That's in XXX; it's a '66 or '67 GTO. The black car in the incredibly stupid crash scene from Fast & Furious (let's see, this car runs into a truck with a side like a brick wall, yet somehow it ends up barrel rolling through the air, yeah right) is a '69 or '70 Charger.

Been thinking about car crashes in movies. Obviously, these things are quite difficult to do because they're kinda dangerous.

It thought of two, both involve trucks. The first one comes at the end of the car chase in Lethal Weapon 4. The baddie, driving the inevitable Mercedes 500SEL, is fleeing down a freeway off ramp when he's T-boned by an 18-wheeler, that makes the Mercedes banana-shaped.

The second one is the first heist in Heat, where the villains roadblock an armoured car, and a large wrecking truck simply drives into the side of it.

Both of these are remarkable in their sheer violence, especially the one in Lethal Weapon 4, because that's actually quite unexpected.

I guess you have to like (in a painful way!) the end to the 355 vs Hummer scene in The Rock as well, even though it's reasonably apparent that the trashed car is a fake.

Bullit's scene owns!!! I have it on DVD just for that chase. The rest of the movie isnt that great.

I have seen Ronin's scene, and it didn't quite live up to it's hype, but none the less, it was great.

Also, I recommend the French Connection. It is around the same time as Bullit's release. Check it out. A nice chase that reminds me of Driver.

Bullitt chase scene was fantastic
the 2 chases in Ronin (look closely at the first scene when the citroen avoids the road workers truck;))
both gone in 60 seconds (first movie there is a massive crash on a light/telegraph pole) and who could forget the shelby from the second one
and the driving in the fast and the furious (at start of the movie when they hijack the truck)
also the mad max scenes are fantastic
one last one :the dead pool where dirty harry is being chased by the mental dude with an R/C corvette?

cheers guys

has anyone seen "Taxi"? it's a french movie, it's damn good, the car may be a little exaggerated, and the chase scenes aren't so amazing. but it's got great driving, and one good chase. then there's the Blues Brothers and Blues Brothers 2000, a funny racing movie called "The Cannonball Run" and it's sequel, they're old and messed up but the racing is pretty nice, and then the chase scene from the original "Gone in Sixty Seconds"...it lasts for like, 40 seconds

I defintely think Ronin had some of the best car chases and crashes. Hands down. 👍

Vanishing point- the whole movie.
Also the start of The canonball run with the white Lamborghini Countach obviously speeded up but that car is just the epitome of style:cool:

Well I think you've got to look at the chase scene in the Parisian tunnel in Ronin, that was pretty cool.
damn, i was gonna post about ronin  pretty cool ehy? they even paid attention to little details, like when denero (how ever you spell it) did a 180, they showed him using his brakes and e brake to spin all the wheels. i dunno this is prob normal, but i've never seen a movie take detail into such a thing

oceans 11, in the beginning when the two brothers are drag racing against eachother,

LOL  That was funny! He got annoyed with the little RC monster truck and decided to run over it...heheh...

Seriously, my favorite scene? I don't know if you would call this a crash/race scene, but I have to say the movie Speed with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock have some of the coolest crash/race scenes(hey...they have to stay above 50 MPH!) I like it when they have to make their escape at the Airport while circling the runways. And at the end when Keanu and Sandra have to slide out of the bus from the emergency door on the floor of the bus. That would hurt. I know there's another movie that I really like with race/crash scenes, but I'm too tired right now to think.

Both are instant classics in car crashes, I am surprise though no one even mention that Jackie Chan flick where the chick is handcuffed to Jackie and she is a rally driver. She tears it up in a white Evolution 6 I believe. that was an awesome scene, she flipped the car on the side and started to spin the car around, that should count as a crash scene. Another good one was in 'The Transporter' The first car scene with the 5-series BMW, the whole jumping off the bridge would also be considered a crash.

I watched "The Transporter" this past weekend. Very nice action flick. I think the first car chase was in a 7 series BMW. In fact, if you listen to when the inspector is talking with Statham after the chase, he first refers to it as a 765 and then later a 735. the subtitles follow that dialogoue.

That Jackie Chan flick was "Who am I?" if I recall. And it was a spectacular chase scene. It also had perhaps one of hte best fight scenes I've seen in a movie in a while (the one on top of hte builiding).

Yeah, after I posted it and thought about the Bimmer your right. . . Actually, speaking of the devil, when I took a trip to Connecticut to visit my momz on the way from New York to Connecticut an FBI car goes speeding by and it was a 2000 7-series. Gorgeous in every way except the fact it was government.

As for the Jackie Chan movie, that has gotta be one of his best ones.

After 40+ years of chase scenes...(and I have seen them all)...my vote is for Bullitt. French Connection, Ronin, and others are a distant 2nd place. Gone in 60 Seconds did not develop the auto types at all...it was weak!

McQueen also did the nice little motorcycle chase in the Great Escape...

Watched "The Transporter" last night:D ...when did it come out? Some how I missed it...but loved the DVD...my son downloaded the French version a week or two ago, said I had to see it. The action was great, the BMW 735 was great, the fight scenes were a serious Jackie Chan!

i liked the transporter, the only thing i didnt like was the ending, it just kind of jumped out at the end, didnt seem like it had too much building up to it.

Yes, absolutely. The chase scene in that was excellent. Set to "Ready Steady Go" by Oakenfold.

Rubbish! Nobody who knows anything about motorsport could think that that movie was anything but unmitigated rubbish!

Anyone think the Matrix Reloaded car chase is up there with these? The scene in Matrix was awesome, but I've never seen these other ones, so I wouldn't be able to compare.

-I think the chase seen at the very start with Corvette in xXx is pretty good

-I also like the Matrix Reloaded car chase scene as well...

I have a question though...What is Bullitt about?

Looks like i'll have to rent out Gone in 60 Seconds.
