Nooby here. Y'all seen me struggling. I think I got a low 1:24 a couple times. Sorry if you fast guys hate driving around me or having to punt me. I'm trying to figure this out. I don't think I'm doing too bad , starting from scratch a couple weeks ago. I'm way off the big dawgs tho. I think I've plateaued. I've read as much as I can any advice or friends or whatever would be appreciated. I've tried no turbo with turbo 3, supercharged, best I can do is with turbo 3. I have a Logitech wheel , so I can't really bump race only drive the line. I know some dudes hate that but hey it's still racing. I noticed that the top dawgs don't race as much lately. I don't think I could hang anyway but I know I could get a 1 second somewhere. Is the turbo 2 the way to go?
Consensus seems to be that supercharger is the way to go.

@kilesa4568 : Ok, maybe not stupid, but very naive indeed.

I get what you are saying, but you got to understand a few things about SRF in these races:
1: you CAN NOT turn it on or off.
2: it can be turned on or off at random even in the same room, so you have to check before EVERY RACE.
3: because of this, its very easy to miss, you dont generally feel it, the car just grips more, and you go faster. you think you are getting better, but in reality, the game is just playing tricks on you.

And despite this, and the fact that (I assume) you did not actually knew about it, you are saying its impossible that you missed the fact that the SRF was on? Come on man, we all do mistakes, and you will only look more and more foolish the more you stick to it and refuse to acknowledge it.

I will say this one last time, you can not do 1:22 with SRF off, it just can't be done. Maybe Ti-tech or Immortal can, with alot of practice, but you or I certainly cant.

Now, you know the saying "Let sleeping bears lie"? Well you my friend just decided it was a good idea to poke it with a stick.

I was going to call you the God of thunder us mere mortals putting in are fabulous lap times then you came, you conquered, took a bow & left
Your lap times I could only dream about I tip my hat off, clad you saved my blushes taking the pic when I was still running, I can tell everyone
I was a couple of seconds behind lol.

Wondered where you were, haven't seen you in a room yet!

Yea I'm at the cape of good hope, but there doesn't seem to be much competition tonight, lol I can't believe I'm saying that.

yeah, but I was slapped on the fingers by @kilesa4568 , When I put on some ballast I squezed out a 1:20.1. When I get the time I will work out a new setup and I'm confident I can get down to mid 19's.
But thats with SRF on, I still haven't tested with ballast and SRF off, so we will se what is possible there.

Wouldn't run with SRF myself. Too arcadey. You run unfeasibly low lap times with it and you're just cheating yourself as well as others.:D

The times I've seen SRF turned on (never in the Mazda race...funnily enough...), a quick disconnect and reconnect fixes it. I've never seen it on twice in a row so it's easy to avoid...if you wanted to. Run what you want but it's better to compare lap times like for like if you use it.

...and there was no finger slapping going on. I just offered advice (nicely I thought...) based on what worked for me and what didn't. You'll always be faster than me but your car at that point wasn't. Faster lap times based on my car's speed, not the low talent driver behind the wheel getting them. That's all I was saying. More power. More speed. Less lap time.

Anyway. You're welcome. I'm glad the supercharger and ballast helped you and that I saved you wasting time until you tried them for yourself.

Shall we move on?

Yeah sure.
Laptimes without SRF is somewhere in the mid/high 22's, I've still not worked out what weight works best. I tried to do some testing today, but connection was terrible and I gave up. I hope I can catch you in a room sometime so I can see you doing 22's for myself (I'm still having a hard time believing it) but atlest now I know its possible, so I'll have to let it be.

I can understand where you were coming from. I'm just a casual player and never mingle in the same circles as you so I imagine I would have wondered how I was going as quick as I was as well. All down to the car's power unfortunately and very little to do with my skill level. A shame it isn't the other way round...

Regarding the weight, I've tested from 20kg all the way up to 130kg but over 110kg, I was really starting to struggle and losing time with the suspension setup that I've got used to. I'm not saying more weight and power isn't beneficial as I've seen the increased speed at the end of the fast sections but any time I made up there, I lost again in the corners. I've been on 110@40 for the last week and have been chipping away at my time though. I'm comfortable with that weight as ideally, I don't want to change the suspension.

...and I'd love another race. Drivers running 22s (even low 23s) are few and far between in there and it's a nightmare trying to find a close race. Pretty much the point of a one make race. There's a huge disparity between tunes in there.

Im managing 1:26.2xx with no FI, no suspension tune, no aids other than ABS, and stock DF. Then I get obliterated by some dude that pulls a 1.22.6xx. So if that's just SFR...they should tune it off! :p

Kudos to the TRL_ guys. I see TRL_Immortal all over the leaderboards. Would love to pick his/her brain.

After a bunch of hack style tweeking I'm in mid 1:23s. Whoopee big deal. Way to embarrassed to show y'all my set up though. I can't do crap with supercharger. Turbo 3 I get 3.67 power/ weight ratio.

I can imagine Immortal's first tip. Don't use untuned cars in a tuner quick match and then moan about people 4 seconds quicker.

As seen above, SRF gets you into the 20s. A decent tune without it gets you into the 22s.

There's nothing wrong with mid 23s. I've run a lot of races against (I'm Digtater on there) you. You're running quick enough to make things difficult for the quicker drivers so get those elbows out and make them work for it when the line is yours.

(The supercharger is quicker though. No waiting for the turbos out of the slower corners and well worth the time to get used to it. I only did 100 miles trying the turbo route. The next 2100 were done with the supercharger.)

I don't know what all s r f stuff is mine been off all the time at the cape but I'm a pad user is it a steering wheel thing? I know you can adjust
B B on them while racing, next there be making the tea lol.

Im racing him right now too. 5:32 total for him. Im no where close. Managed a 1:25.2xx

His best: 1:21.169
Mine: 1:25.271

WTF am I missing here? No SRF avail.

EDIT: Was missing the ballast! Woah...1:24.1xx. Not a bad gain.

Here's what I dont get. What in the laws of physics makes the suspension setup on this car to have it so high in the front? Don't understand.

i dont know what you call high but im running 115 at the front and 95 at the rear, i have it that high because i try and take the curbs on the apex and any lower it loses grip at the front.

It's GT6 physics. Essentially, the lower side will slide more on corner entry.

You should see some of the fastest FWD and AWD car tunes. Full high front, full minimum rear. Looks silly but it's effective. Just gotta try it.

Transmisson:
Reset to default, set final gear to 3500, then set max speed to minimum
1'st: 4.570
2'nd: 3.675
3'rd: 2.875
4'th: 2.280
5'th: 1.840
Final gear: 2.675

Cant get 4th and 5th to that high on mine? They top out at 2.228 and 1.780 respectively. Is it lack of Stage 3 engine? As i'm running a supercharger.

Edit: Same thing happened trying to configure Digitater's transmission, what have I done :O?

^^ Yes. The power has to be done the same for the ratios to match up.

SRF for me added about 2 seconds

I had a race against someone yesterday running 1:20 laps and a quick look (less than half a lap) at the replay showed just how much SRF helps. Ridiculous to be honest. I wouldn't even recommend it to someone new to driving games as it takes all the feel out of the car and a hindrance to actually learning how to drive properly.

I can get down to 22.5 and the car is on a knife edge in every corner. A lot more fun (and work) than the SRF hand holding.

I may not have your experience, but certainly not a newbie.
Spent hours on testing and getting nowhere at all. Seeing 22's is a millennium away, lucky to see 23's
Its becoming frustrating

Do you know if you are a testing a car in the Arcade Mode, your times are faster than when you go online.

I guess you did an oil change? I put a better (still not perfect but it's better) gearbox setup here as well.

@superjet701

I wasn't calling you a novice.

^^That's a tip for someone who's new to the game and in no way shape or form directed at you. Read it again and you'll see.

What tune are you using? Perhaps it isn't giving you the confidence to push?

Won 7 in a row tonight, it was great fun :D I eventually came p2 to a guy by less than a second. We pushed each other so hard though, I set my fastest ever lap. :) He messaged me after saying 'I give in' XD. It has reminded me QM isn't completely full of rammers.

Here's what I dont get. What in the laws of physics makes the suspension setup on this car to have it so high in the front? Don't understand.

The reason is because ride height in GT6 is glitched so whatever adjustment you make it has the opposite effect in handling. So all these miatas should have a dragster stance instead of looking like cars with broken axles if ride height was how it was supposed to be
