Corporate funding = corporate interests / agenda 🤬 up a good game.
Thanks, Nissan.

Whos fault is it for making a "grinding" game; PD or Nissan?

First time I've ever seen a thread that belongs in the GT5 forum, not site feedback
But dude, I don't know what you are thinking, but Nissan has nothing to do with grinding. Lets not throw blame around for no reason.

I don't think I've ever said this on GTP before. May as well break my duck...

What is this I don't even?

What?

What has Nissan got to do with the poor choices made on PD's behalf? More importantly, how does one even arrive at the conclusion of any one manufacturer, let alone Nissan?

Again, what?

Can't you just blame Toyota and/or President Obama like everyone else?

I blame Ben Collins.

This game is nothing more than Nissan trying to find it's next race car driver. Is Chevrolet holding trials for their next driver? Any other manufacturer? Is the president looking for a new driver by holding trials in a video game?

How many Skylines are there in the game?

Ok,
Where then? GT5 Q&A?

Nissan is a sponsor (I think). Last I checked it was called GT Academy, not "Nissan Academy for those who play GT".

Is Chevrolet holding trials for their next driver?
It's incredibly likely. How do you think race driver's get a seat in any car? They just don't show up one day and say "I'm an awesome racer, hire me."

Any other manufacturer?
Mercedes-Benz has the AMG Driving Academy. So, in short, yes. Yes they do.

Is the president looking for a new driver by holding trials in a video game?
He might be. Never know when a hectic chase is going to go down....

What relevance does this have to, well, anything?

You think the whole game evolves around GT Academy? Also there are much faster and cheaper ways of getting a racing driver who will be better than any GT Academy winner.

This thread is so oddly random...although I may have to agree and say that Nissan has more influence on GT than any other company. The GT Academy, the GT-R unveiled alongside with GT5: Prologue, etc.

Serious question for KrazyM82: Are you clinically insane?

The GT by Citroen was also unveiled alongside Prologue.

As was the California, the 458 Italia, the FT-86 and the G Sports variant. Not certain about the latter two but you see my point.

Nissan is the only manufacturer holding time trials online, THROUGH, GT to find drivers. and I do believe it is called the Nissan GT Academy in seasonal events. If you can't read between the lines, then, you need new glasses.

Incredibly likely, is the same as "I don't know".

AMG is not recruiting drivers through the game so, No in short.

As far as the President needing a new driver; the fact that you even attempted to answer such a rhetorical question, is pretty funny.

and if you can't see the relevance even when I've already explained it,
then why post a reply?
especially when I asked a simple question, which is apparently too hard for you to do.

I'm curious as to why or how you feel Nissan may be responsible for the game's "grinding"?

Yeah.....

I'm going to go ahead and mirror Aldo's question to the OP: Are you clinically insane?

And that causes players to grind through the game how?

I think it's PDs fault ultimately but, the way I see it, Nissan (being a BIG sponsor) wanted a driver(s), so PD made a grinding game to see who the best grinder is for Nissan.

Don't get me wrong I think using the game to find a driver is genius, but not at the expense of GT fans, who did not buy this game to sit in front of a TV for hours and days and even months with a rubber band on their controller in the hopes of getting a really expensive car; or actually spending days on one track to shave milliseconds off their previous time in their $600 racing cockpit.
Why is it that grinders, that have no life, or any other games to play, or even a job, are rewarded?
It is unfair to make a game for the 2% that actually spend the time to grind, when the other 98% of people who bought the game don't have the time to grind; and I'm not about to use the rubber band trick as that is cheating.
Why make cars so hard to get except for trading, and then make a limit to trading?
There are many issues with the game and I'm not the only one who feels this way.
None the less, it's the only racing game I have so I'm stuck with it; and it does have some fun value to it, but not much.

especially when I asked a simple question

The answer is sixty, across eight generations, including tuner and race cars.

Whither relevance?

Like I've said, if they wanted a competent racing driver they would just hire a professional. They wouldn't go through the hassle of dealing with a video game developer to produce a competition to find a driver that still needs race experience and licences.

Also how are Nissan a big sponsor? Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't even think Nissan run the GT Academy Team, RJN Motorsport do.

EDIT: Another thing. You seem to have a serious misconception of an endurance racer, they don't grind lap after lap mindlessly like you do in GT5. It takes serious talent to stay alert for their stint in the car, not to mention how physically demanding it must be.

Then why is NISSAN in the, Nissan GT Academy? Maybe for good looks, huh? could it be that RJN is sponsored by NISSAN? and if you so choose, you could visit RJN's website and see for yourself, (copied from their web site)

"January and February 2011 2011 has already been an interesting year and only two months of the way through. January saw the launch of the 2011 Nissan Playstation GT Academy competition in the USA for the first time and has had over 55,000 entries. The final winner will join a winner from Europe to gain their International C racing licence and drive in a 24 hours of Dubai 2012."

Who said anything about comparing an actual endurance racer to video game players?

and who said professional drivers don't play video games?

For the umpteenth time, what does anything you're adamantly (yet, pointlessly) arguing have to do with grinding and how Nissan is involved?

I don't even....what's the point of this?

Oh, and there's an edit button that you should have used.

I just explained it to you again. If you don't understand then drop it. IF it's pointless then, again, why post here? go troll somewhere else.

I don't think we're trolling. And T-12 just said, endurance races in real life is anything but grinding mindlessly. Endurance racers need to have:
serious talent to stay alert for a stint in their car, not to mention how physically fit they must be.

And again, what the hell does grinding have to do with this? (Apart from how non-grind-ish it is to compete in an endurance race )

Yes, I will take credit for saying that because Tom still owes me cutting the last corner at Le Sarthe.

KrazyM82 nothing you've said really makes any sense. PD can bang out a new round of seasonals in less than a week. All they have to do for the Academy is make one time trial, every few weeks. One of the PD devs could probably do that before his morning coffee.

Nissan is a sponsor. They aren't standing over PD's shoulder telling them what to do. If that's what you think sponsors do then you should take a marketing course.

That's not the point of the thread, I think.

What is? 🤬 if I know.

Daniel,
LOL

I can't take you seriously with that thing you are using as your avatar.

But, Yes I AGREE, Real race car drivers are very physically fit and they ARE mentally fit as well; and yes, real life professional drivers are not grinding as they are racing in real life. ( I hate to state the obvious)

The point I was making is that; in Nissan's attempt to find a race car driver, they influenced PD as they are a large sponsor. PD realized that Nissan wanted the type of person that doesn't mind spending hours or days perfecting their lap times, so, PD then created a game more suited for Grinders and SERIOUS race car fans who do nothing but play GT5, which probably makes up about 2% of the population that bought GT5.

So, for the rest of us the game is un-enjoyable. Why? you might ask.
Because, grinding is not fun. I as well as the other 98% do not like going around the same track over and over and over and over to gain more money, to collect the cars we want. I did not buy this game to grind in order to get the cars I wanted to collect. I didn't buy the game to attach a rubber band on my controller to get the cars I wanted. I did not buy this game to give up my job, family, and other games I like to play, in an attempt to achieve a reasonable amount of game completion.

and except for famine's response, I'm wondering if anyone is going to actually answer my question. TB's response doesn't count, as it was sarcastic, but at least he did give an answer.

Man! It's not Nissan's fault. Show me proof that they told PD to remove races and force the players to grind. You need to get your head checked.
