So Ive had this game freeze on me twice now. Just happened again right now, playing the level Rock and a Hard Place,
on the part where you have to run from the jet to get to the stingers, game freezes, video first, then audio, reset console (PS3). The other was last night on the loading screen for the mission at the mall. (I forget what its called), game screen just started flickering and generally frizzing out. Went to PS menu, also flickering, but navigated to turn off system. Very annoying and confusing.

Anyone else having similar issues? PS3 launch model 60gb here.

Hollidog I've got a slim and I had mine freeze on the second level a couple times in the same place. I had to go shut off the ps3 both times. To stop it the 3rd time I just ran a different route and stayed back a lot farther than the other 2 times and it worked.

If you've been playing for a while, your PS3 may be overheating? I a glitch where there was like a white block that would block your vision when you looked at a certain spot after playing for a while but turned off the PS3 and played later and it was fine.

So I completed the single player, did it on hard and I think for that I improved the gameplay experience (better than zipping through on normal, with its aim assist). Enjoyed the game though it was a little shorter than I would hope and too linear, storymode hollywood movie style like the COD MW series. But good none the less.

Now when I get time I will try the online mode, from what I'm told the game isnt very well balanced for new players and to quote "high level players with all the gear can just own you". I'm not the best FPS gamer in the world so combined with my apparent lack of skill and just starting online, I assume I am going to get my ass handed to me.

Will try it this weekend hopefully!

It was worse in BC2, when higher ranks had magnum ammo. That's not the case in this, all guns use the same ammo, and they all pretty much act the same. You're biggest concern should be getting used to the maps

They should have included a max rank option on the servers. And test servers that don't count towards your stats.
I started my account with 6 deaths, no kills because I was setting up the airplane and heli controls.

I did a sneaky 2 matches this morning, my biggest annoyance is people with torches in the middle of the day, it seems that people run around with torches and lasers on to blind you so you can't aim at them, even though it shows you exactly where they are, seems this makes a massive difference. Since you have to be accurate with your shots, the torch can make it really hard to get it right, and if you don't have the torch they can easily shoot you. Honestly, I think this is stupid and should be removed, it hardly improves the gameplay experience.

Also seems that just like in BFBC2 having crappy but fast shooting weapons is a big advantage, I had an M16 (start weapon?), and though on my screen I shot the guy 3 times, and he ended up on 20% health, I died because his little pew pew sub-machine gun shoots faster. This happened to me loads of times, sort of "oh come on, I shot him 3 times", was no different in BFBC2 though.

Another annoyance, when somebody on the other side knife kills someone on your side, their red (enemy) sign above their head seems to disapear, I stood there watching a guy get stabbed, while in the motion the red disapeared (not the blue) making me think it was one of ours killing one of theirs. Turns out it was an enemy when his red mark popped back up as he ran off with me shooting him.

Thats all I have time for today, lag issues seem better than BC2, graphics are beautiful and the maps look cool (though they are all new to me), but so far I've seen almost no team work and a lot of torch lights in the middle of the day.

I said bye bye to COD as soon as I experienced Battlefield BC2, and the weakness of MW2 sealed the deal. Black Ops was a better experience, and if I am to play another COD game it will be by Treyarch, never again Infinity Ward.
Anyway, Battlefield 3: brilliant. One criticism? They tried to take influence from CODs set pieces too many times. Havent played it online yet, but am assured it is the best multiplayer shooter money can buy.

Don't worry... your assumption is correct ;)

On the torches:

As soon as you know where to shot in relation to the flare, you take one down after the other. It's a dead giveaway especially at distance.

The balancing is way off tough, had mathes where I had a team of sub 10 level play again a whole team +15 levels.

But then I simply change server till I find a lag free, balanced one

On the unfairness of weapons, .... a bit. But you can easily kill higher levels with the entry guns.

Tried the flight school yesterday. was fun, got the flares for the jet. Though there was a troll. 136 jet kills and still pawning noobs at the flight school. That's just sad. I fly keyboard only.
So i left after a round

The game is so much fun though if you have a good team/ match.
Had a 800 score (not final match score) yesterday by shooting 2 guys 👍 avenger *2 flag defend *2 headshot,....

Agreed.

Loving the game so far. I did some more singleplayer today. I'm onto Thunder Run now. Everytime I try to do a coop mission I get disconnected from the EA server not too long into the mission so I've yet to complete any of those so far.

I had a similar experience on a flight school server. There was one guy who basically had many things unlocked on the jets and it gave him a big advantage.

I also had to deal with at least one person shooting Stingers at me as soon as I would take off.

I did do that actually, ran behind a truck on the jet level and she just didn't want to play ball. Went a different way the next time and there was no problems.

I often play for much longer on GT and a lot longer in my COD days, perhaps 5 or so hours usually, but this was only about two hours in, in a nice cool room, with lots of ventilation around the PS3 too.

Ive also notice a lot of graphical issues as well, some lines coming from characters faces off into random points in the distance, holes missing from textures. Also, has anyone else notices that thermals don't work if you are looking through a window. I was playing the second to last mission as Dima with the house, (forget the title) and shooting people in the dark corridor with a Scar-H on thermal, couldn't see enemies through the glass on the left hand side as you go around the corner.

You guys saw IGN's pick thingy right? Where they sent the little dog to pick which game would be better? It went right to COD and started licking the box, so I think that was a clue.

I got an EOD Bot kill yesterday!

I was just wondering yesterday if EOD bots could kill, thanks for clearing that up! Now I'm wondering if MAVs can get road kills like the UAV in BC2, I already know that they can kill other MAVs (and other equipment), which is pretty useful, maybe they'd be a bit too useful if they could kill infantry too...

EOD do more than kill. They arm MCOMS and blow up tanks.
