Continental Sports Car Challenge

I was testing cars for a possible Pirelli World Challenge type series. GT class of 430 Scuderia, Viper ACR, GTR R35 Spec-V, Z06/ZR1, RUF CTR. Then was testing GS class cars like the Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Audi TTS, Nissan Z.

But other than that. I stayed online in my room for a while. Tried out the Golf R, Civic Type R, and the RUF 3400S. I think I used the RUF around 375hp 1250kg with racing mediums. I used Autumn Ring and it was about 5 seconds a lap faster than the lower class cars. I had the Golf R at 290hp close to around 1280kg. The Civic is way lighter, but less powerful, handles really good.

So I think a basis of around 520pp for the top class in this Continental series would be good. Then around 490pp for the lower class.

I can repair my own kart. I can't afford a $5000 kart at the age of 12. :(

Actually, even at 18, I can't afford my own kart.

Anyways, gotta go pick my mom up from work, since I borrowed the car to walk the dog.

Yeah. It's unfortunate. Nowadays you are usually looking to spend around $3,000 per weekend to drive for a top notch team. It's very unfortunate.

I'm becoming a mechanic. Eventually I'll be in lower-class motorsports, but. until then, who cares??

Also, Seth, not the Civic dude... Miata vs. Mini vs. Golf GTI V vs. Mazda 3...

GS is Mustangs vs M3s vs Camaros vs. Cayman/Boxsters/ vs Subaru.

Let's just run all these cars at the same HP & weight, test on the Nordschleife (believe me, it's a really good place to test equivalency.) and adjust the cars from there.

Also, for tires, *MAYBE* we should use sports tires for ST and racing hards for GS...?

If you guys actually know the series well, the cars slip/slide through every corner. Maybe even comforts in ST, Sports in GS?

Civic's are used in ST class, so I don't know why you'd not include them. Those were the only cars that I tested out. Also, I think racing-Medium tires for GS and racing-Hards for ST. The Mustang really needs some grippy tires, it's kinda 'boatish' ;) You should allow body mods for GS class, ST I don't think needs them since they're small momentum type cars.

No, too much grip I think...

I don't think so. With sports tires offline the cars drive good, but online is a different story. They use slicks IRL anyway. So the Hard tires would be fine. It's fun whipping these little cars around with 250hp and low weight with the Hard tires on.

ya that sounds like a good HP base for the lower class

But, I'd rather have a standard weight rather than a standard HP.

MrMelancholy15
Agreed. Then, reduce weight for the difficult Mustang etc.?

Yep!

It may be too hard though, I'll get some testing in tomorrow night. And find weights

The Mustang is still slower than the Camaro even if it's at it's lightest weight and the Camaro is 1400kg. The weight balance for the Camaro is 47/53, the Mustang is something weird like 59/41, and it turns much worse. It will be good on power tracks without much turns, like Daytona Road. But the Camaro will be there with it because it takes turns way better.

Ya but some people might be able to compete with the mustang

Good for them. It's till going to abuse it's tires. The weight balance is pathetic, it's the truth.

I know

Well, there are some people who can run fast laps because they take good care of their tires. Don't count it out. Besides, who says we can't run all the cars with their stock weight, and run the Mustang with weight reduction/ballast to the rear?

That defeats the purpose. It still has crappy weight balance. No matter what tire saving you do. I only say this to give the Mustang a break, which is the whole point!

Which is why you put the ballast over the rear? 💡

Doing that adds weight to the car, and makes it even slower.

You really think I'm running it stock? The lowest it goes is a little above 1300kg. Even if you run the car at 1400kg and send the ballast to the rear, the balance still is unfavorable.

So, run all the cars around 1500 kg. Heh, why not? I mean, it's not like they're not big enough.

The RUF isn't that heavy. Just let the Stang run its minimum weight or +50kg and give it a power break. The Subaru should be a good car also. If you ran this right before the Rolex series, I might be able to participate in it.

Ya that might work for me to

So, we're starting to get ideas? Anyways, for the Subaru, sedan or hatchback?

I think we should start testing the GS class pronto.

Sedan, and if we do some itcc today, we could use these cars too.

Precisely. I have a WTCC race starting in an hour or two, (or maybe even now o.O) and so I will be on for a large portion of the day, split between Rolex and WTCC, with ITCC/Continental testing. :)

If you are interested in this, don't go by the first post! It's sooo not accurate it's not funny!

But please post your ideas!

Interested!!

Ideas: mixed testing ITCC/Continental soon.

Most definitley!!! Are itcc races on Saturdays?

Most definitley!!! Are itcc races on Saturdays?

I'm hoping to start that discussion shortly. My master plan is to run around 5 PM our time, so that Americans (North, Central and South) can join, along with Europeans. So, if we run 5 PM Saturdays or Sundays, people from as far east as Berlin will be able to join without losing much sleep. Maybe even Prague (Czech capital) or Moscow (Russian Capital.)

Regardless, I'm thinking late afternoons on weekends.
