"Colorful - Collect 256 paint colors"

Not enough for you?

Where in my post did I say anything about a lack of color choices? No where. You missed the point completely.

In order to collect those 256 colors, I have to win/buy 256 cars with different colors, then, if I use one of those 256 colors, I lose it, and have to then re-win/re-buy a car with that same color. So in order to paint two different cars the same color, I will need two others cars just for their color.

This set up is entirely flawed, pure and simple.

I rather have real paint colors than that. Just my opinion.

Real paint colors? I was unaware that GT5 simulated surface preparation, base coats, pigment mixing, coat thickness, clear coats, and polishing. All of which determine how the paint looks on a car.

What you get in GT5 is a color with a name, that's it. If you take away the name, it's still the same color (hue). Hence, a color rainbow would yield exactly the same results. But again, not the problem; see above reply.

I took notice of the people who enjoyed the NFS style of modification, even the bodyskulpting, and that number is very few. On the other hand, there are a lot of people knocking the NFS system, and I'm sure Mr Realism Yamauchi is the same way. You don't need to worry. ;)

Yeah I hope so. All these people keep whining about colors and stuff, just makes me nervous...hehee. Can't water down GT, that would be blasphemy.

referring to the original post.

Forza 3 did a great job of letting you create liveries and full car designs, they also integrated these into the 'store front' feature where people could either buy 'vinyl designs' or full car designs off other users. it doesn't detract from GT5 being the real racing simulator, after all, GT5 has a drift feature and when was the last time you saw a drift car without a shocking design? when was the las time you saw a WRc car on TV without sponsor vinyl's on it? etc. etc. imagine being able to take your standard Evo III and turn it into a fully fire breathing dirt stage destroyer complete with an epic design to match.

The vette is all yellow. The side is washed out from the light. The benz looks like it might have a CF hood but it could be shadows, and a front lip spoiler. The wing is your typical GT wing. I think the benz displays the extent of GT5 super evolved customization.

I think you better take a better look at the video. I just seen some of the same clips while watching SPEEDTV. Can I say you just put you foot in your mouth.

the vette and camaro from that clip and from the intro are the race modded models, which can only be done to fifteen cars.

Actually they do, they get the real color codes from the manufacturers for every Make or model...and they spend alot of time testing how it looks on differnt tvs to get it just right...very anal stuff...as we've come to expect, youre not getting Red, its Rosso Corsa...👍

However id onta gree with the "one use" items,. or even haveing to collect colors, its a pain, lets say you buy a standard car, want to paint it cuz the color is pug fugly, you need to buy another car just to change the paint???

You can buy exhausts and intakes and carbon fibre crap but you cant purchase a can of paint? I dont really care for the trophy either, but come on, R mods for 15 cars, minimal parts for a few dozen and hundreds cant even get the color you choose, and its not even cheap, 2000 cr, rims are 5000 and super limited choice.

OK you guys just got lost BIG time. If you look at the Vett you'll see three color not two as I stated before. The front have half on the Vett is Yellow with a center black line coming from the corner panel to the begging of the rear hatch going aft then you'll see the white rear half. I'm going to take a still then post it.

( Sorry if of topic had to prove a point)

Because I said the car was yellow or cause you're confusing RM cars with normal cars?

You got the whole color of the car wrong for one.

( For new members) Before you make a post make sure you read the whole thread or a least read up on the whole conversation. I've been warned by the MOD's in the past. So I'm warning you now before they do. You really don't want to get under their skin.

You'll see that it's three colors, Yellow front half, Black center area and white.

( Sorry I couldn't post it last night, Family first)
Back on topic though.. You can download the intro video now or you can what until you get a copy. Take a closer look at the video and you see what I'm talking about, play it in slow mo.

Sprinkling what I gathered from my copy...

- You won't be able to "rice" any car. The only moddable car in my garage right now is a '97 Civic Type R. The only body parts available are a small front blade, and a barely bigger than stock wing. Even the Race Mod is quite far from what NFS (or Shift) would do. Openings are a bit wider, aero parts a bit bigger, wheel arches are a tad wider. The bonnet is different, as are windows and windshield. You won't make a Pikes Peak Escudo out of a Suzuki Cervo, not in this game.

- Changing the exhaust does indeed change the car's note, and actually a lot when the racing part is attached.

- If you buy parts without installing them in your car, they will join your inventory (like paint colours) and will become general purpose parts, attachable to any car in your garage, or given to friends. Once an inventory part is "attached" to a car, it will only be available to that car (or another copy of the same car of yours) ; "attached" parts can't be given any more, unless you give away the car itself (I suppose).

- You earn horns !

Oh, I hope you can earn the "AWOOOGA" horn!

in the video from the sound thread with the black nissan,

the guy said, when you take a civic, you have an another choice as if you take a Audi

sry but that is very bad i think

After the part is in your inventory it can only be added to one car or a number of cars?

I’ve got something to share with you. I found out the body kits will be only be available to specific premium cars. Here’s a hint for you all, not all the premium cars are listed in the main car list. Some of them are in the used car dealer ship as well which aren’t listed. You’ll find some rare cars in there which will be premium. I haven’t been told how often the used car list changes, I’m not sure if it will be a 16 week turn cycle like in GT4. When you buy a used car it’s best to rebuild the engine before anything else.

Racing Modifications

Perform various racing modifications, such as making your car more lightweight and fitting a roll cage.

Overhaul Engine

Rebuild an engine that has been worn down due to extended driving in order to restore it to its full potential.

I think an editor that lets you customise your car as you wish would be a great addition. It isn't something I would be interested in spending a lot of time with but I know people who do like to spend time customising their cars and have seen some incredible creations for Forza.

One of the better uses I have seen is when a group creates team stickers and sometimes a common paint scheme for any member of the team or group that wishes to add it. This form of identification not only looks great but it adds to the community element. I have also seen it used effectively for promotion.

I'm not interested in neons or other forms of bling but I think that things like wheels paint and stickers should be customisable.

As for modifications in my dream game you would be able to do engine swaps and modify your car just as you would in real life, one of my gripes about sims is that you cant simulate the modifications you can do in real life such as putting a larger engine in a car or changing it's drive type from 4WD to RWD which are both modifications I have performed in real life. The problem is it would become very complicated and difficult to create a sim for a console that realistically modelled the performance effects these changes make. To achieve this and still achieve great physics that simulate what would happen in real life would be an epic task, as much as I want this right now I cant see something like this being achieved for years and maybe never on a console.

The other consideration is what is more important, realistic physics or the fun of modification, if I fell into the later I would be buying an x-box and not GT5. That said there is only one good reason I can think of to deprive people of customising the aesthetics of their cars the same way Forza allows as it wouldn't have an impact on physics. I can understand why it hasn't been implemented yet but the only reason to not add it to the game later would be to keep code as efficient as possible due to everything else that goes into getting this game to work on a limited console.

Considering that wheels are not able to be changed on standard cars and that paint is so restricted in the game it seems to me that PD are against user customisation and there is no hope of ever seeing a patch that would allow us to create a more personalised car. That's a shame IMO and a disappointment for the online community.

I must agree with a lot of people above regarding the paint. It is just ridiculous to buy a car just for a specific paint color. I wold have much preferred it if we could keep the paint or at least have a paint shop.

There is a paint shop.
Please stay on subject this in not the Paint Shop thread. If you keep going of subject this thread may be closed to due it's none relevance.

I feel like I read somewhere that there is no racing or big brake upgrade as a tuning option. Can anyone confirm that I am wrong?

Yes, can someone please confirm that there is no brake upgrade option in the tuning shop? The only reason I can see for them leaving it out is that they wanted them to be visible on the car and then they couldn't end up doing that so they left it out... or left it out for standard cars like wheel changes. Either would suck:ouch:

Upgrading brakes is one of the most important upgrades you can do to a track car after tyres.

Are there really only nine custom wheels to choose from? Hopefully they change over time?

Did you just try to change the wheels for one car? I was excited to install some Volk TE37s on my Honda Civic Type-R(EK)(only premium car I have right now). Unfortunetly they didn't offer me any Rays Eng. rims. So I just slapped some BBSes that also looked good on it. I still hope those aren't all the rims there are cause I'm pretty sure I saw somebody purchase Volks on a youtube vid.

Don't worry. The rims cycle around, so you won't see the same rims twice.

Oh. Cool cool. Do you know if I'm gonna be able to change the rims on my Honda Civic more than once? I heard somewhere that its not possible, which would suck.(sorry for the questions, can you guys believe my t.v blew up while I was playing. And I just got the game! =( I won't play it in a couple of days' til I get a new t.v. lol)

Why does everything cycle? Can't they just manage it better with sub menus etc or have popular wheels then a sub menu for more models.

Same deal with used cars... i get why it happens there, but there should be more categories so that it's easier to find a car of the type/era you want.

+1 like in GT4 with the organized rims by make, and like in GT1 with the used car dealerships! Boy, I don't like to believe. But PD sure is going backwards instead of forward.

I think it's really horrid that after 5 years we don't have a livery editor. I mean I understand that no one want's ricer NFS type things in this game however comparing it to FM3 the user generated content from their livery editor and being able to select multiple rims etc makes for a better community and the contests and prizes given away are second to none. With all the tuners in this game it would be interesting to see some of the replicas etc. that could be created if GT5 had an editor. Honestly I think after 5 years in development the customization should have had more to it and the inability to switch rims on the standard cars is ridiculous considering these are the same cars that appeared in GT4 for the most part and you had that option there.

Ugh, bought an S15 Spec-R yesterday. A car that has about a million aftermarket aero parts for it (especially functional ones, I don't want ricer-kits of course).

All I could choose from was a front lip, and two rear wings. Nothing else :/

And not being able to buy bigger wheels? Ridiculous.
