DLC is the same, regardless of version (as it's apparently already on the game disc). It's just that MS paid IW to ensure XBL got the DLC a month before PSN.

yay! i love to pay more for what i already have 👍

:irked:

This game is reaching cookie cutter excessiveness. SMG + Marathon + Lightweight + Commando and 75% of the time they just keep running at you to knife you instead of shooting. They don't get great KDs but they always seem to get you at least once and screw up a kill streak. It is really making me prefer maps like Derail and Wasteland because it forces these guys that just run every where to possibly think about cover.

I think I may just need to play later at night when all the school kids are in bed because mommy and daddy told them to.

/rant

i use that combo for rushing, that's more so i can support my suicidal tendencies to want to win. specially when you can run in from the back and plant a bomb in the grass before the defenders know your even there.

I use the ump silenced, marathon pro, lightweight pro, and ninja pro as my rush class, and im damn good at rushing. I don't use commando though, way too loud and I can't hear anyone over all the potato chip bags I am running/walking on. I use the rushing class allot more than any other class, it works for me though. I stay in the other teams face and get them really annoyed and when people get upset they don't play as well. My K/D is never negative either, well of course there are some games it is, that just can't be helped. I hope the DLC isn't over 900 MS points because I only have 910!

Lightweight also enables you to climb faster, coldblooded really isn't needed on my rush class because I run uav, counter uav, and pred missle. I always have counter uav up and uav on for the entire team with that class, its much needed to have uav and counter on a rush class.

Its only a 7% increase. I don't notice it that much.

8 to 10% actually. Which means if it takes you half a minute to get somewhere, you'll get there 4 seconds or so sooner. And 4 seconds is a lot in this game.

I think I am seeing where GT was getting on about the UMP though. It makes the other SMGs nearly obsolete in its accuracy and power, since it can compete with the SCAR in both regards, just with a larger clip. Compare it to the Vector or MP5 and it just dominates. Part of this bitterness is likely stimming from in the last few games I've played the only thing I've been getting killed by is OMA Danger Close M203s and people running around with UMPs.

aim down the sites faster after sprinting, which is valuable for a rush class also, there.....fixed....

i used the default ump class when i started online play. but, i personally prefer the p90. i ran around in random paths and it just drops what i aim at.

i *hate* (yes it needed to be bolded) rapid fire though. i used one clip to kill one guy with the vector :|

also, using the spas now makes me wonder why i didnt use it sooner.

as much as i hate to admit, i think im going to drop my f2000 in favor of the m4 combo. the f2000 just has way too much recoil in most situations :(

Marathon pro lets you climb faster. I use CB on almost all my classes just because someone is always calling in a UAV. I hate getting caught behind them trying to flank. I also hate air support. Its win-win.

Incorrect.

http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Lightweight

It appears I read it before it was modified. Figures.

In core, the UAV's don't bother me too much as half their team will know I am behind them thanks to killcams, it is just a matter of time before you get bum rushed.

Air Support is nice to avoid but if I have some of the regulars with me, it gets shot down pretty fast.

RPD is good to me(in response to breakpoint). Adequate stopping power, fire rate, good accuracy. The only tragedy with this gun for me is that it has to have the grip + FMJ to be truly effective. And I would have to sacrifice the FMJ, if I want to use the extended clip, which is very valuable to me.

After reading so much about UMP, I'm probably gonna have to give that one a shot again.

I put stopping power on the RPD and it made the gun very workable now, also have the grip. As far as the UMP goes I wouldn't use it without the silencer, the silencer seems to make it more accurate to me, plus everyone loves a ninja....

I used to use the RPD+grip as my primary class. I was using it recently to level it up (red dot sight, holo, etc) for XP and its pretty useless without grip. Also with a silencer it is horrid and won't get any kills if you go head to head.

Oh. I got my hopes up regarding the DLC.
402's Twitter
Both PS3 and PC will receive the DLC at a -- yet to be announced -- later date.
Note the "yet to be announced" - which suggests that the PS3 and PC DLC won't simply be released 30 days after XBL receives it, but a GT5-esque "near future" date. :indiff:

Guess we can blame Activision for that one?

I think it will be released a month later, he just isnt telling us yet.

He is also such a bull:censored:ter. He was telling us 2 months after the game was released that they hadnt even confirmed to themselves what was in the DLC, unbelievable. And as there probably be CoD4 maps (I think that is highly likely) it becomes more ridiculous because I have that game sitting right next to me. It is another case of paying for a slightly updated version of what you have, its just getting stupider by the day.

Back in the day, you could just make your own maps. And some people made good ones for free, and the community rejoiced!

Servers I'd play on would have over 100 maps, and you could go a couple of days without playing the same ones.

As for MW2, why can't the Vector be better? It has so much more style than the other SMGs but they made it require a billion bullets to kill someone. So at closer ranges, I just get people teleporting into me when I use it :(

They should have pulled a Counter Strike with the Knife: Two hits to the front of the body to kill, but instant kill if you hit them in the back.

Thats also a Halo, two melees to the front or a stealth from the back. That would be much better but being a knife, all your vitals are pretty much in the front. If it was more realistic, the ribs could take two and the stomach one or something. I dunno, dont care really.

That is the truth, regarding UMP. It made me swear like a sailor, die like an idiot run & gunner(not the good ones) with the red dot. As soon as I got the silencer for it, I was pwning them left & right. Some games, I was coming out with k/d closer to 10, running and gunning the whole time. And with UMP, you already feel like you have lightweight perk on. I actually had to go back into the create class to double check and make sure I didn't swap out the stoppin' powa! If I could get a extended mag for it or something(please tell me there is one!), it would be unstoppable.

On RPD, best tip I can give you guys is to let them come to you. You are vulnerable when you are on the move with that gun. So move around slowly, with care. And like Eric said, silencer never seem to work well. FMJ does make it better, and it's great for taking people out behind cover with the huge amount of ammo you get with it.

I know guys like Sweet Shop don't like hearing stuff like that, but I would be all for it. Not that it will ever happen. Since CoD days, I never liked the idea of blasting into someone with an full automatic weapon, only for the guy to come through the fire to kill you with one stab. I know it's just a (arcadey)game, and it's only my personal opinion on that, but I hate it!
Edit:

Or just don't swim through my AA12 shells to stab me.

40 penetration kills with FMJ equipped, just like every other primary weapon :p

The thing that annoys me about the UMP (and most guns in general) are its iron sights. There are very few weapons whose iron sights I like and do well with "naked" (ie no optics) - and they're all assault rifles (funny that): SCAR, FAMAS, M4 and to an extent the TAR - which is why you nearly always see me running around with a red dot on my gun, instead of something else like a silencer or FMJ.

Speaking of... I want to like the FAL. I really want to like it. But its iron sights are horrendous. When I first tried it (pre-prestige), I used it in a couple of games, and couldn't hit anything with the iron sights it has on it... :indiff:

Or do what I do and use Scavenger Pro.

But then that means no Marathon, which means no Marathon+Lightweight+Ninja+silenced UMP rush kit.

The idea is if you see a guy trying to stab you with a knife, in real, you'd make some move to avoid vitals. You use the gun to block it or something. From the back, they have easier access to you. Instead, you magically can knife someone from several feet away instantly, despite having a bazooka in your hands, and magically hit their vitals every time.

I already use Scavenger in one of the two UMP classes(the other is marathon). My problem is when I'm running & gunning, I jump into group of enemies. I suck at reloading in that situation(not that most of us are actually good at that  ), or switching weapons. I want to be able take out three guys without reloading.

I guess I'll get there eventually. I don't even have FMJ yet though.

Ahh, thanks for explaining.

With a UMP, you don't even need Scavenger Pro. The gun has enough power and bullets to get at least a dozen kills. Now the Vector on the other hand should come with 2 more clips than most guns... I love it but I can't find any way to make it seem worth using over the UMP :nervous:

Yeah, in Counter Strike, Knifing someone is the greatest form of humiliation, as it requires either completely sneaking up on them or some other trickery.

Battlefield is a step in the right direction as regards knife, the animation is quite slow and there's no huge lunge (although there is one) but more importantly you can't warp through bullets to make it happen, so you have to sneak up on them. Commando is just plain stupid, it seems impossible to stop a commando user once they hit the button no matter what you have in your hands and how many rounds you put in them and it's plain irritating. It's just another one of those things which crosses the line to far for me.

Having played a different shooter for a week ish now, you notice just how unbalanced MW2 is. Not because of connections neccessarily, or even the weapons themselves although they are often factors, but simply because of things like killstreaks which vastly reward good players so they do EVEN better and the victims just suffer and often can't enjoy themselves at all. Being against better players is hard enough, being against better players with masses of air support when you get barely any is just another level. Lets be honest here the reason why my KDR is so high, and more relevantly so much better then other CODs and shooters, isn't because I'm massively better then I have been (if anything people should be starting to improve and making my life harder as I don't play often) it's because I get so much extra support behind me.
