Conan O'brien

Nice to hear that we won't have to wait until this summer or something like that for the new Tonight Show.

Wait...what?

I think Conan is going to destroy Letterman. I used to LOVE Letterman on the "Late Night" for years, same on CBS. Last few years though, it just got very boring to me, though my buddies seem to still prefer him over Leno. I saw little bit of Letterman this week, it had been a while. I thought it was unwatchably bad, and the audience flatout sounded confused. I hope it's not always that bad.

Conan is my favorite. Then after that would probably be Craig Ferguson or Jay Leno. I would probably place Ferguson above Leno, but I only watched a handful of his shows. Spike Feresten would probably be right after. <<Now there's a good 30 minute show.

Letterman doesn't appeal to me all that much. I get the feeling that I'm not supposed to be in his target audience. And I avoid Jimmy Kimmel's show, since he looks like somebody you would want to punch in the face.

Letterman hasn't been funny for years, now. I've been holding on all this time in hopes he'd change. Nope. I don't watch him anymore; haven't for a while, but I do record the show in case somebody is on I like.

Wait...what?

Leno is no longer the host of the Tonight Show. It's Conan and he'll take over in May. However, Jay will have his own show at 10PM changing the the late night line up.

IMO, Conan is the best, too. Followed by Leno and then Craig Ferguson, but I don't watch him much at all. Just the first 10 minutes of his show. His guests usually suck.

Ditto. Thanks for saving me all that time typing!👍

Well, I finally don't feel like I'm alone on the Letterman deal. Like you guys, Conan's been my favorite forever also, but I still like David Letterman(just not his show). If the new Tonight Show will give him a jump start, I'd be glad to see that. 👍

We also agree on Ferguson, he's great. To me, he's the best comic of the bunch. I think he relies less on the writers.

Very excited about May! :D

I really enjoyed the look back over the last 16 years, especially the Civil War era baseball game. And I thought it was pretty awesome how he tore apart the set and gave pieces to the audience, pretty sure we'll be seeing some of those on EBay... I can't wait until he comes to California, maybe now I'll get a chance to go to a taping!

Also, I'm with you guys on Letterman. I've never found him funny. And his bandleader, Paul, creeps me out.

Oh, and regarding The White Stripes' performance...WTF? God, that was awful.

I loved Conan's introduction of the baseball game. "Some say a waste of time, while others say an incredible waste of time".

I loved the baseball game segment. "Thanks for the cool breeze. It was most cooling on my mustasche. Please cool me again."

I've always been a Letterman person myself, but alot of the stuff he does now is kind of stupid. I watch clips of him working the drive through at the Taco Bell and McDonalds about 10-15 years ago and they're both hilarious. These talk show hosts don't really do much of that type of stuff anymore, although Leno's Biff does some travelling. I really do like Conan also, but most of the time his show is on too late for me want to watch. I'll probably be making a switch from Letterman once he get's his show up and running. (And since Letterman's Pres. Bush segments are over.

I just watched the last episode and it was fantastic, the 1864 Baseball part was hilarious.

don't know if you all caught the episode before his last one, but during the show Conan tore off La Bamba's podium and gave it away. My friend Dave was the guy that ended up getting it. He won tickets to the show in that lottery style drawing for the final shows so he drove up to NY and met with our friend Wayne for the taping. Here they are with the podium at Wayne's place and some screencaps I took of the show (Dave is on the left, Wayne on the right) :

I think I caught the last episode, and maybe two before that one. :ouch: Awesome indeed, and very lucky. I'd have the thing insured, or sell it. :D

Why the hell is The Tonight Show getting shafted so badly? Conan has been hilarious since this whole fiasco.

I think both Conan's and Leno's show haven't been as funny since they moved around. But I stopped watching them a couple of months ago, so I don't know how they are currently.

Leno's show has been awful. The dude should just tape a Top Gear format show to be aired once a week after Sunday Night Football or something.

Tonight has to be one of the best episodes, it was pretty much an hour of making fun of NBC.

It's been crazy the last few nights, but I'm enjoying it. I think Conan should bail. The network isn't holding up their contract promises, so why shouldn't Conan leave for FOX or ABC?

Except this stand up girl is awful.

Yes she was.:yuck:

There is a rumor that Leno is leaving NBC as well. Link

I think the only place he would wind up is Fox. ABC already has a good lineup with Nightline and Jimmy Kimmel.

"In the year 2000!!!"

Letterman is boring. He's always looking down while he talks.
Leno is overrated and unfunny.
I love Conan and his hair!

Breaking: NBC reports that Leno reached a deal with NBC that gives him the tonight show. Poor CoCo :(

Agreed. Very hard to watch. My girlfriend was staring at the screen with a look of such distaste I thought she was angry with me.

It does seem to be happening. Really sad news. I really thought they were starting to hit their stride.

;)

Letterman used to be the best at one time. Damn shame.

Pretty shocking about this breaking news. So, does this mean Conan goes to the highest bidder?

Yeah... Letterman is past his prime. Whenever i see him sitting down on his chair, i see a dude dragging himself to work just for the paycheck, if you know what i mean. He is just stale and unfunny for the most part these days... except if he's interviewing a young hot actress...

"In the Year 2000....."

Conan's monologue for thursday: "...I received a letter from the adult film company "Pink Visual" offering me a role in one of their porno movies. In the movie I'd be having sex with a beautiful woman and just as we're about to climax I get replaced by Jay Leno. "

Watching Conan's monologue right now...

Possible titles for his porn movie:

"Conan the Bangbarian"

"In the rear 3000!"

Looks like 'The Deal' is done. Conan to receive $30 million to leave.

So, it looks like Jay Leno screwed both Dave and Conan out of the Tonight Show gig. Nice.

As it turns out, Jay never wanted to leave. They offered Conan the Tonight Show only to keep him from jumping to Fox. NBC didn't like his numbers, so that's why they offered Jay his old job back and will let Conan jump ship. Seriously, I don't see why they just didn't do that in the first place and saved us all from this mess, but that's NBC for yeah. Idiots.

So what do they do when Leno finally retires? Fallon just plain sucks so I doubt they would move him there. Than again it is NBC.

I look forward to watching Coco on whatever network he winds up on.

In the rear 3000 made me laugh so hard.

Jay Leno will reclaim the 11:30PM time slot. But, no word on if the show will be called The Tonight Show, but it must. I can't see it being called anything else, but you never know what these NBC morons.

Jay Leno had a lot to say about the situation on his 10PM show, too. You can read all about what he said and what's been going on all day here... http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=452589&gt1=28103
