Body modding, custom tuning and GT5...

As long as the car does not look like a ricer (saw a couple today to some very nice cars :( died a little inside :guilty: ) with actual functional body upgrades then im good

Where was it ever stated as fact that change meant modifying the parameters of existing wheels? It's not 100% clear-cut but it's more probable than your idle speculation that change means two different things. The only thing 100% confirmed is that we won't know the truth until someone shows the wheel change options or we have the game ourselves.

Actually you're right, I've just re-read it and I see what you mean.

I thought the first time it said change it was talking about changing the parameters of the existing wheel like diameter or width. So I was assuming that the second change was also referring to that. However reading it again (when im awake, unlike last night when i was half asleep) its more likely that it does actually mean you can have more than one set of rims for a car and change them here.

I still wonder why they would have the menu entry in place when the player gets to this screen in a standard car, if nothing can be done under "change wheels". Should be removed or grayed.

It did matter in gt3 and gt4.

To see how inaccurate the spool up time/noise was in GT4 simply go to rear view in bumper cam when at full throttle (when driving) and then back to looking forwards, you will hear the turbo spool up again even though the throttle hasn't been released.

So, it looks like the bit in the menu where it says "Some cars cannot be race modified" it means 98.5% cannot be race modified... Bravo!

If this is true, it's an insult to call it a feature. You could probably play this game for TENS of hours and attempt to race modify every car you acquire, and end up thinking the feature is completely broken.

I was thinking the RM models are cars you can buy already race modified. You can also race modify cars yourself which are cars not in the car list listed as RM.

It's been covered. It's possible, though unlikely; the Acura dealership showed a single car, not two purchasable ones. So unless all the other RM cars are indeed purchasable (and we just haven't seen their dealerships yet) and the NSX is a prize car that isn't listed in the dealer... RM means exactly what we all think it does.

Now that is just pathetic. 👎

Im going to go out on a limb and say that those rm cars are the new "lm edition" race cars that we have seen in previous GT's being added to the series.

haha maybe you can purchace them... but then they will just appear in the trunk of your car or by the pitts during a race....just there to mock you.

I agree. i reckon it kind of hinges on the truth behind the whole standard/premium wheel drama. if it is that hard to implement changes to standard wheels then surely it is just as hard for other mods. but i think pd would question putting a feature in for so few cars, heres for hoping.

guys ive been following this for some time now, thought id sign up and have my say.
I think the changing wheel option on a standard model car means if the car is standard i.e not lowered or perfomance enhanced. IF you cant change wheels on a standard model then you surely cant improve perfomance and lower it etc or cant put racing tyres on (slightly bigger wheels when this mod was applied on gt4) I suppose we'll all find out on the 24th but i still think this might be the case.

As mentioned above i hope the leaked videos are not of the final product, maybe a beta test....

Also does anyone know what the P/S stands for as my ek9 is on there and Im happy right now :)

Peace

Only if we can get a video of some one attempting to race modify a car that is not on that rm list. Even try a standard car. IF standard cars can be race modded, I would try the JZA80 Supra first as it would be bound to have the option. Hopefully someone comes out soon from playing the game nonstop in fetal position from advanced excitement and posts a video

I hope we have a nice set of wheels, like more wheels than we've ever had before, if they are lacking in wheels ill be disappointed.

In fact more importantly, something that would be devistating is if we cannot change the witdh of our wheels let alone the wheels size.

But they would have to be so stupid to not implement this feature, every other feature they failed to give us had a reason behind it, but this would have no excuse.

Here is a list of the cars that are full race modified.
Not as many as I hoped for.

Total 15

Premiums

# Lexus IS F RM '07
Is it safe to assume this is the IS-F Kaz used in the 24hr of the 'Ring?
Also I was expecting that car's big brother in the 24hr race the LF-A in Gazoo livery

Someone who doubts it...please explain the phrase

"purchase new wheels or change your existing set"

Do you believe that to be the same thing, if so, why would it have both those statements. Why not "Change your wheels" or "purchase new wheels" but not both? It includes both, because both options are available for "Premium" cars, but purchasing new wheels is the only choice for "Standard" cars. It's pretty easy to logically understand. I can't believe you guys think it won't be available. You guys probably believe the game will be available in 2011 as well, but not 2010. :dunce:

+1

What others are implying is that the word "Change" in the first sentence has a different meaning than the word "Change" in the last part. Why on earth would they apply two different meanings in the same paragraph for the word "Change".

The first part says buy new OR Change (Alter). ---- That is the meaning I get out of that.

Last part says Standard Cars wheels can not be Change (Altered). ---Same meaning as the first part. Not "Changed" as you are stuck with the OME and can't do anything about that.

So, I cast my vote that you can buy new wheels for the Standard Cars.

^I agree whit you 👍

If you have bought more than one set of rims for your car you can "Change your existing set" :sly:

According to the car list the R32 and R33 Skyline GT-R are considered standard spec models....

So I guess mods are in for standards :)
And they also have visible drivers in them

R32 with exhaust upgrade and rims

R33 with big wing and rims

R33 with all the above, plus carbon bonnet with bonnet pins etc

Does it mean we can buy external mods parts according to these pictures? Or are they just pre-tuned cars by Gran Turismo? Normally, the R33's front bumper lips supposed to be black just like this one.

Those three skyline's are premium.

Does it mean we can change external body parts(bumper, sideskirt, hood...) on premium cars?

All the GT5 tuning option videos are deleted.

Its not exactly know at the moment, al i know for shore is carbon hoods and color change's. There was a body kit icon but there are no video's out of it.

Don't make much sense to throw slicks on Stock wheels for Standard cars. Maybe it's something they are saving for GT6, but it doesn't make sense to have Standard cars with factory wheels and just changing the compound rubber on them. It's a racing game. When I'm at the race track in real life, I rarely see guys with stock wheels and slicks on them. Heck, in real life it's difficult to find a set of slicks for your factory wheels.

Since you get a new paint color with every car that you win (and can therefore paint other cars with it) do you think that the racecar liveries will count as "paints"?
