I finally got to use Cold Blooded, I've been waiting for that one and it's simply one of if not the best perk for a good KDR. Why? Because you can pick your fights much more rather then be forced into battle by UAVs and similarly loud weaponry. It allowed me to dominate the entire open wooded area of Derail alone in a game TDM with Stavingo on the other team for all up until the last minute or so without dying. Eventually I got amusingly killed by a guy who ran behind me whilst I was in some trees and planted a claymore on me  but I'd already dealt the damage with my streaks and such. Granted I finished on about 10-1 but in real terms thats still 900 points advantage to my team, exactly the same as would be given by the above 25-16 of sharky if it was TDM accept I gain massively from a KDR point of view.

That said for certain play styles it would be a waste but for anyone who's doing something bar run head long at the enemy, it's generally a big plus even with a loud weapon. Not to mention you won't get pwned by streak rewards so much. Obviously sometimes it won't work, depending on the game, so always keep a Stopping Power or similar set up incase. I'm now up to a very health 2.68 KDR, if anyones interested in my favourite set ups so far (I'm only rank 26) I'll post them.

The ACR is the best Assault Rifle by miles, it's so accurate for an automatic! I've just unlocked the AK-47 but it has a horrible feel compared to the one in COD4.

Oh I have a question too, are there any other benefits besides new titles and callsigns when you prestige?

Extra custom classes perhaps like W@W, but thats only good for lazy people who can't be bothered to change class before a new game, nobody really uses 5 classes in one round do they?

I'm certainly not going to prestige, I'd lose the perk which practically makes the game worthwhile for my playstyle and be stuck playing the way I don't like to again, even though it's been successful for me so far.

There's the titles and emblems, new challenges, and an extra custom class on each odd numbered prestige level. The best part though is the new challenges. A whole new category like elite and humiliation, plus ones for each weapon. They're also meant to take a while(500, 1000, 2500 kills per weapon plus a series for headshots) so you can keep chugging away at them if you don't want to prestige again. They don't reset like the other challenges do if you decide to prestige again, but there are a few in the prestige section that do reset.

On the flipside the best thing about challenges is the XP, which you don't need if you don't Prestige. I don't need a completed challenge to tell me I've done well.

I don't think I'll be doing prestige then. I like my setups and I have everything I want at the moment. The badges looks rubbish too in my opinion unlike COD4 which has awesome prestige badges.

I have just purchase MW2. If I play you online, be prepared for your "Kill" number to increase dramatically :p

If you've played previous CODs you'll be fine, I did and not half as much as some people, but it helps massively. Similarly, start on campaign to get a feel for the aiming. It's a harsh battlefield out there for new guys, very harsh.

I've really found my stride now, Cold Blooded, what a godsend! I'm up to 2.82 on the KDR and rising. Will I make it to 3? Can I keep it this high? Who knows.

This will be my first COD on the PS3...
I was planning on doing some campaign first. Hopefully it arrives before I have to go back to school :)

I wish you much luck then, there is nothing to ease you in much for what you'll come across. If you have some good players you know of in your country, I'd suggest inviting them to a party with you before diving head long into it. Failing that, use Mercenary Team Deathmatch as there's less likely hood of meeting groups of organised players.

It will be overwhelming at first, but everyone adjusts in time, some faster then others.

Thanks for the tips. I'll probably play with my mates online a bit then delve into the real world (and get blitzed )
Would I have to be fairly good to play in the weekly meet-up with the GTP guys?

I love the online in this game. Before I was just awful, always at the bottom, but after a few days, i'm good now, usually getting 4 digit scores and coming 2nd mostly wit first once in a while. I'm going to go play some more.

That. Was. Epic. Lucky.

Actually, That. Was. Setup. I seen somewhere they were talking about this clip and the person in the clip had said it was setup. They were in a party and everyone was running to the same spot every game on highrise and whoever got the shot like that first got to post it. I know that's not a for sure thing because it is the internet and all, but by the looks of it I agree, what team runs to that window and just stands all in a row?

I like watching these myself, this is my favorite one at the moment:tup:

If I ended up on the receiving end of that, I'd be.......

I got on XBL to play with my friend last night. I ranked up my (1st)prestige from 5 to I think 17, but the adjustment can be pretty tricky. It's not the playing style, level of play, or anything like that. The analog stick is so light on PS3, and is heavy on X360. When switching from one system to the other, my aim can be pretty off. Even when I'm putting up decent numbers.

Edit:

BTW: to all the GTP MW2 regulars please add me

GTP_Masicampo
I don't know when I'll be on PSN next, but feel free to add me. Or I'll try to remember to add you next time I'm on. Anybody who likes playing TDM, please feel free to add me!

I got very very annoyed this morning, I had my nuke streaks turned on and I was playing TDM on Afghan. I got my killstreak up to twenty with harrier and chopper gunner and I had been stuck in that cave for the whole match with enemies walking past me. I got 4 very hard kills by picking up another gun, a Tar 21 heartbeat. I was on the side of the cave with the computer type thing, some level 6 noob sent a noobtube in the tunnel and it blew up the computer killing me one kill from a nuke. I had never been so pissed off from a noob tube in the history of playing this game...

That was probably the first throwing knife video I ever saw, it is also one of the best.

Bummer. Sorry to hear that! I've gotten a streak long enough for a nuke just once, so I don't bother, and I never get stressed out. The latter is a lie.

I don't see the fascination with the nuke. The way people take the nuke so seriously (not necessarily directed at you Legendary) defies belief... you'd think the game centered around the Tactical Nuke. The game's called Modern Warfare 2, not Modern Nukefest 2.

Sure, the nuke is the holy grail of killstreak rewards, but is there really *that* much difference between a 24 killstreak and 25? Anything beyond 15 is somewhat of an accomplishment imo (closest I came was 14, once; I've only gone past a 10-streak twice), and any kills beyond that is just a bonus.

Would I have getting a nuke as my only goal in any given match? No. If I got one (when pigs fly!), that would simply be the icing on a ripper of a game.

What I'm getting at here, in amongst all this rambling, is surely you'd have more fun with a (for example) predator, harrier strike and chopper gunner/AC130 setup and going 30-3 than being 24-0 near the end of a match and trying desperately not to get killed so you can call in a nuke? I know it would be a million times less stressful...

In almost every match today I have gotten around a 20 kill streak and in EVERY match in my last playing session I have had a chopper gunner, I dont try to get a nuke from the start, I put the kill streak on and if I get a harrier then I will try and get a nuke. If I dont get a killstreak I wont bother. Also, I only set the nuke when I have been doing really good for the last few matches, I dont strive for it but I get annoyed when I am close.

No need to say sorry since your PSN and XBL is right there under your Name under From: on every post you make:sly:
Well, for PSN, I have three separate accounts('cause they are free!), so I think that's why he was asking.

See, I wouldn't even try for the nuke if that happened anyway. If I got a nuke, I got a nuke. If I died a few short, I still had a 20+ streak, which is pretty damn good.

If that makes sense.
