Best gr.1 all-round car?

Can't say for non-BOP performance, as I mostly only drive these cars in the FIA, but basically you can divide the Gr.1 class into 3 further subclass each with their own strength/weaknesses:

1) Modern hybrids
- Best handling, easiest to drive, great braking and acceleration due to hybrid boost
- Poor top speed and front tyre wear can be an issue due to front hybrid deploying
- R18 is usually fastest but power oversteer can be an issue
- In fuel limited races TS050 is king
- TS030 can be a dark horse in tracks with long corners (e.g. Interlagos) because the R18/TS050/919 doesn't deploy its hybrid unless the wheel is <45 degrees

2) VGTs/modern non hybrids
- Intermediate handling & ease of use
- Lacks acceleration compared to hybrids but makes up in top speed
- Tomahawk, Alpine and LM55 are the trinity here. The pendulum has swung a few times depending on BOP changes, fuel/tyre and track, but currently Tomahawk seems to have the edge
- Tomahawk especially good on tracks with long flowing corners (e.g. Tokyo South, Kyoto Yamagiwa) and very good on fuel
- LM55 is probably the best Gr.1 in terms of tyre saving
- Old R18 and Pug 908 can be fast too in right hands, but their ultimate pace isn't quite as good as the above due to higher tyre wear

3) Group Cs
- Poor handling and brakes compared to the modern cars, slow shift speeds but has the highest top speeds
- Save these for ultra high speed tracks (e.g. Tokyo East, La Sarthe No Chicane)
- R92CP is comfortably the fastest (the others might have a chance if PD actually set their gearbox properly )

4) Meme class
- Nismo GT-R LM
- Avoid unless you're just racing for lulz :p

Tnx for info

I think the 2016 Audi R18 is on paper, the most primitive of the modern LMP-H cars.

Porsche took over the reigns after Audi bowed out of Le Mans.

I've spent most wheel time on this given its one of the first cars gifted to me when I was poor back in 2017 so I persevered with it. I would suggest people try to understand and study what the car is in real life to better help you drive it in game.

As far as I know, the car is a single turbo diesel 4.0 v6 which does a mere 525hp and 850Nm. It does have a huge 450hp lithium ion MGU. You will never get all that power at the same time. The computers dole out the power as needed.

So you come out of corners the MGU will be working. Once you get on the straights the diesel V6 takes over.

Although PD says it is MR, the diagrams clearly show that the car is 4wd however I think it only does it via electric on the front axle.

It has that typical Audi bullcrap where the car can understeer into a corner and then you hit the power too hard in 1st and it forces out 450hp electric power and you get oversteer.

I think the Porsche 919 and TS050 are both superior but I know the R18 back to front so I feel confident driving it.

Maxxed out on final drive I dont think the car will do much over 330km/h so on the high speed runs against the VGTs and Gr.C cars you will get overtaken.

I also think this car has had consistent handling thru the years. PD havent fiddled with the way it drives unlike other Gr.1 cars.

One of the weirdest things is the way PD handles the power rating of these cars.

PD says this car only does 525hp but it doesnt account for electric.

But this car is faster than the 700hp Alpines and Hyundai Audi VGTs Then you get to the 900hp VGTs.

I would put the LMP-H cars in the same performance class as the VGTs except on the straights.

I tried the Hyundai and Audi VGTs and got wasted by everything else so clearly not much point to these cars.

Tot

Totally forgot that.does anybody know what is the advantage of diesel cars?
Diesels are in a middle ground between old gasoline cars and new hybrids. They have more power and more top speed than hybrids, but they consume more fuel, and have a bit less good handling. And on the opposite side they have better handling than the old cars and consume less fuel.

Overall I think old cars are the worst cars in general because of the poor handling, slow shifting, and having only 5 speed. They can only do well in extremely high speed tracks like La Sarthe (no chicanes). Well, worst cars besides the worst of all which is the Nissan Nismo.
