Common sense with standard and premium cars.

Then it would be in my mind, a good compromise as it takes very little effort and those complaining about a lack of interior view kind of get one without the massive substance of the premium cars.

It's not about "feeling like im inside the car" its about seeing the cars individuality, and evolution in some cases, its about appreciation for the cars, not having a windshield in front of me, play Prologue see how promising it looks, you get used to it...

I didn't say just cuz they can, I said straight up on their own they are company that wants to make money and companies are legally bound by their board to be as profitable as possible.

And you can't assume that one will because another does, but this is Sony we are talking about, this is video games we are talking about and this is the real world we are talking about... it's a realistic and educated guess that this any major DLC along the lines of what you are talking about will cost.

Assuming that PD is some kind of benevolent friend who will do you right becuase they love us as much as we love them is a common but ridiculous way to think.

I would love to be wrong, sure as day I would love to... but every logical, educated bit of rational reasoning says I won't be.

Let's just put it this way, I have been calling out a lot of reasonable conclusions throughout GT5s dev period and so far I am battig pretty solidly and those who were sure I was wrong seem to have mostly dissapeared into the woodwork now.

And this is the video game world in general too...

I am not some psychic or market analyst genious... but on the simple stuff... I am pretty sure of myself :)

Explain GT5:P's 3 free DLC cars. Not all companies are about money money money.:drool::drool:

Some of us actually expected the past 4 years of screenshots and videos to be decent representation of that the game would look like, not just a small corner of the game while the vast majority of it uses PS2 technology.

You better believe it, these cars defy everything we have seen through the years.

Remember that 80% of GT5's car content would not have been exceptable in 2006 let alone 2010. We are now getting GT classic 3 years later.

GT4HD, 5 years...

This is a great statement. Over the years, and it's been a few years, they release screenshots, Prologue, and a few videos showing the game, always saying this is but a small representation of the full game, just you wait! It turns out they were showing us the MAJORITY OF THE GAME, minus the day/night transitions and one or two other things.

We've been mislead, and this is ridiculous, and all you defending this are ridiculous... no, not ridiculous, just lying to yourselves. Yeah most of us all buy the stupid damn game, but we've been mislead and are right to be upset.

Wasn't it kind of to be expected when Kaz said that the majority of cars from GT4 would be in GT5?
Maybe. That doesn't keep folks from hoping though. And face it, it really didn't make sense (still doesn't to be honest) to have most of the cars in the game directly from the last gen, and only 20% of them to be new optimized models. They are and will forever be one of a kind on that one.

One thing I do have to admit though, is that I thought to my self; "1000 cars to look this good? That's impossible.".

Except we aren't...

We have TONS of new stuff, good stuff, and all most people can think about is ONE aspect of the game. 200 cars is still a ton, more than I ever drove regularly in GT4. The tracks will be better, the smoke will be better, we have reverse lights now, and everything else that we got over the past 3 days.

If you are racing and are thinking about the interior more than the race, well, that doesn't seem right. Just so you all know, I race exclusively in cockpit view in Prologue, and I tried an experiment just now. I switched to bumper cam, and after half a lap realized that I didn't even know the difference. With all the new stuff to think about in the full game, I don't think anyone will have a problem not having cockpit view or some of the cars looking slightly less perfect than the rest.

Oh and BTW, props to sparkedglory for making this thread. 👍

I believe those were quite a while ago? You will note I asked before what DLC and when the free stuff you were speaking of was... because DLC actually started out decently... it's just been getting milked like crazy more and more lately.

How about you explain the collectors edition that is going to cost around $100for a model toy car 5 DLC cars (interesing they are only in the expensive one) and a booklet.

And I since when do we have to show that a company IS about profit? That's what companys do... they make money and are profitable. That's the whole goal... I keep explaining how a company is legally bound to be as profitable as possible to it's board.

How many times do I have to say that?

Asking for proof PD as a company is about making money is like asking for proof a lightbulb runs on electricity. There are a few scattered exceptions to therule but it's common sense almost any one you choose will fit the rule.

I am really starting to be astonished at the level of denial and devoute fanboyism you seem to have towards PD... it's like they can do no wrong... and they can't even kind of do wrong... heck it's starting to sound like you think they are downright angelic...

I can't tell if you actually believe the point you are trying to make or you just enjoy being pendantic but when KY says all the cars in GT PSP are going to be in GT5 were you expecting PSP quality models polished up and dropped in GT5?

I am pretty sure the common understanding was that if there was a Supra in GT4 there would be a same model Supra in GT5... but of GT5 class quality.

You would have at least thought that there would have been more than 200 after all these years, forza 2 has better car models vs these last gen standard cars and that was 3 years ago.

Forza.. Ha! Even the cars in Forza 3 is not in the same universe as the GT5 premium ones.

I'm happy with 200 cars. Just give me the game and I'll be even more satisfied. Nah, it's summer now and I don't wanna waste it on a video game. Nov 2nd is a great date! 👍

Actually I believe the photomode models in Forza 3 were pretty high quality renditions... they were just dropped to a lower res model for the gameplay. So realistically T10 did model some very high quality cars, even if those high quality models didn't make it into race gameplay. In other words the work was done.

"1000 cars to look this good? That's impossible.".

Me too, but i believed, like a boyish dreamer.

Now just curious to see which cars round off the Premiums and exactly how many there are!

Man, if some people are serious about never driving a standard model car, well, good luck getting 100% completion.

Because I can guarantee you'll have to drive one at some point in GT Mode.

That collectors edition is really not that expensive if you consider everything you're getting. :sly:
and calling me a fanboy is a bit much. I do love GT, but that's because I've grown up with it. Not because of my, as you say devout fanboyism to PD, The only games I'm a fanboy to are Valkyria Chronicles and Ace Combat. :sly: but that's irrelevant.

Yes PD wants to make money, but that doesn't mean that they're going to charge for DLC. :) and if that's not what you're trying to say, then I'm sorry for misinterpreting.

Of course I was a disappointed when I saw the standards, I expected more, but they still look pretty good nonetheless.

One thing though, games aren't about graphics. They're about gameplay, And that is 99% of any game.

Well most of the evidence up until this point was that GT5 has really detailed car models for all.

So it was not "boyish dreaming" to expect such given what they showed us through the years, we were led on and were given no other reason to think that the game would end up the way it did (car model wise).

5 years..

I hope not. But if so, I don't care. The only GT I've cleared 100% on is GT1 anyway.

I believe the game will be based around the premium cars. That would make sense to me, not to you perhaps, but to me.

Wrong. Graphics is a great aspect of a game. Maybe not to you, but to very many. Otherwise half the GT fanboys would not be GT fanboys.

Sound, graphics and physics I'd say are the three basic aspects of a racing game. Take away one of them and you don't have a game, simple as that.

EDIT: Sorry for double post.

That makes perfect sense, my point was there will probably end up being at least one single-make race or something of the same nature where you have no choice but to not race a premium car.

Judging by the video, yes, they sound just like they did in GT4.

Can someone confirm that all cars will have cockpit views, hand animations or not ???

Standard cars will be great as well.

But no cockpit view ? Is that confirmed :nervous:

Judging by the video, yes, they sound just like they did in GT4.

But they're not ported copy's which you just can't seem to get in to your head. These are completely new cars. The only similarities they may hold are sounds 'which may be ported more then likely from premium cars they have recorded IE: the Le Mans cars will get sound data from this years cars and just ported over the whole range from a previous generation 'except for the 787b' and that they were in GT4. These cars have been designed from scratch, and their specs have been put into the new physics engine to recreate the cars into a digital copy.
Not just slapped over. Get your facts straight.
Now before you start doing your nut, think about all the different cars in the game that share similar dash boards and the like. you can almost bet that there will be far more cars than 200 cars with interior views. So calm your ****ing farm.

First off, I will definitely buy this game and will make the best of it. I enjoyed all GT games before, without the cockpit cam, but since its inception, the bar has been raised for me.

I believe that 200 cars will be alot to play with; however, if you truly want to have a REAL RACING EXPERIENCE, then how can you use a cam that is behind the car? Isn't that like driving a remote controlled car???

And while bumper cam, hood cam, and roof cam may be better, I do not sit on the bumper, hood, or roof of my car when I drive. And last time that I checked, most racecar drivers don't either. I sit in the seat behind the wheel of the car with the dashboard and gauges in front of me. Maybe I'm wierd...

I listed what you get... $40 for a model toy car, a booklet and 5 DLC cars that are just custom paint jobs? That for 2/3 the cost of the game? That's good value?

Not because of my, as you say devout fanboyism to PD, The only games I'm aware of being a fanboy to are Valkyria Chronicles and Ace Combat. :sly: but that's irrelevant.

FTFY

I brought this up in another thread... we love to say that around here and we love to believe we mean it... but you look around... what makes the biggest splash? Sexy high res screen shots and sweet videos.

Over in one of the other threads it got a little heated and someone posted a pretty picture of a merc to draw everyones attention away.

Seriously GT and GT fans are every bit graphics whores. Why do you think some of the most heated threads involve comparing how GT looks to how FM3 looks?

GT forums are full of self proclaimed racers but when we think no ones looking we turn out to be just as much ricers.

Where did you get all this? From what I read they are the old assets with a spit polish, a few more polys added and maybe some higher res textures.

These cars have been designed from scratch, and their specs have been put into the new physics engine to recreate the cars into a digital copy.

What are you talking about? That makes no sense... GT rebuild these from scratch and built them all crappy GT4 quality? Are you saying they dumped their old data and stuck all the cars on dynos and scales again to get new data? Like a 03 civic would have different horse power if we measured it today as it did when they measured it last time? WTF?

And what is "their specs were put into the new physics engine to make their digital copies? WTF does that even mean? A physics engine doesn't containt every cars specs... those are stored with the asset and loaded, those specs are fed as variables INTO the physics engine while racing and the resulting calculations determine what we see and how the car handles.

It sounds like you have no idea what you are talking about and trying to cover it up by talking like you do...

Yo! Where do you get your information from? I donno what you're talking about but you don't 'port' gt4 games from an old system on a dvd to a new system on blu-ray. Sorry. I watched the latest video of the 'standard' cars. It doesn't show interior for any premium cars on it though. The video was on the first page, it showed views of the standard cars and I saw steering wheels from the outside and a driver with a helmet. I donno what that confirms but I don't think were SURE of the standard cars not having interiors.

Wow... we seriously have a lot of people who have no idea what they are talking about around here...

Hahaha yeah, GT5's standard models are clearly just some slightly touched up GT4 models. Even down to the cheap looking dark tinted windows and generic, black silhouette interiors.
