Bored of GT5? I got the solution..

I think his main point was trying to give people a different perspective of the game. It seems like a lot of peoples complaints about the game is that there aren't enough "forced" events like A-Spec races. I played GT4 over about a 3 year span, probably only 4-5 months combined of that were doing A-Spec events or manufacturer races or license tests. The rest of the time was spent driving and racing! I didn't buy GT5 because I hoped there would be lots of events that would pay me XP and Credits. I bought GT5 with the hopes that it would allow me to have a very realistic driving experience right in my living room. And it does that incredibly well!

To the specific point of the OP; I'm a racing junkie and I watch almost any form of racing or racing/driving related program I can find (as long as it doesn't go in circles or short, straight lines). When I watch an FIA Touring Car race from Monza or a Grand Am race from Laguna Seca I think to myself "Man, I WISH I could have the chance to do that!". Well, I don't live very close to either of those places and can't afford a race car, but I can get a fairly similar experience by hoping on GT5 and hooking up my G27!

The difference between people like me and the people who complain is that we get just as much fun from driving/racing in GT5 whether we get credits/xp or not. For us it's not about getting paid or moving up to the next experience level, it's about sitting down behind our wheels and forgetting that we're sitting in our living rooms, it's about driving the cars and learning the tracks. And as far as I'm concerned it will take me YEARS before I feel like I've experienced everything this game has to offer. Throw in online play with GTP members or leagues and the Course Maker, well I've played GT5 every day since release except for 3 and I feel like I'm just scratching the surface.

GT5 can be as incredible or as lame as you allow it to be. It's about you, not the game.

👍

Feeling exactly the same, although I also enjoy watching "circle" and "straight line" (NASCAR/Drag Racing) races. ;)

stigshero Now that is a Post and a Half .O like this thread I feel exactly the same When watching real life races or Top Gear All I want to do afterwards is Drive GT5 .I really love the game and unlike others I don't pick on stuff that isn't in but stuff that is 👍

and surely it would just be a simple divider and multiplier, for instance for the sake of round numbers the defualt XP for a race is 10000 and if P1 has a car with 400PP and P2 has a car with 600PP.

If P1 wins then he as 1.5x less PP so recieves 1.5x more XP - 10000x1.5 = 15000

If P2 wins then he has 1.5x more PP so rcieves 1.5x less XP - 10000÷1.5 = 6667 (rounded to the nearest whole number)

I was thinking somewhere along these lines:

Take the mean average PP of the opponent cars (AI).
Divide this by the PP of your own car (I), and multiply the result by itself to get a 'multiplier'.

Then apply the multiplier to the base score for that race. So if you picked a car that has 300PP, and the average of your opponents is 250PP, then your multiplier would be 0.69, so you would only get 69% of the base reward for that race. The other 31% could be called a 'fine'.

If you picked a car that has 300PP, and the average of your opponents is 400PP, your multiplier would be 1.77, so you would win the base reward, plus an additional 77% 'bonus'.

Maybe a total of your fines and bonus could be on your profile, and with a bit of tweaking be used to calculate a skill level, but I think thats enough algebra for today.

Did you even READ the OP?

He poses the question of what you do to inspire yourself to play GT5 if you get bored. He watches race videos. I watch Top Gear. Others visit GTPlanet.

Yes, this is related to GT5...
Maybe you need to read the OP.
Post vids of real races to get inspired and make you wanna play again.

This is a thread of nothing but racing videos, something we already have several threads for in Cars In General.

Let the mods decide Mclaren. The only thing we can do is discuss what the OP wants to talk about.

Let the mods decide what? There is no deciding, it's there in black and white.

The thread title is "Got the solution." Not got a solution... the as in the only one.

Then the OP states:

Screw duping, screw XP grinding. Just remember how much fun the racing, or simply the driving is. Weather you prefer online or off.

First it's exactly what he said - he is telling you what to do, not asking you at all what you like to do.

Then he clarifies by making sure to reject other options entirely and directly.

There isn't really any wiggle room here...

Wow a silly topic gets this blown out of proportion? I still stand by what I said, let the mods decide if this thread should be moved or let it be.

I missed that it was wavetool and not you that he first responded to... context change makes my last post a little too pointy... sorry...

I like it here... GT5 certainly needs all the help it can GET to inspire people to try and race again (rather than 'drive'!)

Mind you, watching a whole bunch of cars going round at breakneck speed, inches from each other doesn't exactly help me get inspired about GT5 offline (online is another matter altogether) and it's idiotic AI...

WARNING!
This video is very loud!

This is a good idea, however, using videos involving cars and tracks that are in GT5 results in more fun.

Absolutely. I've become a bit bored of it now. I haven't played the last couple of seasonal events (apart from the F1 one) because they are too easy. I still play split screen when my friends come round, but even that is becomming a bit frustrating because I have 600 cars and can only use my favourite 100. Going back into GT Life to change my favourites is too much hassle. I'll probably stop playing split screen until they fix that. Personally, the main other thing that needs to be added, is a PP based reward system. So if you pick a car that is evenly matched to your opponents then you win loads of XP and credits. If you pick a really fast car so its not an even race, then you win hardly anything. This method could also be used to create some kind of gamer rating which gives you a skill level that can go up and down. This would give winning the races some meaning.

Umm, I'm not sure what game you're playing, but since the 1.06 update you can use all of your cars, not just your favorites, online. And there is also a PP system in the online races in addition to the previous hp/weight/tire restrictions. I take it your PS3 hasn't been hooked up to the internet in awhile?

I thought that the solution to being bored of GT5 was to just play something else. :indiff: Is it really the only game you kids play anymore?

You can online, but I'm talking about split screen mode, and all other 'arcade' modes.
