Regarding Op. Metro, whoever gets to B first essentially wins. I've been on both sides of triple capping, but only once has my te been able to get right to the enemy base (we were US).
A good strategy as the US team is to equip Sprint and have two or three squads go to B Flag and leave one squad to capture A Flag.

Then it looks like im that two or three squads because every time i play im the only one who runs to B.

Video in post #6404
Holy crap that pilot ejecting from his jet to shoot the pilot of the other jet with a gun, then jump back into his jet was incredible. That had to be staged??!! If that was real, there is no way anyone could top that. wow!

The guy that made that video has done similar things with RPGs.

I think the guy has practiced ejecting from his jet quite a bit and trying to shoot down chasing jets. Consequently, he has failed many times trying to pull off the shots and I believe he has a video showing such.

I'm sure the US team have an advantage on Operation Metro. Every time I've played it the Russian team have been unable to break through into the subway station, and are often pushed back to their base and surrounded by snipers. Even when they do eventually break through and capture A and B, it's not for long.

Whoever holds B has the advantage on Operation Metro. Both sides have three directions to push into and all three directions are death traps. Where problems occur is one side getting impatient, trying to push a three cap, and spreading the team too thin or a team neglecting one of the three directions and the other team slipping by. I find the U.S. side of B to be slightly easier to defend because the three entrances into B from the Russian side basically all flow into the ticket booth area.

EDIT to Prevent Double Post: I just played three games. The last two were with a guy who was going with my squad orders. The two of us PTFO and just wiped up on points (both of us over 10k). The third game, the team I was on managed to waste a 150-200 ticket advantage at the end and lose by 24 tickets.

I also tried the G3A3 with the M26 MASS as the Underbarrel Attachments and a Heavy Barrel and it was very effective. The range with the Buckshot was outstanding. I just unlocked the M26 DART, but have not had a chance to try it out yet.

Frustration trying to find a normal server, or a custom one that isnt being spawn camped. Even searching for Dice and P24 is turning up fewer and fewer official servers now :indiff:

Edit: Eventually found a well balanced GB 750ticket server. A real ding dont battle against some good players, with some good players. Seems though, that the new troll move on that map if facing RU, is for RU soldiers to camp in the building overlooking to US stationary missile launcher. With a spawn beacon, they camp up there and snipe you defending A or divert attention at least, whilst you flush them out. Ruddy annoying.

That is because it is glitched. Apparently, when the M26 is equipped underslung on a gun with a heavy barrel, the M26 damage is that of the assault rifle it is equipped to.

That is why I am trying it out. Typically, I avoid using weapons with unforeseen mechanics. In this case, I wanted to try it out and I really enjoyed it.

Starting to dislike the private servers. Took me ages to find a game/rotation I was interested in last night. Most of the available games were all massive ticket count servers, I don't want one round to last 1.5 to 2 hours, about half an hour is fine by me. Even searching the Dice servers came up short as they were all full or about a quarter full. :grumpy:

Ran into quite a few guys using the M-26 Mass at Bazaar so perhaps the word is out that it's glitched. I haven't tried it myself but I did get killed by one from nearly one end of the alleyway to the other. :odd:

Last few days of BF3 for me have been average as whenever I've had the chance to get on I've always had to play with randoms. After squadding up with guys you know, the difference as I'm sure you guys know is massive.

@ Drag: Are you still working on/doing the guide for here?

Cheers Shaun.

This, and then for the last 6 games I have found and played, I have been D/C from 5 of them.

Guys, I know that being randomly thrown into private servers sucks, but remember what Patrick (I think) said: search "P24".

People have coined on and renaming private server with the P24xxxxx name too now.

Another 3 D/C. Stupid Dice.

I am really liking the G3A3 again now and it likely has to do with the greater power at mid range. The extra stopping power of the 7.62x51mm NATO round makes quite a difference compared to the 5.56x45mm NATO/5.45x39mm round. The weapon is not overly great in close quarters, but the M26 underslung helps make up for that deficiency somewhat and if worse comes to worse, then I always have one of the M1911 variants as my sidearm. I find myself using the G3A3 in semi-auto much more often than fully automatic. The added precision of single shots is very nice.

EDIT: It has been absolutely brutal going for the last few hours. The headlining game I managed four kills and five deaths. :banghead: I do not know why I am continuing with spawn and then die over and over.

I also think I am going to abandon Recon for a while. The changes to Suppression have made using the M40A5 or L96 in my previous fashion incredibly difficult. I use both where shots beyond 200 meters are very uncommon; I would use the 8x scope to assess the situation at the point I was proceeding to capture and pick off any easy targets at said objective. Now, if I am spotted, by the time I quickly line up a head shot, then I am already suppressed, even if the other person is not even close with aiming, and it makes having a "precision" rifle worthless. I would be better off using a weapon that I return spam fire and hope by spamming I land enough bullets for a kill.

Semi-auto rifle + bipod, the bolt action rifles are only good for one thing which makes them useless in most combat situations anyway. The semi-automatic rifles are more versatile and more effective when actually trying to help your team.

I think I am better off just taking a break from this game for a few days or a week or something. I cannot for the life of me have anything go right. I just played part of a game and was 5 and 13 (two of the five kills were on bush wookiees) going for objectives and I may as well not have been playing because had I not been playing the team I was on would achieve the same objective, i.e. getting run over. Not having any kind of team play going on just sucks and I am not good enough to go solo. It is getting old joining servers only to have one team be much better than the other. The last half-dozen games have consisted of wherever I spawn I am in a big time danger zone likely to die quickly and painfully from multiple sources with little to no hope of survival.

Speaking of getting run over, I was able to revive my friend 5 times because he kept on getting run over by the same Humvee

I know what you mean man. I've had times where I can go on an 8 game win-streak, and then turn around and have a 12 game losing streak.

This may have been posted (I'd be surprised if it hasn't), but in case anyone hasn't seen it...

This explains a lot! The short version: Some solid-looking surfaces can be shot through, and crates you can't see but the other player can can block your shots. These may have been patched (I suppose it's hard to tell in normal play), but I wouldn't bet on it.

I bet he felt crushed after that ordeal.

So tonight, not nearly as bad as yesterday and Saturday night. Those nights where nothing seems to go your way can be incredibly frustrating and make you wonder why you continue to play the game. Tonight was a different story and a much better experience. It is amazing what balanced teams can do for the gaming experience. I played two games with 600 tickets and won both. Both games finished with less than an 150 ticket difference and the first game had only a 42 ticket difference. If the second game had about 100 more tickets, then it would have likely been a bit closer, as the other team was doing a very good job at taking points and also had some momentum swinging to their team.

I watched a video about the L96 shooting a bit high now in the new patch and I am thinking that may be correct after using the Mk 11 Mod 0. I was able to quickly nail four or five headshots with the weapon. I may not use any of the bolt action rifles for some time after using the Mk 11 Mod 0 briefly. The advantages of the semi-automatic action likely outweigh any benefit of using a bolt action rifle.
