I am really thinking of importing a japanese version of GT4, even though I don't read a word of Japanese. What is the best place to import the game. Also if I get the American version down the road, will my saved japanese game work with it?

well, if history is any indication your saved games will NOT work on the american version, come to think of it not even replays worked on GT3 doing corss version saves if i remmember correctly, but this time around the replays thing might be different... afterall, they had to make the networking compatible because online was going to be part of the game, so changing things too much wouln't make sense.

but as far as the saved games go, i think they won't work at all.

also, japanese lenguage shouln't be too much of a barrier on a driving game when compared to other games, and i'm sure it won't take long for someone to translate the option menus to english.

which one should I get

Gran Turismo 4 (Chinese)

or Gran Turismo 4 (Japanese)

I'm guessing it doesn't really matter...?

Get the Japanese version, you may in future easily learn katakana and understand more of the game.
