So you're saying the physics engine was improved for drifting, that this was the reason? You're wrong. I read the interview, too. The game is called the "real driving simulator", not the "real drifting simulator". Improved drifting is a side effect of improved physics. If the physics were improved for drifting specifically, then you'd have your drifting game. Why is it so hard to understand that drifting is an exhibition sport? It's like the Harlem Globe Trotters compared to real, competitive basketball. Don't get pissy because you're obsessed with style over substance. Sheesh.

Hahahahaha.... First, you misunderstood what I said, plus it was an almost direct quote. I'd find the quote itself but I really don't care. Anyway, you're right, DRIFTING IS AN EXIBITION SPORT! Thanks for agreeing with me.

Hahahaha? What? My post was about the physics engine in GT3 and 4. The part about exhibition sport is just a little thing everybody knows and says all the time. Frankly, I only mentioned it so I could use my new Harlem Globe Trotters analogy.

So that effectively blows your stupid little post right out of the sky.

Hahahaha.

Forget it. Eric. Just drop it, because he never will. We all know you're right.

I drift and I have to agree..Great Harlem Globe Trotters analogy, though..Drifting is alot more exibition than racing..Or sport..or whatever. As much as I wish it was a sport, it's not.

Drifting is a sport, it requires control and skill to do it properley, just because it isn't as wide spread as Football, it's still a form of motorsport.

How do you win in this sport, sport?

You score points, cars go round the track in pairs and have to drift next to each other, the closer you are to each other the better (without contact of course), you get points for speed and control as well, It's called D1 racing and it's mainley in Japan but it's in the UK now as well.

I don't know how many point you get for what, but they are awarded either automatically by being a certain distace away from the other car and how fast your going and for control it's done by judges. They score both cars as a pair rather than individually, then the next pair go out and so on.

I drift alot, and that STILL sounds like an exibition, not a sport.. As much as I hate to say it, I'm agreeing with Milefile..

Well it is actually form of motorsport, if you don't think it should be thats fine but thats how it is.

Who really cares? It's fun, it's challenging, and it takes skill. Sport or not, that's enough for me.

You summed it up there battle_stage :)

back to the original question..

I think polyphony should make a game just for drifting... Since drifting has become very well known lately.

*What does everyone else think?*

no i dont think so.. there are alot of drifting games already coming out.. plus it would take the fun out of setting the car up properly

Yeh, there's a couple drift games coming out, but what I think exhaust_note wants is one done RIGHT. Polyphony would be the people to do it in my opinion.

Why would it take the fun out of setting the car up? If Polyphony made a simulation style drift game, You would still need to set the car up properly. Furthermore, I agree with exhaust_note. I think there needs to be a well made simulation style drift game (not like Initial D or Kaido Battle). I however think that GT4 will keep me plenty happy until such a game is created.;)

your only thinkin about yourself.. think about others who dont have a clue about how to set up a car to drift. they basically would be beating their head on a wall, like this guy -->:banghead:

That's the nature of any simulation game. There is a learning curve with understanding the settings for GT3. Anyway, that would be very easy to solve with the addition of a tutorial mode, or license tests describing the basics of drifting. Maybe even Keichi Tsuchiya could be brought in on the project. Knowing how Polyphony is about detail, this is a definite posibility. Anyone who isn't in to drifting wouldn't buy the game, and most people who are really into drifting in GT3, or even in real life, have a basic understanding of drift settings.;)

ok this thread has had the same thing said over and over:D
but anyway,DON"T KNOCK DRIFT TILL YOU TRY!and if you have you probly are'nt any good:lol: :p
