Last I saw, Houston was losing 14-3 to Texas State... :scared:

I think we may be the only team in C-USA to win so far, unless UTEP did.

UTEP didn't play yet today. I seriously doubt they will beat Oklahoma though.

Rutgers winning 10-3 right now against Tulane. Pittsburgh lost to an FCS team (what a great way to begin the year!) Syracuse was losing 35-13 and comes back to take the lead and then, loses 42-41 to Northwestern.

That's right, UTEP is playing Oklahoma. A C-USA team played UCLA, but I guess they lost. I suppose we are the only ones to win.

Clemson-Auburn is good.

I know its an FCS opponent but 84-0 win by OK State? Overkill?

AND passing when your up by eleven touchdowns? Oklahoma State will be rideculed for this.

My only rationale for that is boosting the confidence of the freshman quarterback (unless they took him out).

Duke wins 46-26 :D. With North Carolina Central up next on the schedule, its a very real goal to start out 2-0. I'd be so delighted if Coach Cutcliffe and Sean Renfree could take us to a bowl game.

The Same NC Central that managed to lose twice in the past two years to Savannah State, that finished 1-10 both years and just "barely lost" 84-0 to OK State. If the game is within 20 points Duke fails.

I am becoming the biggest UTEP fan at the moment.

Edit: ANOTHER block by the Miners! Just convert your field goals, and Oklahoma will be in a hole.

Don't put anything past Duke. 4-year losing streaks aren't fun for the fans..

You got to be f:censored:ing kidding me... 30-13, TEXAS STATE? I didn't go to the game, but I wore my University of Houston cap in support of the Cougars, and THIS happens? F:censored: us being any BCS buster after this blowout loss. Overall play has to improve after dropping this one this way. No more Case Keenum, but this is terrible and unacceptable to Houston Cougars' football.

🤬 happens bro, that's how it works when you're the little guy (although this is your last year of being the little guy). Try losing two Liberty Bowls on missed field goals from less than 40 yards...

And I misspoke, Duke will be playing in the IQ Bowl against Stanford on Saturday, then NC Central.

A Division III QB (from Eureka college, which is about 90 minutes from my town) has thrown for 738 yards in one game, which is a NCAA record across all divisions.

The top WR (who is playing the first organized football game of his life, AND graduated at my HS =D), caught 13 balls for 235 yards.

It is really cool seeing a graduate of my HS (our school doesn't even have football, we are a small school), be a part of this performance.

I heard about that, that's pretty neat. I wonder if Oregon will make it to 100 points tonight, we all know Chip Kelly would punt puppies if it bolstered his stat book.

And I forgot, UCF won the other night. Akron or someone like that.

UTEP is probably going to come to Greenville in 3 weeks and completely obliterate us if they can hang with OU..

UCF winning is about as relevant as OSU winning (or Penn State, or any of the 5 other schools that aren't bown eligible this year). On that note, why is OSU rated if the rating is meaningless?

Probably for that Capital One Cup thing, for the scholarship money and whatnot.

I don't know if I want UTEP to win (so they come in overconfident) or lose (maybe a little less wind in the sails). If ECU starts off 2-2, I'll be beyond thrilled, since our next three games are South Carolina, North Carolina, and UTEP.

I think Duke honestly has a shot against Stanford.

I also hope Michigan-Alabama ends up a blowout Alabama's way, I think Michigan is a tad overrated.

CAM
Yeah. I'm loving this game so much, I hate Michigan so much. Aww, Denard's feelings are hurt, poor guy... NOT!

I'm willing to bet that your were ecstatic about the dis-mantling of Michigan last night ?

#2 'Bama laid a hurting on #8 Michigan ... 41 - 14 :ouch: Denard Robinson was not looking like the Denard Robinson of past. Was 'Bama that good, or was Michigan just that bad ? Maybe a little of both ? Michigan will regroup and come back strong next week.

My Mountaineers preformed a 69 - 34 (I believe) schellacking of Marshall today. Geno unleashes for 323 yards and 4 TD's...next week against James Madison should be no different.

As said in earlier posts .... Geno is going to have a great year as well as the Mountaineers. Congrats to your Mountaineers Deaths.

It's all about the BCS. We all know that the BCS likes to see blowouts ... regardless of what teams are involved.

Seen those stats ..... unreal !!!

Once again, it's all about the BCS. They are meant to illustrate the realistic potential highs and lows for a team's season, and any game-by-game breakdowns are more of a means to an end than anything else. By this, they (Ohio State) are assured of entering the 2013 season as one of the top-ranked teams.

On to OSU - Impressed or not impressed by their blow out victory over Miami of Ohio 56 - 10 ? I feel a little of both. Sure they blew them out as expected, but what was going on with them in the 1st quarter ? 3 -0 Miami after 1 ? It took them a quarter to get started rolling, but after that it was all downhill. I seen on a post game interview that Coach Meyer was not thrilled with the 1st quarter of play. He was a little bit on the perturbed side of things there.

How about Devin Smith's immaculate reception ? LINK
SWEETNESS !!!!! Perhaps the catch of the year in this, just the first week of college football '12 ?

Other side notes :

#12 Wisconsin survives a serious scare from unranked FCS Northern Iowa ... 26 - 21 a nail biter to the end up there at Camp Randall. Wisconsin ... regroups and comes back strong after eeking one out ?

Penn State, what can you say about Penn State ? Not to much really. Things are not so happy in Happy Valley right now, nor will they be any time soon. A MAC school - Ohio University Bobcats go to State College and lay one on the Nittany Lions 24 - 14. It's going to be a long, looonnnggg season in Happy Valley. Perhaps a long 4 years in the making.

USC - did you really expect anything else from them ? Matt Barkley makes a statement in the Trojans Home opener by trouncing Hawaii 49 - 10.

@CAM . Congrats to your Pirates on your victory. Great start by beating App. State.

I have no issue with it mattering for next year but I'd rather them ignore the team this year (as it could have implications on other bowls if OSU is in the top 25 but banned) and next year vote based on both recruiting AND this year's results.

It's not going to have implications on this years bowl games. At the end of it all, OSU gets jumped over as if they were not even there, but yet they still hold their final ranking with a * (ineligible) beside their name.

Yeah, the Michigan fans I know aren't the nicest people in the world so I enjoy it when things like that happen ;).

Ready for VT/GT on Monday.

Georgia Tech at #16 Virginia Tech TONIGHT!

It's Monday Night Football... with a difference! GT for most of us means either Grand Touring or Gran Turismo. Here, GT is for the Georgia Institute of Technology, better known as Georgia Tech. Can the Yellow Jackets from Atlanta pull the upset over the Virginia Tech Hokies? We shall see.

I'll have my proverbial money on Virginia Tech this time. Every year is one more year defensive coordinators have been able to examine and teach Paul Johnson's triple option offense, and Logan Thomas is quite an athlete.

+1

Edit: Houston's OC has resigned after one game with the team.

Is a 30-13 loss to Texas State really that embarrassing? Lol

GT at VT is underway. One thing I learned today was that the Offensive Coordinator for the University of Houston resigned after our disappointing 30-13 loss vs. Texas State. NOT the way you want to start in your season transitioning from Conference USA to the Big East.

Right now, it's 6:16 left in the 1st Quarter with no score between Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. VT is driving on the GT 6 or 7 yard line.

You know, I'm pulling for the Cardinal and Gold of Iowa St.!:)

They were having some real trouble with Tulsa on Saturday. What with you guys beating Oklahoma State last year, I think every right minded coach in the Big 12 won't overlook I-State anymore. Which probably isn't good for you guys .

You may have stopped Brandon Weeden, but you won't stop Geno come November 23rd.

I'm lovin' the Big 12, and we've only played one game.

No, you're loving Conference USA . That competition is gonna start getting a lot better than Marshall really quick, which you already know. I was actually surprised Smith didn't throw for 500 yards, did he get yanked early?

Yeah, but he still threw for 323, passed 4 TD's abd ran for another. =P

Sixty minutes wasn't enough. The winning Tech last night was Virginia Tech, as they won 20-17 in Overtime. It was deadlocked at 7 for most of the game. GT was ahead late at one point until VT forced Overtime. So VT is 1-0 on the season while GT is 0-1.

I don't know too many of this weekend's games. Maybe in a future post, I'll touch up on a few upcoming matches for this weekend.

The GT - VT game was a good one. I had #16 Virginia picked, never anticipated GT playing them as hard as they did. In overtime, I think GT shot themselves in the foot though. QB Tevin Washington threw a pass on a wing and a prayer, only to get picked off by VT.

3 things : take the loss from the sack, toss it out of bounds, or sail it out of the end zone. Live to see another play ! A field goal now forces VT to at least kick one themselves, or forces them into a TD for the win. A field goal forces a 2nd overtime, possibly, just possibly giving GT a chance to win. Hard to say.

So the new AP poll is out.

I think that 'Bama deserves the #1 spot. They did beat the 8th ranked team, handily. While the former #1, USC, beat a non ranking rival by a fair margin in itself, but not enough to sway the pollsters in their favor. I know this is the AP poll, but I'm curious to see what our beloved BCS poll says about week #1. Who picked up ? Who dropped down, and by how far ?

Week #2 coming up. The Bucks will be hosting UCF this weekend, it should be another easy one for OSU .... we'll see.

Good luck to your teams this weekend.
