How do you adjust the scope magnification on the thermal scope?

I wasn't aware you could.

On another note, I am really getting into this game now, my KD is rising rapidly every play now that I know the maps, perks and kill streaks. I made a bit of a hash of things early on but jumped from 1.2 to 1.4 just today, aiming for 1.8 by the end of the week. The killstreaks are pivotal to this, its essential to understand your limitations to know how to get the most out of your kill streaks. when I first tried getting it right, I was a bit too ambitious with Harrier (7) Pavelow (9) Chopper gunner (11) and found getting 7 in a row with just the gun was a bit too too tricky to make it worth it. I dropped down to Predator (5) harrier (7) Pavelow (9) and things started getting much better, 5 in a row seemed regular enough and the predator made getting the harrier that bit more frequent, and thus the Pave Low.

Now I am comfortable with my Classes and strategies, I now have gone back to my previous killstreaks which allows me to get 35-5 matches regularly even in bad games I usually get at least one harrier which helps maintain the positive KD.

What really makes this game is the joining system which is far more efficient in the last game, I play with my friends all the time, and am really enjoying it. Dare I say it, even more than the last instalment.

For now while I'm learning all the maps and perks I keep my killstreak awards at 3-UAV,4-Anti UAV and 6-Tactical Airstrike. I'd say I can call in about 3 or 4 UAV's and Anti-UAV's a match so it makes for much points gain than using the 10+ killstreak awards, even though I can reach them off the gun alone.

Like they said, you can't. Sorry, what I meant was that set magnification seems to be pretty high with the thermal scope.

I might be too, though I'd just leave it at they are both very fun FPS. I'd like to call them "great", but I'm no FPS expert as CoD4 was my first online FPS, and MW2 is my second.

Dead on on the killstreak rewards. I first started the custom set up with the 5, 6, 7(Predator, Air Strike, Chopper). It worked great, so I decided to move up to 5, 7, then 9 for Pave Low. Unfortunately, with my skills, even "if" I got to the Pave Low, it was literally near the last minute of the game. I've gone back to the 5-6-7, while I still look for way to tweak it.

How accurate is their information. Reason why I ask, they are talking about exclusive map pack headstart on X360. Last thing I read from Infinity Ward seemed to have shot down any idea of X360 exclusive map pack. I've posted this info on here before, I think:

This was regarding to the pre-release rumor, but the strong reaction from IW seem to indicate that there will be no special treatment for the X360 players when it came to the map pack.
Yes you have posted that before and unfortunately you have read it a tiny bit wrong. What it means is there will be no exclusive map packs, I am fairly sure that they are still getting them two or so weeks before PS3 because MS payed that 50mil to get stuff earlier or exclusive with a time limit (GTA IV expansions).

No, I did read that part correctly. What I was getting at was the language from IW did not sound like X360 will be getting any special treatment, while it definitely did not mention anything about a timed exclusivity.

I'm really surprised by this. If it was indeed a timed exclusive for X360, shouldn't they have mentioned that bit of information in their statement? I'd go as far as saying that it was almost misleading. Maybe it was just the way it was edited on the IW Forum.

Oh alright, my bad.

Yet again the camping strikes Legendary (not so Legendary the last few nights) in a whole new form. I was playing my favourite map afghan just 10 minutes ago, it was TDM and we had 6 of us verse two of them. Everyone kept getting owned by both of them around one corner and it took us 2 deaths to bother looking at killcam and find out that they are camping inside the rocks, yes, inside the freakin rocks. By the time I decided to leave I was 9 deaths and 0 kills.

In that whole match all I wanted was one kill to level up, I was only 52xp away from level 47. I try another match, it is in Karachi, the second I join and spawn I am insta-killed. I go around a corner after spawning again and boom, akimbo rangers, I spawn again, run 2 metres and get shotgunned from a doorway up above, I spawn again, get one kill (I level up, yay) and then get owned. I then leave and I will not play CoD again tonight. I am so disappointed in this game, I thought it was going to be so much fun like CoD4 online but apparently everyone is a stupid glitching noob. I want these glitches fixed fast or this game is gonna get dust on it very soon. I am not happy :(.

Had a good half dozen or so games last night. Got matched mostly with similar level players and usually had a four-bar connection, which is a good start.

Managed to raise my K/D from .88 to .94 in the space of just those few games too. After initially having a decent positive K/D when i began playing the game and was playing cautiously, it had soon dropped to about .80 when i began to explore the maps more. I think with so many advantageous perks and killstreaks compared to CoD4, you really need to play MW2 with much more caution, patrolling smaller areas of the map instead of making epic cross-country campaigns where you think the grass might be greener.

No, my bad. I shouldn't laugh at your "not so legendary" comment, but I sure did.

I don't think there is a way to hide inside the rocks, at least not in Afghan. If there is, I haven't seen anyone doing it. But due to the layouts and the shapes of these rocks, you can very effectively use them as awesome covers. I've been noticing how they've been designed to be used as covers, or so you can climb on them. When you put couple of good campers holding positions, it would be hard to penetrate them without some plan, or teamwork. I personally have held off an entire team 2, 3 times over by myself by the cliffside before(bottom left corner of the map). If you are indeed correct in people actually glitching, that would be a turnoff for me as well. I know I've mentioned this a hundred times, but reason why I quit on World at War: 1) Crap weapons. 2) Glitching. It was so bad in WaW.

Hang in there, buddy. It will turn around for you. It always does. :D:tup:

This has been my approach from the very beginning(CoD4). Familiarize before venturing out. After few days, weeks, you start to see where all these areas connect.

Has anyone else completely mastered a weapon yet? I started off with the M4A1 and have just got to finish off the headshots challenge then I'm done. I've completed all the attachment challenges. Think I'm going to do this with every weapon as the XP later on is 10000 per completed challenge.

I just started paying attention to those. I'm working on my ACR, but I think I still have two more to go, with the grenade launcher one being one of them.

I have just the 'Fall' camo to obtain, which I hope is the last challenge for the M4. I have 90 more headshots to go, I think, for a total of 250 headshots.

Now that there are so many people who are so unfairly advantaged, and more people refusing to put up with it, and the fact that my controller just broke, I won't be able to complete this last challenge anytime soon.

As a player, I tend to work the map quite a lot, I usually end the game with the most distance travelled accolade. From this you tend to find the area's in which players like to fight/hang around, skuling around the outskirts of the map usually allows you to get from place to place without being placed in large fights, making most encounters one on one, on an often unsuspecting enemy. Sneaking round opponents and attacking from behind is a tactic that works out well, in fact you can often take out multiple enemies at once when they are engaging someone else across the map. You can learn a lot about the map this way without ever getting into too much trouble.

That said, I don't think there is a right or a wrong way to go about learning or playing maps for that matter, I generally move a lot, it works for me but to each his own.

Same here Steve, I tend to avoid the "busy" areas and try to sneak around the outskirts of the map. Sometimes you'll also stumble into a spawning area and will pick up a nice kill streak.

@The Cracker:

I pretty much play MW2 like that. With every map, I like to find a comfortable part to form the base for my operations, and I usually stick pretty ridgidly to that area, or until I have outstayed my welcome! Sometimes that base is off the beaten track, but other times it is a part that sees a lot of traffic.

If I do decide to go out and see if the 'grass is greener', I set an objective for me to reach, and a clear path to do so. I've found that having an objective helps greatly in my progress in the map, than just aimlessly wondering around looking for kills. For instance. I usually base my point to point objectives on the positions the flags are in domination, so I will plot a route that goes from say A to C, then B, and tackle any opposition that I meet along the way.

I laso like to patrol areas. I used to do this a lot on COD4, and I do just as often on MW2. When I'm thinking about a route to patrol, I base the route on the shape of a letter or a number. I know it sounds like an odd way of doing things, but I've found that, particularly with numbers, you can form some pretty effective patrol routes, if you place them on the cusp of a number of areas.

I always play with my back to the wall, that is, I'm at the edge of the map looking in. I've found it is better to have your blindspots protected by natural barriers than to wander off into the middle and have to keep track of an evolving 360 degree fire fight. One upshot from 'looking in' is that I rarely get sniped, because I operate in their space, and one of my favourite roles is that of anti-sniper/lonewolf/camper.

Lastly, the area I choose to operate in decides what type of weapon I use, rather than trying to play uncomfortably with a weapon I like. For instance, If I venture indoors, I will always draw my machine pistol, as it is good for those moments that you get surprised by some camper.

Yeah, I've 10/10'd my Famas after around 40 or so levels, and got the fall skin, and Im also about 70 headshots short of 350. I'm 8/10 with the M16, M4, SCAR-H and FAL.

And I do agree with you, especially with the last part. I play just about every style, except for what I call the Terminator. I have handful of people on my friends list who just walk right into the middle of the enemy, or walk through right in the middle of an open street, then literally shoot every single bastard that he comes in contact with. I need more practice before I start pulling those off.

Anyways, back to the topic. For a total noob, wandering around a map he/she is unfamiliar with, to me, is just asking for it. There are just so many ways, and so many angles that they can get you. Like I said, I think everything you said is sound, except to the noobs.

I finally get to try out MW2 tonight at a mates house. I have a feeling im going to get creamed because of the amount of time that everyone has been playing it already. I will have nothing but what you start with, no knowledge of maps, and just unfamiliar with it all around. Hopefully i will stand my own at least a little.

I agree with a lot of what magburner said in terms of keeping blindspots as well covered as possible and trying to 'patrol' areas to gain an advantage.

I think you learn maps properly when your trying out different game modes e.g. before I got back into playing Search and Destroy on the new one, just on regular TDM's and HQ's, I never really explored all the places to go, where ladders are, jumps from buildings etc...but when I was playing S&D I needed to go around a lot more to search and destroy the opposition :)

Well I started playing some online today and am getting a bit better. I started out terribly and am getting my kill:death closer to 1:1. If anyone is up to play some together, feel free to add me.

If you want a nuke instead.
7 kills, harrier, pretty hard to 7 kills without anything but yourself but rewarding.
11 kills, chopper gunner, gets you to the nuke.
25 kills, tactical nuke, WTF BOOOOOMMMM

There is and I saw it. Have you seen the pipe glitch in rust? You can get inside one of the pipes, I know because I know how to do it (I dont use it in public of course). I think the Afghan glitch is the same as the pipe and the WaW rock glitch as well. I think you just keep jumping and you get inside, whatever it is, it wouldnt be hard but noone knows it yet. I didnt think this game would have many glitches but there is quite a few, elevators and all that.

If you anywhere near half decent at COD4 you'll do just fine. I am genuinely suprised at how easy I've found it to adapt to MW2 even after starting over a week behind.

On another note I've been having epic fun with Marathon, Lightweight, Steady Aim Pro perks combined UMP45 Sub-Machine Gun and an AA-12 Shotgun. I got 49 Kills to 16 Deaths with this setup in a Domination game, the next highest in my team only got 20 Kills.

Ok, Legendary is legendary again. I have confirmed the rock glitch in Afghan with a Youtube video, I know how to do it so I know it isnt fake. I am also back into my ownage phase. 25-5 is pretty sweet. I turned my sensitivity down one notch and got into an Australian server and that seems to have done the trick, yay!

Well I have gotten farther away from having a 1:1 kill:death ratio. Apparently in the matter of an hour I have gotten much worse. Need some more practice to get back in the swing of playing a first person shooter. I do not remember, before picking up Modern Warfare a few weeks ago and now Modern Warfare 2, the last shooter I really spent a good amount of time playing.

Too bad about the glitch. 👎 And Rust, I haven't even played a ranking match on there yet.

Vash: I'm not sure if you got beat because of what you did, or didn't do. This game is just like CoD4. Sometimes, you have no control over how well or poorly you play in matches. Luck, matchmaking, those things can boost you up, or put you down. That's why I tell people to just keep playing, and it will come around.

I actually played 2 TDM matches in Rust yesterday. The only other times I played it were split-screen and during the first MW2 game night. Then I ended up playing Favela three times in 6 matches, twice without leaving to find a new game.

Oh my god, back on the rant hammer.

I was in a private match with two mates and we were no scoping and quick scoping for old times sake with our own rules. We were having great fun and then a friend of my friend joined. He followed the rules, then another random joined and he did not follow the rules. After 10 minutes I kick him, he comes back with the right gun and all and then about 2 others join and my private match goes from sniping to hell that I had to end. So what happened to the private bit infinity ward?

I then take one of those friends into public matches with me, hardcore S and D, what happens? We both get 1 bar connections and our K.D's go down. Why, just why does it have to be so damn difficult?

Isn't there a way to keep people from just joining in your private matches? Of course, if someone in the match invites another person in, I don't know if you can do anything about that.

On your k/d getting screwed by one bar, just reel in as much as you can when you do have things going your way, be it lopsided matchmaking, good connection, etc. I think when things are against you, you should just take a break. Sometime, you'll get the mojo back even before the match is over. Sometimes, you fight it for hours(from personal experience :D). Just focus on getting as much kill in as you can when things are going your way. Easier said than done, I realize this.

Im trying to repair said damage to my K.D. It is on 1.33 and SHOULD be approaching 1.34. I have just been playing random free for alls and demoltions again.

I have a new class aswell.

'Knifetastic'

Any gun for primary (not heavy), mine is P90.
M9 for pistol (hoping for tactical knife)
Throwing knife
2x Flash
Marathon - unlimited sprint
Lightweight - Move Faster
Commando Pro - Longer knife distance + no falling damage (soon to have tactical knife)
Final Stand

That class is basically only for knifing with the occasional P90 in it. I only use it on Free For All with a good connection, basically it is a fun class that only works with a good connection (no knife lag).

Yesterday when I first played it online, someone used a stealth fighter. Very cool. 👍 Except it was someone from the other team. :p
