yea the new shaders make a big difference, but the model/textures are pretty much the same.. hopefully if they decide not to eventually update the car model's, they can at least make higher resolution textures for them

I would say, If they had a few hours on each car texture, they could easily make the standard cars look much better. For example, the pixelated Goodyears logo under both front headlamps.

Still have at least 3months to polish up some things:tup:

We can even see the windscreen wiper in exactly the same position :)

I'm guessing they modelled GT4 cars above what could be used on the PS2 and just imported them to GT5.

3?

try 5 more months, 150 more days until Launch, Which means their is still time.

But Regardless still a day 1 buy for me.

At least some cars from GT4 had interiors! PD sure took photos of all the cars interiors, while collecting data for GT4, so they could at least model some low poly cockpit, instead of a black one like in GT PSP.

This car look awesome for me it's same quality as NFS shift or even as Forza 3...
From outside look almost same as premium car!:)

 i wouldn't go that far while the standard cars look good, those premium car are simply amazing no other racing game can touch those.

I sad almost!!! Of course that premium look better, but outside it's not so big difference.:sly:

The 3D model is great. A new texture will fix the pixelation on some of the logos and then it should make the car look much better, mayby close to the exterior of a premium car.

there is also motion blur in the replay vids, so it's hard to get a sharp screen cap. As long as you don't zoom right into the textures you won't notice any difference while playing

When I heard first about no cockpit I was really angry like a lot of you, now im over it and really dont mind because I dont think the "standards" look that bad.

The only problem for me, and this is worse then no cockpit or gt4 quality cars is the sound of the "standards"

If you watch the official standard car video you can hear them, the muscle cars especially it is a ***** joke that these cars sound like that still after so long.

I really wouldnt care if the cars looked like gt3 if they sounded right but they sound like crap.

If the premium cars sound brilliant and the rest of them sound like crap that really is too much to take and im sure a lot of people would agree.

Yes thats all we need for now. 👍

The premium cars are great and i believe the standard cars will still look fantastic, but im worried that the differentiation between the two will cause problems when I'm playing the game.

It will definitely change what cars i want to drive, but also affect my decisions when buying cars, i would much rather spend the same amount of credits on a premium then a standard, and it will upset me when a car i love is in standard...
When I finished GT4 i would simply enjoy driving my favourite set up cars from my garage and there were about 4 or 5. As they are all old japanese cars they are most likely going to be standard and im gonna hate knowing that there are premium cars i could be driving instead of my favourites.

The separation of cars will be a bigger deal than some of us think, we will be constantly referring to what is standard or premium when driving and even in photomode.

Also the actual performance between the two classes could vary. The physics may be the same, but the extra time spend developing Premium might mean that they have extensive physics modelling so that they drive like the real thing, while standard cars might be the same old GT4 cars just running on GT5 physics.. who knows..

Im not too bothered about the differences in visual standards between the two classes (apart from interior which has made me angry), but i am worried about all the other aspects that may make the premium and standard cars alot more different.

Whats amazing is the fact that Car of Tomorrows arent very good looking by even the standards of NASCAR fans but GT5 managed to make them look sexy. Gran Turismo is magic.

And to those who think these cars are easy to drive....they should talk to 2 time DTM champion and 2007 ROC Champion Mattias Ekstrom who is starting his first NASCAR race tomorrow at Infineon stock car course. He was 38th of 43 in qualifying, and hes in the same car that the driver he is replacing, Brian Vickers, sat on the pole with last year at the same track

So.. How many Premium cars are still a mystery?

Anyone want to go through the trouble of adding up all the ones we already know?

71 from GT5P
20 Nascars
etc.

I don't think any of the premiums will have an advantage over standards on driving physics. All cars are under the same physics implementation.

That is what REALLY gets me... they didn't build interiors, they didn't really do much to the 3d models... but come one.. scan in some high res textures!!! Surely the original textures were already higher res that this... my digital camera from a decade ago would crank out better looking textures.

3?

Sure... if they keep making changes up till the night before release, don't test and certify all the last minute stuff and manage to somehow go gold, press and ship to stores in a day or two?

Sure...

I don't know why we as video game fans don't understand this better but honestly about 3-4 months before launch you can pretty much count on all major changes being finished. From then out it's testing, fixing bugs and certifying so the pressing and shipping can begin.

So while anythings possible, I lay very long odds on any major improvements still in the pipes unless we see another delay.

"There is still time" is the battle cry of the fans and honestly when is the last time it actually came through? Remember the Forza fans when that last demo hit XBL? There was still time to optimize the game so the high res models could be used during races and the tinted windows could be removed!

No... no there wasn't.

The truth is often unpleasant. That's why you'll always see people trying to distort it into something more soothing. "Translation problems", "The game is still unfinished", "It will be fixed by the time it releases", "Interior means engine, trunk and other things, not cockpit". But whatever your escapist fantasy, the truth is still there.

Is there a possibility I'm interpreting the facts in the wrong way? Sure. But so many evidence point in this direction that I just can't keep fooling myself. It was there from a long time ago. Since last year and the infamous web page that slipped from PD's hand confirming us many things, plus the standard cars with no cockpits fiasco. We just chose not to believe in it. Like we do with any bad news.

Seriously they need to ban PD from using anything that translates to "correlates".

I remember that whole last fiasco... I was friggin neck deep in it (I think with Server Surfer who just wouldn't let it go).

It's been the same story the whole time and I can't believe NOW after all THIS the denial continues...

I wonder how many Skylines, Imprezas and Evos will make it into the Premium Car list... :D

If the premium cars contain more than 10% duplicates I will **** bricks.

there are already two Suzuki Capuccino from prologue in premium cars.. while the r8 or the lamborghini countach are standard.. 👎👎

Note that "standard" and "premium" has nothing to do with the status or the rareness of the cars. It simply is a differentiating factor in the precision of modeling that went into these cars. The decision whether to make a car "premium" or not was not met on the basis of how interesting the car is, rather than whether there was data from earlier GT installments available, or whether the car had to have been modeled from ground up anyway. Thus, there will be small, boxy and boring "premium" cars as well as fast and exciting "standard" cars in the game.

The two terms probably are a bit misleading. Closer to reality would be something like "fully modeled cars" and "simply modeled cars".

Two classes:

1 - Premium
2 - Standard

I'm just praying that the Veyron will be premium. It would be beyond stupid to have it as standard...

I'm just thinking about the models upscaled from PSP. Countach had to be upscaled from PSP, and is a standard car... I hope the Veyron isn't the same way.
