FITT: Old vs New Hatchback Challenge Reviews
By @brian wolf :

@Bowtie-muscle -Civic 1500 3 door and Type R (EP)
1500 3 door Lap time: 1:58.464 DC: 8
Type R Lap time: 1:53.118 DC: 8.5
Impression of tunes;
Old : I had to get the weight transfer just right to get the entry rotation I wanted and not understeer through mid corner. Didn`t spoil the drive though.
New : Better than the old tune An easy drive with consistant laps. Well done.

By @coryclifford :

Bowtie
450 Civic - 1:52.365 - I found myself waiting for the front end to transition (braking to turn in to power out). Gearing seems wrong as I think my notes say, and I was only at the top of 5th? Wheel goes light very quickly at corner entry, and the rear never steps out or actually seems to come around.
DC: 8.3
400 Civic - 1:57.712 - Good diff settings, comes off the brakes good (which really does matter at Monaco), gearing seemed off and 10/1 damper setting front feels sluggish but it's a safe feeling car.
DC: 8.4

By @fordracer :

bowtie-muscle
Honda Civic '83 2:00.635
DP 8.6
Good trans. Good suspension.

Honda Civic Type -R '08 1:55.39
DP 8.5
So, this must be the one you were unhappy with. Lots of tire spin. Front end has this nasty grip then release deal going. Still fast....just not comfortable.

By @Otaliema :

@Bowtie-muscle -Civic 1500 3 door and Type R (EP)
1500 3 door Lap time:2:01.008 DC:7
Type R Lap time:1:54.100 DC:8.2
Combined;3:55.108

Impression of tunes;
1500 3 Door; All over the place, it didn’t want to break or turn in well, low exit grip. But it responded very well to left foot braking and the transmission was very well balanced.

Type R;Low exit grip and long braking. Once I adjusted for these factors it became a very quick car, the transmission was maybe a tad long but that kept the wheel spin down helping out acceleration a great deal. Entry-mid corner was great but the understeer at exit really slowed it down.

By @Soren Jacquet :

Tuner @Bowtie-muscle car honda Civic 1500 3door 25i ´83
best lap time : 1:58.313
DC 8

I feel the handling could be a ittle smoother, understeer and the back end of the car likes to try to over take the car by hard breaking.

Car Honda Type (EP) ´04
Best lap time 1:52.895
DC 9.8

very good acceleration little understeering. breaks works realy fine. and the gearbox Are (after my opinon) spot on

RESULTS:

Lap time average - 15th for the '83(out of 17 :grumpy:)
Lap time average - 1st for the '04
Overall finish - 3rd!!

DC - '83 Civic 13th (out of 17)
DC - '04 Civic 5th
Overall DC finish - 8th

I think 3rd gear looks better with 1630 instead of 1700 but it could be that you did it on purpos...

I have updated all (most anyway) 515pp tunes to 525pp.

Elise '11 and GT 86 (Version II) have both been updated from 480pp to 500pp.

Will be working on rearranging the tunes list, dividing them up to make them easier to find, for example, 500pp and 525pp will be separated. AS will 550pp and 575pp.

I just updated your tunes in my garage as well,
i made them as new tunes,

why not publish them again and leave the old tunes as they are
and just mention in the new published tune that it is an update,
in some tunes you changed more than just the power...

in the op you could list them both with the links,

it could be a bit less of a puzzle for me to keep your tunes up to date in my garage,
and i like to keep the old tunes as well, they also have a charme...

do you have a list of the tunes you updated the past weeks? could you list them ?
(only if it is easy for you to do...) then i can check if i did not miss anything...

i see in that you editied most of your tunes in april,
was it only cosmetical or also the content?

just aan idea... no big deal...

thank you for all the work and time you spend in this,
you are one of the reasons why gt6 is still very much fun for me to play...
and wil be until one day gt7 will come...

Most were just a cosmetic update, the tunes where "the tune itself" got updated, were the 515pp Subarus and Evos. They were upgraded to 525pp. Was trying to clean up the tune list, still need to, there were only a few. Still have original written down, maybe I will repost the 515pp tunes.

you know,

i enjoy driving a tune, even sometimes racing it,
and the 515 and 525 are really different...
so i think it is a good idea to separate them...

i have your old 515 tunes, just tell me if you want them...

(at a price! a mazda 500 rx tune!
it is a cheat car but so much fun,
and there are not many tunes for it out there,
i hope one day that it will be the tune of the month
so there will be lots of super tunes for it,
like the s7 some weeks ago...
there a dream for me came true)

Yes they are different, surprising what 10pp does for some cars.

As for the Mazda, I will keep that suggestion in mind:tup:, and just so you know, I have used every one that I have received so far. Your dream may come true sooner than you think;)

After torturing my friends here on the planet for months with a computer that likes to multi post, I think I FINALLY got it worked out.:dunce:

Now after not posting tunes for a bit, I might be able to get a few more posted in the next few days. Also have lap times for all 500pp cars at Midfield to post.

It is one of the cars I have been meaning to get to But have not had a chance yet. Will see if I can find time to try over the next few days. But, it may be a week or so.

Actually, it sounds like a good and fun idea.

But, there are 2 issues to deal with.
1. Kind of was done already, over a year ago. If you look in the Records and Archives thread, it was the first GT6 Challenge. Not a trans am challenge but those cars were used.

2. PD gave some of them more grip than the others. C3 and Cuda 440 would have little chance unless the cars got tested and the rules somehow evened them up.

I did have a similar thought at one time, but the Mach 1 is really good as is the Z28 compared to the others and never went too far with it. It could be done again but would take some work to make it happen.

American Muscle cars = blue, white or black
German cars = silver
Italian = red
Jags and Astons = British Racing Green?

here is my color coding,

another concept but very useful in list view:

- praiano - matte red
- motor city hami - spirited green metallic
- exeter - matte green
- bowtie-muscle - matte orange (looks great!)
- cars with multiple tunes - matte jellow
- stock - matte gray
- little duckpond - matte brown
- misc - matte black

Now that is a great idea. As for my tunes, I'm short matte orange would look fantastic on them. I sometimes paint them orange while tuning before giving a fresh paint job just before I post. 👍

and i go a step beyond,

cx,sx,rx tires: white rims

different tunes (updates) by same tuner: colored rims

all others: black rims

and no,
that is not nerdy,
that is normal!

and why?

because it is possible!

Was unsure of that tune in the hands of others, appreciate the feedback. Might try that one myself, if I get the chance. Haven't done the seasonal yet. But I will ;)
