I like listening to The Fall Of Troy.

Especially "Act One, Scene One" and "F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X.".

They remind me of At The Drive-In but with the later touches of The Mars Volta, as well as sounding like hardcore bands like Alexisonfire.

Anyone ever heard of the Kenny Wayne Sheppard Band? I can't exactly speak for his later efforts, but his CD Trouble Is is very cool. Also SRV-inspired blues rock, which is fine by me. He actually did release a pretty well known single now that I think about it called "Blue on Black".
Trouble is is indeed a good album. I love SRV and Kenny does a pretty good job.

Another one is Chris Duarte. More Texas blues - I have both Texas Sugar Strat Magic and Tailspin Headwhack. Both links have 30 second clips of the CD. I havn't listened to them in a while. I'll have to put them back in the car for a refresher. :)

The Eric Gales Band. That's all I have to really say.

Eric Gales is basically a modernised version of Jimi Hendrix, but don't let that deter you, because he's not just a cheap rip-off. He's a very good guitarist that doesn't get the attention he deserves. Worth a listen.

Pulse by The Mad Capsule Markets.

I aint seen them mentioned much in the forums so I thought they might fit into this catagory.

The song is a mix of Techno music (Heavially in the first 10-15 seconds) and Metal (Which takes over later on in the song). Although you can't hardly understand what they are saying (They are japanese so they have trouble with english lyrics) although you don't really need to listen to the lyrics as its the same 5 lines repeated.

It's one of my favourite tunes of all time and it was also on the soundtrack of Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3.

The Suburban Vamps - Surf Vamps

Anyone who has played Road Rash Jailbreak on the PS1 will know this song. These guys rock, this is a surfy song but the guitar solo is awsome, if I didnt know better I would have said it was Kirk Hammett playing lol. You can find this song on the following link and a bunch of other songs from different bands.

For now...

Hip Hop
No I.D. - Sky's the Limit

Electronica/Techno
Attiba - Oh Yeah 6 --I can't find this track anywhere, at least a sample

Damn I'm proud, I've heard a lot of these. I've heard the Architecture song (their songs It's 5! and Wishbone are a good laugh), You Sping me Right Round, a couple RJD2 songs (Through the Walls=good song), Frontier Psych., Royksopp.

All of my friends consider me the king of obscure rock and pop music. Tell me if anyone has heard any of these.

Arrogant Worms - The War of 1812
Go Sailor - Together Forever in Love
Authority Zero - Mexican Radio (some may have heard this, best cover ever)
Boney M - Rasputin
Eels - Last Stop This Town
Erasure - Send Me an Angel
Morningwood - Nth Degree
The Pogues - Bottle of Smoke
Planet Smashers - Super Orgy Porno Party (Montreal represent)
Rage Against the Machine - Autologic (off their demo tape)
Save Ferris - Come on Eileen (ska cover)
Supersuckers - Pretty ****ed Up
Any song by Teddybears STHLM
The Zambonis - Hockey Monkey
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Wizards in Winter
Young MC - Bust a Move

Those are some offbeat ones. Anyone heard any of them?

I have heard of those three.

Personally if I was going to put a Pogues track up (and I would not, judging by the fact that they sold millions of records and dominated Irish music for a long period of time, they can hardly be counted as underground) I would put one of their faster tracks like Blue Heaven, Billy's Bones, Turkish Song Of The Damned , The Gentleman Soldier, or the ode to drunkeness and racism that is The Sick Bed Of Cuchulainn (and coming from an album called Rum, Sodomy & the Lash you can gaurentee it's on pretty messed up track.)

Rage Against The Machine (I believe during the period after Zach De La Rocha left and before Audioslave formed) did a cover of The Star Wars Imperial March. Very cool song, and definitely worth checking out.

I have heard that same track under Green Day as the artist, but it doesn't fit either bands' playing styles.

Is your version live? If it is, it isn't Rage Against the Machine, as their last concert was before the release of Renegades, which was before ZDLR left the band. The members had to be so commited politically and socially that the second that the headman for the band left, it all fell apart immediately, out of sheer stress.

The three remaining members of crapslave haven't spoken to ZDLR since the band broke up (what literally happened).

Imracer: For 'riz. The tracks Last Stop This Town, Mr. E's Beautiful Blues, Novacaine for the Soul, Electro-Shock Blues are the tracks I'd recomend.

Freezepop - Summer Boy
The Nightwatchman(aka Tom Morello) - Until the End

No, it's recorded. I believe it was released some time ago, where Tom Morello, Tim Cummerford and Brad Wilk were recording some instrumental stuff on their own.

It's definitely the Rage Against The Machine sound.

Brandtson - One of the better bands in a genre polluted with also-rans. Their cover of the Police's King Of Pain is pretty decent, and a lot of their newer stuff is good (see Escapist).

Cursive - Not sure if I can call them relatively unknown, since a lot of people know of Bright Eyes, and Cursive's never far behind. Anyways, Red Handed Sleight Of Hand is an excellent song, as is Art Is Hard.

Death From Above 1979 - A well-known band, except few people know their debut EP. The song Dead Womb is a standout.

The Dresden Dolls - Punk-rock cabaret? Girl Anachronism and Coin Operated Boy.

The Fiery Furnaces - Anything from their Blueberry Boat album.

Iron & Wine - Everyone goes ga-ga over their Postal Service cover on Garden State. But Love And Some Verses and Jezebel are just two excellent songs of their own.

There's more, but I don't want this to get too lengthy, heh.

I took an earful of the Rage Imperial march. Sounds really neat, a couple familiar sounds, but also some very odd, neverbefore heardof noises. I love the robot-like noise at one point: pue Morello 👍 The bass line is also gloriously sedate.

There are a couple places online that have reference to it, but I'm still not 100% convicned. It goes against Rage's "All sounds made by guitar, bass, drums and vocals" ideology.

Here's an artist that's never been in the spotlight untill now: Fad Gadget

He died unfortunaltely a few years ago, but was a pioneer in electronic music, as Depeche Mode took him as an example for thier early years recordings, say, 1981.

You can clearly hear in early Vince Clarke / Depeche Mode recordings like Televison Set, and Tomorrow's Dance it was influenced by Fad Gadget..

Lady Shave by Fad Gadget is a good example for instance..👍

Cursive is good. I wouldn't call them well known yet.

I've looked all over for any more info on the song. I'm really interested because I'm a pretty huge Rage-head. The most complete Rage site around has no mention of it, and after inquiry, the dude who made the site doesn't know either. It also does not appear in this mega-huge Rage FAQ page, which hasn't been updated since December 2000, which is after Rage broke up.

I'm calling BS on this one, there are a lot of mis-named files going around.

It's actually labelled as "Rage Mix" on this file, and around the internet. I think it's just the boys messing around myself, after Rage Against The Machine, as they are all good mates, and it could very well be after 2000.

It's too produced and almost album-quality to be "messing around."

I'm still standing firm on this one, feel free to prove me wrong though.

I'm not necessarily saying you're wrong, I'm just stating that I do believe that it is Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk messing around in the studio.

It's not too well-produced, really. It's not overly hard to come up with something like that, and with the resources that they would have, it's not over their heads at all.
