My friends and relatives play our league with something like this. It's a lot of work but It makes GT5 So much better. We have maintenance fee's damage fees, tire fees etc. We even have a deeper tuning system than GT5 when using the current system. Like I said It's a lot of work but it is well worth it.

I have enough real world crap to deal with as it is. I don't want to deal with it playing a video game. That's one reason I play, to not have to deal with the real world crap for a little while.

Paying to repair damage is a must! And "repair time" worked in, as in the car can't be used for a few game days after the crash.

Even B'spec fees, Driver wage, pit crew etc.

OF course, it would have to implemented as a tier above GT mode, because not everybody would want to deal with this.

I like this idea. Having to pay for gas/diesel (R10 TDI) and repairs would be a fun addition to the game.
I would like to add to this idea though...
If you are racing and you run out of fuel, your engine should cut out and you should roll to a stop... not be restricted to 50 mph or whatever it is. This would add a nice touch of realism to the game.

But what if a new bee spent all there money on a car, and couldn't afford to fix it when it was totaled?

What you just said could be in a new gamemode, adding to A-Spec and B-Spec.

I think a combination between GT5, TDU2, PS Home, The Sims and possibly NFSU2 would be a cool idea.

That's the point of building it up slowly like you would in real life or the previous GT games.
You start with, say, 20 grand...
The car you buy is 10 grand
Buy a cheap upgrade for it like the Racing Chip (a grand) or the air filter (450 bucks)
If ya wreck it, you still have like 8 grand to fix it for the next race.

Perhaps PD should make us do 9 hours of boring tasks a day before were allowed to race the cars (Jobs).

Could also have cars stolen from time to time and shipped off to another country.

place speed dumps all street circuits to only allow us to drive at 30mph.

............

I could do without insurance etc. within game.

The purpose of a racing sim is to get away from all the dreary practical aspects of being an automotive freak. You want it to simulate the looks, sound and physics of a car because you want to feel the thrills of owning a your dreamed car and rack as many miles as you wish with it. Would you be happy if racing games simulated the wheels of your car getting stolen? Or simulate how people scratch your car out of sheer envy? Or if it simulated that feeling of "I'd take my car out today but I don't have enough money for the petrol"?

When you go to a trackday in GT5, or any current racing game I'm aware of, you take your car and drive it until the tyres are worn and the fuel is gone. Then you pit, and they're changed. Would you rather have a menu to pop up saying "Not enough credits to change tyres to: Lexus LFA. Returning to garage" and then grinding or doing whatever to earn enough money again to pay for a frickin' set of tyres??? It'd make high-levelled racing unbearable!!!

Negative sir.
The purpose of a simulator is to simulate. The closer the simulator brings you to real life, the better it will be. The utopia you describe smells like Need for Speed.

I'll have a #3 Polyphony Digital, and Simulate me please!

💡 What happens if you run out of money? Do they start repossessing your cars? :scared:

Impossible given the current rich money system we've got going. One B-spec race earns us millions. The only time I ran out of money in GT5 was on purpose for the trophy.

Only up to a certain point. Simulating real-life physics, graphics, cars, etc. is good. Simulating the horrible insurance, storage, fuel costs, etc. is not good.

I'd be perfectly fine with paying money to repair damage... but paying money for insurance, tyres, storage, fuel, etc. would make the game boring.

Insurance I agree, no.
Storage I agree, no.

Tires, fuel, and your pit crew you should have to pay for I feel. You win $10,000 coming in 1st, 10% Pit crew, 5% fuel and tires deducted.

This idea would work much better in a game such as the Codemasters F1 series. It would be similar to "be a General Manager" mode in sports games. You would have to use your budget money to pay for car parts, travel, other fees, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.

i had a similar idea in the GT3 era :).

What would be cool if it was implemented in B-spec too (in combination with a 'fast forward' option).

If insurance is to be implemented, than damage must not dissappear after a race. And having no insurance bought for your car and damaging your car, the only way to fix the damage is to pay credits for it.

When your car has insurance, then each every amount X of time, a certain fee must be taken from your total of credits (insurance fee). That'd be cool :)

GAME OVER

Haha simple, I think this was in Mindnight Club LA or a game I used to have anyway.

Perhaps B-Spec should be like this, rather then a cash grind option...

I like the idea of having to repair car damage but this would have to be done automatically after every race especially when racing online otherwise it would be extremely difficult to stay in the same room for very long.

Also, a penalty system should exist to better penalize the bad drivers. If someone is causing a wreck intentionally then they should have to pay for the repairs they have caused to other drivers. A system like this may help prevent people from driving overly aggressively and intentionally wrecking other drivers.

So I did some mundane calculations, and I found out that if I owned a Toyota Gt one, I would pay around 75 bucks average to fill it up from 15 to 100 if the price for fuel were $3.49 per gal (0.87 cents per liter) like in my area. Times that by 32 stops during the 24 hours, and the grand total should be around $2400 total in just fuel.

I based this off the price of regular since I don't know what the price for premium was. That, and used a solid 4 in converting from gallons to liters as it was just a guesstimate.

I wouldn't want to bring to a racing event all the stuff needed ( tools, some spare parts, fuel, r compound tires on lightweight wheels), strip some interior parts to remove dead weight. And after the race having to put all this back into my daily driver which is also my week-end lapping car.

No, there will be a new W-SPEC mode where you can pay your depts by whashing the communities cars. Its an 9 hours 7 days enduro :dopey:

Interesting ideas.

I think parts and upgrades are generally way too cheap. Money as a strategic element in GT5 works perhaps in the first half of A-spec?!

Fuel should get more expensive throughout gameplay, so as you earn more money for new cars and upgrades etc, more of the money will be spent on fuel so money is just as tight as it was when you first started playing.

That would be a good idea because now credits will serve more of a purpose rather than just buying, tuning and customizing cars with aerodynamics, paint job and rims.
