worse, then the ACOG.
 
I'm not a fan of the Kobra either :yuck:. My favourite sights depend on the gun. If the iron sights are horrible (FAMAS and SCARs, I'm looking at you) then I'll generally use a Holographic or ACOG. But most of the time, I'm happy with the Iron Sights 👍

SCAR's have very usable irons in my opinion.

AN-94 and FAMAS however???, I've wondered they can't be that bad in real life and if for some reason they are, Do they want their soldiers to be at such disadvantage?
 
I usually use the Holograpic sight for everything except sniper rifles where I will use a high power scope.

I don't find the Kobra that bad though. Better than iron sights on most weapons imo.
 
My favorite sight is the PSO-1. No sniper glint, but you can still get accurate shots from just as far away. And it also has a handy-dandy rangefinder.
