Changing rims on Standard cars

I have been very excited since i first heard of this... I love my standards, and have tuned many, cant wait to pull some of the cars out for new wheel treatments. If its anything like GT4's set up, i couldnt ask for more. I do hope, but im not counting on, the option to increase rim diameter

I'm exactly the same. IMHO this and Spa are the best things to happen to GT5 since initial release. But I pray that it will be like GT4 in wheel selection. Previously, if you recall, rims were bigger when using slicks than street tyres. I'll be happy if this was re-instated.

Anyway, if the update will be available at 4:00GMT (as quoted), that should be ~3-4pm In Australia, or ~6pm in NZ. Hopefully someone from either of these countries will update us on arrangements. Or else, I'll be home around 7pm and will be able to update..

Very Nice Mk2Golf!!!

My RGT is one of my fav cars, but looks so POX with the standard wheels, so will also be getting the treatment.

But most of all, I'll be adding wheels to my R31 GTSR.
 
My drift holdens first, then my drift speed 12. probably followed by all of the standards I have lol.

want rims like the ones on my real car 20's lol or as similar as I can get

Lol ya they need rim size as well. Most rims are just too small

This is true, but mainly for older cars IMHO. Newer cars come standard with rather large wheels. For example, my RA22 celica will only look marginally better when aftermarket wheels because they are simply too small. Ideally, they need to be 15inch, but in the game, they look like they are 12inch LOL!!
 
At first I thought; "great! updated versions of the rims from GT4!" Now I've started to think; "It's going to be downgraded versions of the rims for premiums isn't it."

Hope I'm wrong and we DO get the same selection from GT4.
 
Hmmm, we have a thread about the Standard wheel changes already, so this is merged with that.
 
Don't get your hopes up guys, I can't see them modelling a bunch of new wheels, even if they're just ported over from GT4(like the standard cars). I'm just going to take an educated guess and say that the rims we can put on premiums now, will also be the rims we can put on standards after the update, and maybe the "Daily Specials" would return as those rims are already modelled and in the game.. Either way it's going to be a welcome addition!

I have a feeling you might be right there. I WISH PD would be a little less cryptic in their updates. If they say "Wheels for premums will now be avalible for standards" They'd save a lot of heartbreak for people when they find out they're not getting the full selection from GT4.

I guess it's so people will board the hype train, but still. I was one of these kids who liked to know what I was getting for christmas :) I don't like surprises because they're usually a let down.

I'm hoping because the 'wheels on standards' is the headline feature for this update, that it will be more than what you say, but realistically, I suspect your description will be right.

As you say, a welcomed addition. But it would be a little dissapointing one for me. I was really hoping for old school wheels like SSR and the like to put on older cars. The Nismo LM wheels I had on my R31 GTSR were awesome (pictured below). Those wheels were originally from the R33 GTR 400R.

I want my fav wheels the Enkei RPF1 to available on even more cars.
 
I think we will be able to purchase either premium wheels or downgraded wheels for standard cars. However, I have a slight bit of hope that the entire selection from GT4 will return, including the weekly thing.

I want to be wrong, and there is a chance that I am, since I'm going to assume like the standard cars, all the aftermarket wheels from GT4 are already modelled and since the daily specials are just rims from other cars you can buy, they're technically already in GT5. Oh and maybe a new daily special will be included with rims from GT5's premium cars as well, I'm not getting my hopes up, but it would be a nice feature.

They may just keep the Premium selection of wheels, OR we could only use Standard rims from other cars on Standards, It's a hard guess, but only about 3 more hours of waiting...
Personally i'd rather have Standard Daily Special selection instead of premium rims.
 
I'm probably going to change the rims on my trucks :P The chevy looks nice stock but the other ones definitely need new rims.

3 loooooong hours. And even moooore hours waiting for the game to finish updating.
 
Yup. I'm both (extremely) excited, and anxious as to what will be available. I'm leaving work 30 minutes early to get to this today :)

Indeed. I am expecting the same wheel options that are available for the Premium's right now. Everything after that is a bonus.

Realistically speaking everyone here should go in expecting the same. There is no hint whatsoever of anything else.
