Beater or Sleeper? GT6 Car of the Week Thread

Hey, don't look at me, I have an European car ready and primed if I ever get called a "winner" of this biz again. You just spoke to the wrong people, that's all. :sly:

But hey, good choice. The Focus ST does tick all boxes, except the one that says "RS 500", but hey, beggars can't be choosers. And besides, I need to drive this more, I get the feeling that I've been missing out on all the fun. Can you do it, Ford?

I'm calling it now, Someone is going to complain about the dodgy 5th gear. :P

To the ones who don't know this, PD being PD made a mistake when inputting the ST's gear ratios causing 5th gear to be very long.

How long is it? (BONUS race hint)

This kind.

A fair enough answer, Mr. Brad, I'll accept it. Does this mean you love chimichangas, by any chance?

Oh PD, when will you learn how to beta test things before putting them out for the whole market to see? I actually never knew about that, and I am surprised to hear that it hasn't been fixed.

Ah well, hopefully the handling part isn't too broken, at least.

How long is it? (BONUS race hint)

Be careful with that bonus race, you may never know if a lion might come and strike you... :sly: Beware of latecomers, if you prefer.

Now that was a strong blow, Mc. Man, I do hope this whole "PD hires former Forza sound guy" bit solves the sound issues, so that such an annoying complaint can finally bite the dust... Meanwhile, let's worry about the A.I. instead, shall we?

It won't happen overnight. I wouldn't expect any changes until GT7.

There are no volunteers, only victims...

No, sadly this is serious.

A volunteer for what sort of aspect?

Oh wait, you probably don't want to put all the cards out right away. But does it involve the game itself?

Yes, it's game and thread related. First one to volunteer gets a PM with the details.

I think we should be allowed to fix the trans for Tuesday. Apparently, the Focus ST has a final gear for 1st to 4th and a separate final drive gear for 5th and 6th. Not totally PDs fault, but could have figured out the effective ratio. I found the corrected ratios. http://www.focusst.org/forum/focus-...013-focus-st-featured-gran-turismo-6-a-5.html

Sadly there's no way to limit mods on Tuesday. I would definitely abuse the option.

The Focus ST '13 is a bigger, fatter Neon SRT4, and that's not a bad thing. I'll call this one a sleeper, but only barely.

It's too bad the Mazdaspeed 3 and VW Golf VI GTI weren't in the game, as they would make great rivals for the Focus.

Sure, the Golf VII GTI would be a great competitor! Golf R is 4WD, so I wouldn't count that.

And what game is the MS3 in?
Forza.

First impressions aren't good, I'm afraid. 4th gear is the highest useful gear. The lift off oversteer is ver welcome on entry, but the understeer on exit is not welcome at all. It also looks as though the LSD that the real car has, albeit electronic, didn't find its way into the game either. This car is a really badly replicated version. I will reserve judgement though until after Tuesday.

Well, I didn't think I'd like it at all, based upon the sound. It handled fairly well, so I've been messing with it for the better part of today. I just couldn't tune the thing. I found a cardboard box tune to be the best overall, but it was missing something, for me anyway:

Then I decided to just throw some stuff at it and see what sticks. Nothing like I'd expect to work, but it does. A half second quicker around Deep Forest. Try it out!
