Like Nick said, the AP poll is out. My Mountaineers have moved up to #8 in the USA Today poll, while being tied for #9 in the AP poll, with Geno as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.

A bye week this week, then off to a neutral field to play the Dukes of James Madison.

Oh, and by the way, fans have a part in voting for the Davey O' Brien Award now. Can you guess who I'M voting for?
 
Why in the world is a game against JMU at a neutral site? Your athletic director must have been high when he signed the contract for that..

Hopefully UCF loses 100-0. Not my favorite bunch of guys.

We head to South Carolina on Saturday, it would probably be the best day of this calendar year so far if we won. Duke goes to Stanford.
 
I have no idea. I don't even know where it's at.

If you can beat South Carolina, I think I may buy an ECU sweatshirt lol.
 
Brandon Jenkins is done for the season with a foot injury. I wonder if Florida State's defense will remain solid even in Jennings' absence. The Seminoles' defense will need to step up for doggone sure.

I don't care much for FSU. Maybe because during the great ECU coach diaspora of 2009, we lost a lot of staff to them.

And people seem to forget we always at least show up to big games. Now that I say that, well probably get blown out 63-0, but I think we have a realistic shot. Especially if Connor Shaw plays like a 12 year old girl like last week, it'll help if he only plays 10% of the snaps.

Meh. Weak former Big East rivals playing. I'll root for Cincinnati, I guess.

Apparently the nation is in love with Geno. I just did a poll on Heisman Favorites on SportsNation, and two things popped up that show that the nation loves Geno.

- He was on the picture leading to the link (Pat White and Steve Slaton didn't get that much publicity)

- He was ranked second in the nation only behind Matt Barkley. I'm kinda surprised the nation doesn't think of West Virginia as a team full of hicks lol.

@CAM Congrats to ECU on the victory over App State...beat South Carolina, and I may show up to the after party (Lol JK).

Yep. Louisiana Tech is no sorry school, either. The LT Bulldogs are Houston's next opponent. I already have had to endure with the Astros falling apart. Last thing I need is for my beloved college team to fall apart. I am not a UH student, but I'm very much a fan of the University of Houston.

Is it Pittsburgh at Cincinnati or Cincinnati at Pittsburgh? I've always seemed to be more of a Pitt fan than Cincy. Regardless, it should be a pretty good match as it usually is. When I first got into college football, Cincinnati was still in Conference USA. So I think that will be fairly even when these two schools clash.
 
That was a good while ago. We used to have Louisville, Cincinnati, and South Florida and we would whip USF and Cincinnati every year. Even in the John Thompson years (don't even ask, we don't like to talk about that time) when we would go 1-10/2-9, those wins would be from USF and Cincy without fail. But they still get into the BCS because of TV markets, just like those scrubs at UCF.
 
Yeah... Cincinnati, South Florida, Louisville- all part of C-USA before bouncing to the Big East. And ironically, my University of Houston Cougars will join the Big East. ESPN's "Around the Horn" and "Pardon the Interruption" were talking about the University of Washington practicing against LSU using a live caged tiger. As dangerous as LSU is on the field, it's pretty dumb to practice by using a live tiger. A caged tiger probably won't rip you apart. Of course, LSU can do that for you and to you without needing a real tiger. Plus... you might actually avoid the risk of having your limbs severed off, especially if the live tiger is cranky and hungry.


Washington will probably get owned at LSU anyways. I'm real curious this weekend to see how Texas A&M and Missouri will do in their respective SEC debut games.


[UPDATE] Did you know that on this day last year, Maryland unveiled those unique-looking uniforms bearing the Maryland flag? I saw this as part of the Happy Anniversary segment PTI does. I actually liked those uniforms. I think they are made by Under Armour, and they've made some nice uniforms for Northwestern University when they went to Syracuse this past Saturday. I loved the sort of vintage feel of those Northwestern uniforms.

A) Cincy and Pitt should be close as you mentioned. Possible OT game.
B) I see the Bucks laying down the law against UCF .... not close, another blowout for OSU.
C) Your giving Penn State a win huh ? Meh maybe so, it's Virginia. I still would not put too much past Virginia however.
D) Michigan - indeed. Regrouped and comes back hard with a vengeance.
E) I think USC smokes Syracuse ... bad.
F) Florida I think has their hands full, but will win in a close one.
G) I don't know if FSU will take it that far. They will go up big and then probably lie down, still a blowout for the Seminoles.
H) Mizzou could give Georgia a run for their money. You may be right on the upset thing.

Oh, Oregon ..... please lose those uniforms from last week. :lol:
 
I don't think Duke will lose by 5 touchdowns. And if ECU can hold them to <30 points, even 35-42, I really like our chances to be competitive based on what I saw Saturday.

I also think Penn State can't hang with UVA. Wahoowa!
 
I must be thinking of the early 2000s Duke teams, the ones that would go 0-12.

Question for all you guys: How did you get into college football? What made you a fan?

For me, it's kind of an unusual story. I was born in Illinois (I'll still support the Illini occasionally), but my father was born in the hills of West Virginia. I went there numerous times and loved it. I became a fan in the late 80s, during Major Harrises' Heisman Finalist/National Championship run (lost Heisman to (I believe) Raghib Ismail, and lost National Chanpionship to Ismail's Notre Dame squad). We should be known as "QB U #2" after Miami. First Oliver Luck (Father of Andrew), then Major Harris, Marc Bulger, Pat White, and now Geno. Pretty steady stream of QB's.

Ever since I was big enough not to get lost in the stadium, I've been cheering at the games. I was just born with it :lol:.
 
I basically got into football in 2002 thanks to the NFL's Houston Texans. I started to get hooked after learning of their inaugural season while also seeing "NFL Blitz 1999" at Lamar University then. I started to become more fond of college football as I started following all the Bowl games. Then in 2004 or 2005, I became fond of playing the NCAA Football games from EA Sports. At one point, I decided to take my love of college football to GTPlanet and decided to start regular threads regarding college football. And after all this reading... THAT is how I became a college football fan.

The University of Houston is my favorite school. But often times, I do root on Texas, Texas Southern, Sam Houston State, and Lamar University.

Yeah, there are. There are Longhorns fans and Aggies fans here. I respect both schools. I've had friends of mine who went to either UT-Austin or TAMU.
 
Cincinnati put down the Pittsburgh Panthers 34-10 in Cincy. The Bearcats led 17-0 at the half. Tonight's match is for pride in the state of Utah. It may not be BYU/Utah, but it's the Utah Utes up against the Aggies of Utah State. U of U vs. USU tonight.

[UPDATE] Oh, it's Utah AT Utah State, by the way.

I'm eager to see how we do against South Carolina today. I think that us as 21 point underdogs is a bit of a stretch, considering they barely escaped against Vanderbilt.

As a side note, Lane Kiffin = Daniel Tosh.

Last night's Utah at Utah State game ended up in a 27-20 win for Utah State in Overtime. Congrats to the USU Aggies.
