What is the best 500PP car to use at the Nurburgring Nordscheleife?
I'm new to this PP system so help me out please :)

Did you try any? The S2000s are my recent fav. They seem to suit my driving pretty well. I use sports soft.

Generally the lighter the better, because of all the twisties, but 1100-1200kg mark is fine, I find. I had an RX7, 1250kg, which loved the place.

I just had my first drive of a "Mazda RX-7 Spirit
R Type A (FD) '02" from the new car dealership. Holy crap, it just eats the ring up. You think you have pushed it too far and noooope sooo nice to drive

Bingo. :) Amazing isn't it, there's just something about it. And I didn't even need an LSD...!

I found a Lotus Esprit GT which I lightly tuned (1st stage weight reduction) and some increase in air intake - with a wing taking it to 500pp.

I put the suspension settings etc on the tuning forums which you should find doing a search. It was faster than every touring car and with such a powerful V8 engine maintained high top speeds in the straight sections. The overall weight to power ratio is what you need to get right round Nordsh. Its not a case of having the lightest car - the Esprit would easily beat an Elise round there at the same pp.

In addition to the M3 and Lotus suggestions, there are some good R32 and R34s below 500. I don't know about FDs at 500 PP. They don't feel as tight as I'd like. I think the FCs were tighter, but I don't know about getting them up to 500 PP.

I would also recommend the 3400S. The RGT isn't bad if you can handle it. I can't.

I also imagine the Z33 and Z34s would be good. They are very stable, but they might be a little sluggish. Not sure.

I am recently toying around with the BMW Z4M coupe, and I thought I've seen it all, but someone did a 8:30.xxx with it on the 24 hr track. And it had a wing. And he drafted no one.

I am having fun driving it with only stage 3 engine, and negative toes. (I don't do wings) Most any tune to your liking, will work on it.

NSX-R. No suspension, no engine tune, no weight reduction, just slap some removables on it until you reach 500pp and it's a perfect car.

I have done quite well online with the FT-86 at 500PP. Very fun car. You will need a lead going on to the long straight, however, as you will get eaten alive at that point.

Some not mentioned already would be:

M3 CSL (no one mentioned it yet?!)
Lotus Evora (has the MR advantage, but way easier to drive than the NSX, I.M.O.)
Golf R (4WD especially good when limited to low-grip tires or in the rain. Don't waste points on downforce so you have competitive top speed.)
Challenger SRT8 (ok maybe not the ideal 'ring car, but paint it all black with black rims to intimidate anyone in front of you into crashing :D)
Spoon S2000 race car

NSX-R with a good driver probably beats all else though.

You didn't say what kind of races and rules. I think you could get a Chaparral 2J down to this PP.

You said use always choose the wrong car. Which cars have you tried and which car won the race? Are you just too slow or are you having problems staying on the track?

At 500PP with sports hard tires you want laps around 7:50. Most of the cars mentioned will run times this quick or faster.

You didn't say how many laps and if tire wear is on. If so, I like the Evora, RX 7 and even the 86 GT.

Thanks, I ask because I lose online races because I often choose the wrong car.

In my opinion, the BMW M coupe is the perfect 500pp car for me. i used to be hooked on running 450-500pp cars and i often hosted a room at the nurburgring, and the M coupe put everyone on the edge of their seats. of course its all on the driver, so thats why, personally, i chose the BMW. i hope you find the right car for you.

This list does not have the fastest, but ones I find to be a lot of fun. Besides, folks have already hit the obvious rockets in the range. A well set up Rx7 is hard to beat.

Personal fav is my Mustang tuned to approximate my personal ride, 2012 5.0 with Brembo package. Actually sits a bit lower at 492PP. Runs 7:57 laps on sports hard... Think eventually I will get it into the 40's. Probably not the best for races but a blast to drive after much tweaking.

Maxed out Golf R is close to 500, maybe a bit over?. Easy car to get around especially with a torque splitter to bias it to the rear. TTS is similar and faster. Without trying to hard I was cracking 8 minutes with the golf. Haven't run a 500 spec with the TTS.

Another less. common option is the infinity g35. 500 PP gives some decent room to spiff it up. I use it as a stand in for a left hand drive 350z. It has almost identical handling if you get the weight and weight distro matched.

A tuned M3 CSL is a very nice ring ride. Wish it was a premium as I prefer the cockpit view. Probably be my weapon of choice for online races.

The Camaro SS is a very solid ride. Sports hard, stock with an oil change I have run 8:0x laps pretty consistently. Wouldn't take much to drop its times considerably but cannot remember its stock PP.
