The only cool thing about Rutgers is that you can shout RUTT-GEHZ!

 :ouch:
A) How many people do you know who shout that?
B) That's not very nice.

So it's party time tonight- Kent State at Buffalo. Upstate New York plays host to this MAC contest. Good luck to both the Golden Flashes (Kent State) and the Bulls (Buffalo).

Will the Golden Flashes play a game without returning a punt the wrong way? Tune in tonight!

Andre Parker will not live that one down any time soon. :guilty:

I'm still kind of fascinated as to why his teammates were blocking for him on this blooper ? Still amazed as to why the opposition were trying to tackle him ?

This was a freebie 2 point safety for Towson. I guess it was one of those "heat of the moment things". Things happen.

My rationale is that they were attempting to get the ball to try and score a touchdown instead of get the safety (I mean, Towson is a good school, they may think two steps ahead), but I doubt that's it .

Actually, there was no safety possible. A muffed punt cannot be advanced (or in this case, retreated). While the play looked ridiculous even if he ran it back to his own end-zone nothing would have happened. The play was dead.

I missed that one. I'm thinking you are correct. It can only be advanced if it was fumbled, in this case it was not. It was only inadvertently touched ... no advancement allowed.

Good call Blitz, thanks for catching that. 👍

Kent State won last night's game at Buffalo. I think it was a 23-7 victory for the Golden Flashes. That lone touchdown by Buffalo was a beauty- it was a Hail Mary pass at the half that saw Buffalo score their only points. So Kent State picked up the win.

Two games are on the card for tonight, both in FBS and FCS. #25 BYU will head to the Smurf Turf to meet the Boise State Broncos. On the FCS side, two SWAC schools are ready to clash here in the South- the Golden Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff will meet the Alabama State Hornets. I'm pretty sure there will also be some good matches in NCAA Division 2 and maybe NCAA Division 3.

Enjoy your college football!

@Blitz, good call. That's sad that I'm an official and forgot the rule on that. That is the high school rule, I must have thought it didn't carry over.

My Sports Illustrated came in, and guess who replaced Barkley at #1?
(Congrats to Nick, OSU QB Braxton Miller is now #4 on the list).

Oh, and Cam, how were the Chris Johnson days at ECU?

Called that one on post #268 in this thread. ;)
Geno Smith is worthy

CONGRATS !!! 👍 KEEP IT UP !

As far as Braxton Miller is concerned, he is good ... he is real good ... but he is not Heisman good ... yet. He is however well worthy of honorable mention, but cannot play up to the hype of Smith and Barkley. Next year, if he remains healthy and puts up some productive figures, then I would be "tooting his horn a bit", but not until then. We'll see what pans out for him. ;)

I remember he had a kick return TD one day, and I turn to the guy next to me and ask "How old is this kid?" He replied that he was a freshman.

He was a solid feature back from his freshman to junior years and then totally exploded during his senior year. His only flaw was a fumble (first in 300+ touches) that almost lost us the Hawaii Bowl vs. Boise State in '07.

The #24 Boise State Broncos defended home turf by merely surviving 7-6 against BYU. Sometimes, your wins are ugly wins. Arkansas-Pine Bluff went into Alabama State and took down the Hornets 24-21. In the featured NCAA Division 2 game on CBS Sports Network, it was 38-17 as the Mules of Central Missouri beat down the Truman State Bulldogs at the University of Central Missouri.

The match for Friday night involves the Baylor Bears going to the University of Louisiana-Monroe to take on the Warhawks. If ULM wins, they deserve at least some Top 25 ranking.

the Mules of Central Missouri

 That's right up there for worst mascot.

No, I've heard worse. Try the Banana Slugs of the University of California-Santa Cruz (an NCAA Division 3 non-football school). Some even are glad New York University doesn't have a football team, as they're known as the Violets.

Try the Delta State University Fighting Okra. Yes, Okra.

A friend told me that Rhode Island Institute of Technology is the Scrotums. Mascot named Scrotie the Scrotum. Even found a picture of a guy in a scrotum suit to back it up, so I'll say true till proven false .

But I do know for sure that the North Carolina School of Science and Math (high school) is the Unicorns and the North Carolina School of the Arts is the Fighting Pickles.

The sad thing is, NCSSM is actually good at soccer, so they'd probably be even better with a respectable name. Whenever they score a goal, the scorer puts one finger on his forehead pointing out, like a horn.

Last night, Louisiana-Monroe could only do so much to suppress Baylor. So they failed by a score of 47-42. It was "Hoya Saxa!" as Georgetown went into Princeton and beat them 21-20.

Lot of games on right now, including Virginia at TCU and Maryland at West Virginia among others.

Eek, those white Maryland uniforms are ug-il-ee...

Edit: Holgerson just screamed a few obscenities at Geno for throwing a screen pass...could'nt agree more...

Edit 2: Well, a 31-21 win against the Terrapins of Maryland. Not a pretty win, but Geno throws for around 325 yards and 3 TDs, all to Tavon Austin.

Edit 3: HUGE upset brewing in East Lansing: Eastern Michigan up 7-3 on Michigan State near halftime.

ECU played alright.

I love watching Denard fail.

Final in Fayetteville:

Rutgers 35 - Arkansas 26

Gary Nova throws for 397 yd and 5 TD.

I feel bad for Arkansas. Must be so frustrating to be a Hogs fan. People all over the state are going to beat their cousins as domestic abuse will likely skyrocket.

inb4 couch burning joke when WVU loses.

In Chapel Hill today, a car full of the snapback-wearing, rap-blaring Carolina fans decided to shout profanities about ECU at me (I was wearing a jersey and cap). From my car, with no change in facial expression, I slowly unfurl my middle finger and stare down the ringleader, and he promptly rolls his window up and rolls off. Highlight of my life.

I should have said if. You know I'm pulling for them.

Considering the way K State played today, I should be scared in a few weeks when we play them...

You guys play defense. OU, not so much.

Could be worse. Could be USF and lose to Ball State. Their annual collapse is underway!!!!!!!

KSU should've been in a BCS game last year. They'd better be this time. They're legit.
