So when are the 3d TV's coming out? I suspect that they will want to release them together.

UK, March 10, 2010 - Sony's PlayStation 3 could be 3D ready as soon as this June, with reports suggesting a firmware update coinciding with the release of Sony's first 3D TV will enable the console to output in 3D.

PlayStation 3's capacity to support 3D gaming has already been touted with playable versions of Gran Turismo and Super Stardust on show at this year's CES. Now as Sony prepares to seriously enter the 3D space with the launch of its first 3D TV in Japan on June 10 it looks as if the PlayStation 3 will be following suit.

Hmm. If E3 is on June 15, I'm going to guess a July or August release for GT5. If it's not July, then we're looking at Christmas times.
 
Did any of you really think there wuld be news, it was said beforehand that this was all going to be about the Move. I am surprisd anything was mentioned!

It's typically a game that takes longer than it would usually take to make a game of that size. Problem is from the sounds of things GT5 will have more content than any game before it. Sure GT4 will be close, but it was based on GT3 so that took a big chunk of development time out of it. I really think people are just trigger happy with that word, gets annoying really fast.
 
E3 should be what TGS 2009 should have been. Not that TGS was bad, but its expectations were gigantic.

And all we really want to see is a ****ing trailer with rain, snow, lighting, a couple more manufacturers, damage, maybe some tuning and customizing. That's all we want to see. That's it.

I want the game inside my PS3! Not trailers :yuck: At least there is GOW3 and the bastard of Lazaravich to kill in extreme mode! :trouble:

Even if GT5 is ready for the summer I doubt it will be released then due to financial reasons. The summer is often a poor time to release a video game which is why releases are thin on the ground. This is partly due to gamers being outdoors enjoying the warm summer sunshine rather than playing on their consoles. Also many people generally have less money due to spending this on their summer holidays (vacations).

I reckon either Autumn or dare I say Christmas is when Europe/US will see GT5. I can't comment about Japan because im unfamiliar with their culture and not sure if what I say above applies to Japan/Asia.

US & Europe Summer is our winter. But then again, most of the market is in EU & US. They don't really care about Australia.

It will most likely be released in Japan first so maybe September-October. Then Worldwide around Christmas.

That's a looong time to wait :(

Indeed and I apologise for not mentioning that. As that is the case then it seems plausible that GT5 will be released in the summer for Asia/Australia, Autumn Europe/US.

Vapourware is an overused term, primarily by people who have little to no patience. I imagine Jalopnik is being ironic, well I hope so anyway. :scared:

They've already nailed their colours to the mast on this one.

To be fair, there isn't really another mast for them to nail their colours to. Maybe when GT5 is actually available to buy they'll jump ship.

Well, seems to confirm the rumors that GT5 was being pushed back by Sony's strategy plan to launched it simultaneously with their 3D TV's. It makes sense from a marketing point of view. And this raise some fears... and what if with the sole purpose of push 3D tv's sales as high as possible, sony decided to release EXCLUSIVELY a 3D version of the game?

In other words, if you want to play the game you would had no choice but to purchase a proper tv.

If they did that it's almost guaranteed they won't even recover a fraction of the development costs. It'd be commercial suicide.

I think GT5 will either release summer or at christmas time because they will promote the heck out of their move controller in autumn.

I'd say shortly before Christmas, but I've said that (because of Sony's "hints") for three years in a row now. I still wouldn't be surprised to see them postpone it again, or maybe just release limited copies before christmas, while 75% of customers can't see it until late February..... again.
 
At least, we've moved from TBA to december 31 at max, so it wasn't a complete loss of time.

I don't get why people haven't learned from previous games in the serious. They're always delayed, yet still people keep being optimistic...

Yes, I do. Facts, they delayed the game for nine months if it releases in december, it's plenty of time to improve any aspect and also it gives Sony the chance to promote several products along with the game.

Also, delaying again would mean no sales, and more costs in development, Sony would lose money, so the game will release this year. This isn't a war between Sony and GT fans, it's just business. ;)

Apparently MS bought Jalopnik or something releated to them so [Jalopnik] jumping ship isn't going to happen.

It's business for now, and i've not yet delivered my full declaration of war, although i've already sent my reconnaissance troops to Sony HQ to fully investigate what's going on and reviewing the options.
Hopefully we can achieve some sort of agreement, my top diplomats and legal experts are in full swing as we speak, you see i'm totally serial....;)

Why? They said it will be released this year at GDC. Whether fiscal or calendar, that's still in 2010.

But what if there is no development? There's an interview that SRD posted from some while ago. In it, Kaz said that they have a development schedule and that they will be keeping to that schedule no matter what. He finished by saying that once they complete the game, it's up to the marketing department to decide on a release.
