You could grab a dreamcast and a copy of 24 hour lemans... got the right cars, the right track, day/night cycle, weather :)

No, you can get the ported PS2 version on PC and run it with a wheel.
Still no driver changes, but you can save in the pits in the 4?(Not sure),12 and 24 hour race type.

It would be awesome to see 10 LMP car(Toyota GTone,Nissan R390GT1,R8,R10,Pescarolo Peugeot 908 HDI FAP,Astron Martin, Bentley speed8,BMW V12lmr,Mercedes CLK-LM...) and 6 GT car(Viper GTR,Corvette C6R,Astron Martin DB9R, Saleen S7R, McLaren F1 GTR, Ferrari F430 , 575 Maranelo, murcielago GTR...)

I'm sorry, but since I love this car so much, I must correct it for you- Aston Martin DBR9. Its a beautiful car, emits beautiful noises, shifts, tires, engines, and looks smexy. 👍

-> Highly doubt it, I think that "Le Mans 24 Hours" license now belongs to Turn 10...( I think)

^ While GT is still stuck with that "Circuit De la Sarthe" moniker, its not a bad thing but the name "Le Mans" is more synonymous. :indiff:

Well, Circuit de la Sarthe is the name of the circuit. Le Mans is the city it's located by.

I haven't played past GT games. When you say 24 hour race you don't mean literally 24 hours, right?
Yup, non-stop. You could switch between you and the B-Spec driver though so you don't have to drive all of it. Hopefully we can save in GT5.

@VB, I think it is just in PD's blood to use proper names for tracks. Kind of like how they use Cote de Azur for Monaco. They still have to have the license they just use the proper name where as T10 uses the more commonly known name.

I want different classes. 8 LMP cars and 8 GT cars would be good, as someone above mentioned.

I respectfully disagree. It would be the same thing all over again then, won't it? We will be racing against 7 cars, just a difference of 2 compared to the previous one.

20 cars would be great. 10-10 per class.

While you may not be racing directly with another class there presence alone should make the track seem far busier, with only 5 other cars on track the track was so empty that you could go for whole stints without seeing another car.

Polyphony should go one step further than just Le Mans, they should get the licenses for ALL Le Mans Series.... forget FIAGT because all sources indicate that GT1 class is going to be dead and buried in a few years

I think that Turn10 don"t have license for Le man"s because we don"t see official logo on those screenshot... If you look at his GT5 screenshot you will see WRC and NASCAR logo at bottom.

And Circuit de la Sarthe is the official name of the track, Le Mans is the name of the race, if you know Le Mans and you dont know what C.de la Sarthe is....rough.

Unless FM has 24hr endurance races online or ingame then they can't claim to have Le Mans races because by definition it is a 24hr race.

Forza has the ALMS licenses, but that begs the question of why the Audi R15 wasn't included Forza 3??? (It's not even a DLC). This means PD must have some sort of _LMS licenses.

I don't think Audi entered the R15 in any ALMS events other than 12 hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans. This could be a reason why, although you would think they still would have included it.

Im guessing Forza's Le Mans isnt as accurate as Gran Turismo's, GT4 gave a real sense of how narrow the run from Mulsanne Corner to Indianapolis is, Forza just doesnt seem to recreate that 'essence of La Sarthe'

Cote de Azur is the name of a big part of the French southern coast though (French Riviera). Is the Monte Carlo track called this during any real race(s)? Strange name if true. Also, slightly off topic, how many race weekends/events do Monaco have a year?

16 cars at ~200k pollys has pretty much maxed out the PS3, you won't see 20+ cars in GT until there is a new console out (either that or PD become independant and start developing for PC)

More importantly, we want night racing, dynamic weather and the ability to save the race part way through (24 hours is way too long to play a video game - B spec mode does not make up for a second driver). We want some sort of split between LMP and GT cars, but as has been pointed out, 16 cars is not enough so a compromise has to be made. But <8 LMP cars would be silly in my opinion.

Where do you get this 10-10 per class. Lemans races have 3 to 4 classes LMP1, LMP2, GT1(depending on the sires), and GT2. So they would probably split it into a 5-5-5-5 or 7-6-7.

Of course we will see La Sarthe 24Hrs. again.

I hope that PD will include a save section for long endurance races
because staying in front of a TV for 24 hrs isn't to good for your retinas.(For die-hard GT fans who think they show their 'true' game freak skills)
Unless you leave the PS3 on start until your next stint. Then, you would run the risk of a power cut.:grumpy:

Plus I don't think that is very good for the PS3 either, not that I know any computer stuff.

Just one.

Only one, but what your saying is defeating the objective of the point made, you've failed to make much sense. I dont know if this was what you intended to do but it comes across as fanboy-ish, but anyway, Monte Carlo only holds two race meetings a year, the Grand Prix and the Rally. To use the name Monte Carlo or Monaco I think they would need to seek the permission of the Principality of Monaco, The FIA and FOM/CVC/Ecclestone due to the way in which the rights are managed with the Monaco Grand Prix, it's different to other circuits.

Your also forgetting that Cote De Azur is one of the official nicknames for the tracks often used in race coverage, so it isn't a duff knock-off name. Like what Forza have done by simply slapping 'Le Mans' in a simular font, if Forza had the license to the track they would have the proper La Sarthe logo like Gran Turismo.... is it me or is this thread a tad heavy on the nit picking

Lemans, the track itself, is confirmed. But my fear is that we won't be able to race modern Lemans cars on it.

Why We saw Audi R10 and probable we will see Pescarolo Peugeot 908 and petrol version of Pescarolo and new Astron Martin LMP... Maybe even Audi R15!

I don't know why you think that would happen. In previous GTs we were able to race any car on any circuit, I highly doubt that will change for GT5. Also, if Turn10 officially licensed the 24 Heures du Mans event, then I'm sure they would be flaunting that license about.
