I'm thinking Kimi is loaded up with fuel. Possibly on a 1 stopper. The car was so heavy it was worse under braking than he expected, and after he lost time locking up the brakes, it was too heavy for him to do anything other than match Alonso's final two sectors.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it!

He stuck it on pole in Monza with fuel for a 1 stopper.

And guess what, Toyota had their first engine problem of 2005. Almost a trouble free year.

I haven't seen a mistake like that by Kimi since early this season. I have to agree with you blake that he is ultra heavy thus the balance issue under braking. Why change the strategy that has worked so well for him most of the season. Depending on how his front tires are after that lock-up (they didn't show any signs of flat spots, visable at least) Kimi should be able to get in the top 3 after the first round of stops, if he doesn't do it before that. Getting around Fisi and JPM on track will be tough though.

Should make the race more interesting tomorrow. Alonso is driving smooth!

Unless Fisi borks the start and falls ebhind Kimi, he'll probably be slowing the field down to let Alonso get a nice cushion. :grumpy:

Showers likely last I read. But I dunno whether that means it IS going to rain, or there's a small chance it could rain ...

how do you know it's summer in Brazil?

The rain is warm

It doesn´t rain that much, it´s just this month. Spring just started so the weather should get better now. :)

But I hope it rains today. :D

Rumpour has it that nelson picquet will have a drive in F1 2007 for williams or mclaren.
Junior, Nelson Piquet Jr.

Nelson Piquet, two times F1 champion retired a long time ago. But he´s a good friend of Frank Williams, so I wouldn't doubt Nelsinho starting on a top team in F1.

Edit: Nelson Piquet won three F1 titles actually. Emerson Fittipaldi won two, my bad.

My mum knew about that. :scared:

It rained last night and early morning, and it's clear for the start. But, there are puddles on the ground. It should make for an interesting first few laps.

Does anyone else think the McLarens sound like owl torture as they go past?

They have a weird "hoooooo" note. With my eyes closed, even with Martin Brundle and James "Clueless" Allen talking, I can pick a McLaren over any other car.

there is talk honda may supply minardi engines next year in order to get sato a drive in one of the cars. i hope they do as not only do i want sato to drive next year, honda having another 2 cars to test with would be great.

shockingly monteiro has his first dnf this race.

and mr eyebrows having the time of his life... he should have danced a jig when he put the trophy on his head.

And good call from McLaren not changing positions between Kimi and Montoya, but I bet if something happened to Alonso they would.

Schumacher who?

Here's a question: If McLaren wins the constructors championship (as they probably will), do they get #2 and #3 on their cars, with the second Renault wearing #4? I seem to recall that's the way it works, but I'm not sure.

Fernando #1, of course!

I used to live in Venezuela, so I know what those rainstorms are like, and although you could get three months without a drop of rain, whenever it rained, it damn right poured!

I think you need to get out more. :)

There's wasps and tulips out there. Bugger that for a lark.

kylenhat... It goes by top driver positioning. The top driver's team, whichever team he drives for next year (in this case Renault), gets cars 1 and 2. The next top driver, who isn't driving for that team, gets cars 3 and 4 for his team next year (in this case McLaren). The next top driver, who isn't driving for either of these teams, gets cars 5 and 6 for his team next year (in this case probably Ferrari). And so on.

This is why Arrows got 1 and 2 in 1997 - because Damon Hill won the 1996 Driver's Championship and took #1 and #2 with him.
