punk is now fashionable for stupid teenagers. around 1999 the really ****ty skaterpunk bands began to suck even more. now there are "punk" boybands. its hilarious how the music industry works. if there is a really crappy band that a label thinks image will sell, they make them records and music videos and make them into stars.

blink 182 has always sucked. they tried to sell out with dude ranch but they werent succsesful. then the next album really got them onto mtv and ****. I dont know if thats even called selling out becasue theyve always been ****ty, and im sure making it big and having screaming 13 year old girls at their shows were always in their plans.

I used to listen to a lot of punk. Now I just listen to what i think sounds good. i dont really know what about punk appeals to most people. most of it is just noise. and if you are a suburban teenager dressing in your stupid punk gear bought at your local hot topic store by your mommy, you are not rebelling against ****. get a life.

I still listen to AFI, dropkick murphys, bad religion and some rancid because there music is still great. in addition I listen to the roots and jurassic 5. other than that I dont listen to much music because I dont have many opportunities to really hear what is good.

ha! so true advanR. i don't get this whole thing about punk being "in". all of a sudden mtv starts to air some music under the image of "punk rock" and every stupid sad kid who watches the channel buys it and thinks they are rebelling against something...i wonder if they ever stopped to think "why would mtv (super large capitalist corporation) ever air anything that would promote anti-establishmentarianism?". but no, the average population is too stupid to even do that...i wonder when mtv will get sick of this whole "punk rock" image being the "in" thing and move onto something else...maybe next they'll try to get teenagers to dress up in zoot suits and listen to swing or lose their drumsticks for brushes and electric basses for double basses and get everyone into jazz. or something stupid like that. basically what i'm trying to say is...punk would not be on mtv...as a matter of fact...anything that is good music would not be on mtv...and anyone who thinks they're listening to punk on mtv is gravely mistaken.
btw, AFI rule.

Well we can all thank Blink for bringing in the crap that's out today. I like Box Car Racer more than Blink, they have more of a "metal" edge too them then Blink ever will. Blink's older stuff was good like Dammit, but they sold out when What's My Age Again came out on video.

They're tons of little preppy ass kids at my school that think Blink and Good Charlotte is the best thing ever to happen to rock music. They need to be slapped and listen to some Anti-Flag, Black Flag, Rancid, and Sex Pistols. They should even listen to Nirvana's first and third albums (Bleach and Incesticide), that is true punk/grunge music at it's best.

I am pissed too see the crap that floats the airwaves now. I use to be into bands that have the metal/hip-hop sound, but I'm slowly getting away from that. I'm going back to true rock like Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, Beatles, back in the old days when music was good.

I'm still waiting for the next Nirvana who knows if that will happen anytime soon.

And what about Avril Lavine(sp?)? She is the worst damn thing I have ever seen in my entire life. One day 3 girls in my school go from preps to thinking they skateboard. Give me a break, be yourself not somebody you want to act like. :banghead:

Just my .02

true true.

people these days are looking for an image. go watch slc punk because that movie explains my point very well. people go through stages. hopefully when they are of the age for college they will grow out of it, but sometimes they still pretend they are something they arent after that. in SLC he actually does some punk stuff, instead of going to school everyday like these ****s at my school and everyone elses.

I have a hard time finding good music to listen to, but I have been listening to stuff like the roots and jurassic five lately. I hate commercial rap, but love this stuff. not like the regular mtv BS at all. Both groups have just released new cds so I will check those out.
