I've always wondered about this, especially with the 3 week lapse we're in right now...  What are the drivers doing between GPs?  Do they spend the majority of the time testing in the cars, or is most of it free time?

They probably have a mix of testing cars, trying to make them faster, and just having time to themselves.
then again we'll never know...

They do sometimes test but I don't think there is any testing during this break. Most will be in Monaco because that is where they all live. Some may be on holiday (appart from Alesi who is rumoured to be at Silverstone knocking out a contract with Jordan). The team as a whole will work right through the two weeks developing the car in the wind tunnels etc. and on the third week they will head of to Hungary.

Hi, From what I read on various F1 website's, the week following a GP say Tues - Fri is mainly testing, When in Europe the team trucks set-off for the next event on the Saturday, Drivers normally set-0ff on a Mon-Tues.
Even out of season lot's of testing takes place, just about every week, exept December, when I think they have banned testing.

Thanks for the replies!  :)  They ban testing in December??  That's odd...  :odd:

Its good though because it allows teams to have a holiday. Testing is also banned for these 3 weeks before the Hungarian GP but they are allowed 50km to shakedown the cars which is the the only time Frentzen and Alesi will be able to try the Prost and Jordan for the first time.

Yes thats right Phil, How the heck are some guys going to get a holiday :)
Actually right now there is a testing ban too (3 weeks) upto the next GP at Hungary,   teams only allowed to do 50km about 30 mile,  oh yes the last race was Germany, ban from that race to the Hungary one.  Must be holidays again  :)

PS  Jordan, I will find you a couple of good links for F1.

Thanks, Rob!  :D

You're right, Lee, Motorsports Mundial is an outstanding show.  If only they didn't show it at 2:00 AM on Sunday nights.  :reallymad:

2 am??

They show it at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 11:30 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m Saturday (if there is no F1 qualifying scheduled), 7:30 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. I guess the schedule is way different in KY.

Sorry, my bad.  :frown:  I was thinking of another show on SV.
